The Arming Sword which is commonly referred to as the Knight's or Knightly Sword is a type of Ancient Fortified Sword used in the latter middle ages. It is a type of Cruciform Sword that is made to be used with just one hand. For those of you who aren't aware of a Cruciform it just means that it was shaped like the cross. This weapon was used the most from around 1000 to 1350 A.D., however, it was still being used as a Battle Weapon until 1600 or so A.D. but after 1350 it was rarely used.
As mentioned before the Hilt or handle was Cruciform Shaped with a Pommel. The Arming Sword was a descenent of the Viking Sword, which is a type of spatha used by the Greeks. This weapon was typically made to be employed with a shield or buckler. A bucker is an old school shield troops of the ancient days went to battle with. It's about 6-18 inches and has a perfectly round shape, often decorated with beautiful artwork on the front.
The Knights used this Ancient Fortified Sword as their Standard Military Weapon. Along with many other combat swords it was also commonly referred to as a "War Sword". Eventually, this weapon became outdated in place of the Longsword around 1300 A.D. because of technological advances. When shields weren't available, troops often used their left hand for grabbing and grappling their enemies, while their sword was used in their right hand. Overall this weapon was light, and was great for both cutting and thrusting. It also has great balance.
Arming Swords are generally defined as weapons that are made to be used in one and and that are sharp on both sides and that their primary objective was to cut an opponent rather than to stab them. Historically these weapons were available in lengths anywhere from 23 to 39 inches long. The later models were manufactured longer and heavier than the older ones. This redesign would allow the weapon to inflict bodily injury easier through heavier enemy armour. And with a narrower blade, it would be possible to pierce their armour as well.

Charges Dropped Against Methamphetamine Drug Lord
On Monday, the federal government asked a judge to drop charges against the man associated with the largest methamphetamine seizure in US history. An unhappy federal judge stated, “I am not pleased at all with anything I’ve heard from the United States government.”
Ye Gon, a Chinese-Mexican businessman is charged with importing large amounts of methamphetamine into the United States. When he was arrested in 2007 the U.S. government seized 205 million in drug profit. Accused of operating one of the largest methamphetamine production cartels North America, his cash is connected to one of the largest networks for trafficking pseudoephedrine, the main ingredient in methamphetamines.
He said the ring had been operating since 2004, illegally importing the substance and selling it to a drug cartel that mixed it into the crystal form and imported it into the United States.
Ye Gon’s lawyer reports that he is happy with the recent decision, but he will likely not go free even if the charges are dropped. He is awaiting extradition to Mexico where he faces charges of organized crime, drug trafficking and weapons charges.
The fact of the dropped charges against one of the largest drug Lords in the world is a disappointment. The federal government has spent untold amounts of money on a trial that went nowhere while effective treatment and education are underfunded.
Originally methamphetamine in the U.S. was made and sold by motorcycle gangs and other internal criminals. Meth Labs began popping up all across the United Stated and Law enforcement reacted by busting thousands of these labs.
Mexican drug cartels have moved into the area, smuggling in drugs manufactured in vast commercial style laboratories.
Recent efforts in the United State to curb the sales of the main ingredients of methamphetamine have indeed made it harder to manufacture the drug inside the United States, but the cartels are finding the ingredients elsewhere.
It is clear, with the failed attempt at prosecuting Ye Gon, that the answer to drug trafficking lies in demand reduction . Effective drug treatment and education should be provided by families and the schools.

In Lord of the rings do you think you could destroy the one ring with a weapon forged in the fires of Mt. Doom
I don't think so, and here's why. I have possibly every Tolkein book there is, and I'm obsessed with the movies. This question has gone through my mind before.
The only real, prophesized way to destroy the One Ring would be to cast it into the chasm from whence it came. Sauron was and is the Lord of Mount Doom, and this ring, so he would not want a "back door" to his plan of an indestructable ring. He would want it to be cast in such a way that it would be unharmed. Think about it. No one would really want to go to Mount Doom but Sauron, so who could destroy the ring if not Sauron. Throwing it into it;s own forging pit would be the ONLY way to destroy the ring.
