Why are there more red stripes on the American flag than white stripes?

I know what the stripes stand for, so why are there more red than white?
I did a google search and didn't find anything, why don't you do one and tell me what you find?

The red in the flag stands for courage, pain, blood, and suffering. The white stands for purity and truth. So the reason there is more red than white is because it is symbolizing there is more pain and struggling than innocence and truth.
