Is Final Fantasy XIII a good game?

I saw some of the trailers and they looked all great and that, but I'm sure about the game. So, help me out alittle.

I love RPG's, and specifically the Final Fantasy series, so I naturally love the game, however I will attempt to give as unbiased an assessment as possible.

Any Final Fantasy veteran will tell you that story is central to these games, and XIII is no exception. The story is very engaging with good, deep character arcs, and brings you through the adventure constantly wanting to see what happens next.

The battle system is very fast paced, and has been set up to where if you're not paying attention, even the weaker enemies in normal fights can wipe your party out. The difficulty ramps up at a solid pace, to where once your accustomed to the current aspects, of fighting, you have new ones to adapt to. This does a good job of keeping the game from feeling too monotonous.

Exploration is limited through the first half of the game, which would be a complaint from those familiar with the franchise, but to non RPG fans this helps them get through the experience, and by the time thee game starts to open up, the player should be immersed enough to want to explore.

Visuals are simply gorgeous, although more or an artistic achievement then a technical one. The music and sound matches pretty well, but not as well as previous entries in the series.

As far as value goes, you'll get a solid 40 hours game play per play through at least. However, there is no online component. This should not be a surprise, as this type of game does not fit in online modes.
