There's nothing hip about this vintage Disney film that begins and ends with a corny song about the "best doggone dog in the West." But that's the beauty of Old Yeller, originally released in 1957. The simple, heart-warming story of a boy who bonds with a feisty stray dog in 1860s Texas is full of 1950s sensibilities: A Donna Reed-style perfect "Momma" (Dorothy McGuire) who knows best, a couple of brothers who quarrel in the best sitcom tradition, and a father (Fess Parker, in a small role) who goes off to provide for his family, leaving his older boy (Tommy Kirk) in charge and his incredibly cute younger one (Kevin Corcoran) to steal as many scenes in the movie as he possibly can. With Old Yeller at his side, Kirk becomes a little man, who in the end must make a decision so heart-breaking that it's one of filmdom's most memorable moments. --Valerie J. Nelson
No film better captures the powerful emotions of hope, courage, and friendship than this treasured and much beloved classic, OLD YELLER. The quintessential tale of a boy's love for his dog has touched the hearts of millions, its enduring legacy growing with each new generation and is "still one of the best!" (Leonard Maltin) Set amidst the landscape of 1860s Texas, a young boy named Travis (Tommy Kirk) wants nothing to do with the lop-eared stray. But Old Yeller quickly proves himself a loyal friend, protecting the family and saving Travis' life. Soon they become inseparable pals, sharing joyous experiences and learning valuable lessons about growing up.

Can you dig it? Director Walter Hill's cult classic follows the Warriors, a Coney Island gang falsely accused of killing the messianic leader of a city-wide peace summit to unite the warring factions, as they make their way through 28 miles of "enemy territory" with 100,000 rival gang members hot on their trail. Michael Beck, James Remar, Debra Van Valkenburgh, Dorsey Wright, and David Patrick Kelly star. Director's cut; 93 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital stereo Surround, French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, Spanish; featurettes; theatrical trailer.
The Warriors combines pure pulp storytelling and surprisingly poetic images into a thoroughly enjoyable cult classic. The plot is mythically pure (and inspired by a legendary bit of Greek history): When a charismatic gang leader is shot at a conclave in the Bronx meant to unite all the gangs in New York City, a troupe from Coney Island called the Warriors get blamed and have to fight all the way back to their own turf--which means an escalating series of battles with colorful and improbable gangs like the Baseball Furies, who wear baseball uniforms and KISS-inspired face make-up. Pop existentialism, performances that are somehow both wooden and overwrought, and zesty, kinetic filmmaking from director Walter Hill (Southern Comfort, 48 Hrs.) result in a delicious and unexpectedly resonant operatic cheesiness. The Ultimate Director's Cut doesn't radically alter the movie--some of the editing is tighter, the Greek legend has been added as an introduction--with one exception: in transitions, scenes begin and end as scenes from a comic book. While The Warriors always had a comic book flavor (and Hill, in an interview, says he deliberately pursued that sensibility), this device--similar to The Hulk--seems a bit overkill. But it's a minor problem; the movie holds its own, even 26 years later. The dvd has no audio commentary, but there are four short documentaries (really, one documentary in four parts). These include excellent interviews with Hill, actors Michael Beck, James Remar, David Patrick Kelly, and Deborah Van Valkenburgh. The producers, the cinematographer, the costume designer, the stunt coordinator, and many others give lively and in-depth descriptions of how the movie came to be. One of these documentaries includes portions of a deleted scene that was used when The Warriors was screened on television; no other deleted scenes are included. --Bret Fetzer

Although reggae's religious overtones are often overshadowed by the music's ties to ganja and the hippie movement, there are some socially active or religious leaning artists out there. One of the newest comes in the unlikely figure of a young Hasidic Jew named Matisyahu. Singing with a slight ghetto patois, in Yiddish, and even displaying considerable beat-box skills, the New Yorker is at his best when he works himself into fits of righteous indignation and Old Testament fervor (the limits of his vocal range are laid bare when he croons on ballads). The lean three-piece band on this live recording, his second album, is aerodynamic and flexible, able to do the slow reggae groove or rock out with ferocity. After 12 tracks of stripped-down reggae, however, the music tends to blend into one long groove. Nonetheless, there is an undeniable urgency in this live recording that comes through loud and clear, making it a live document of note by one of reggae's most interesting new figures. --Tad Hendrickson

It's a 50 Cent world, and we're just living in it. Lloyd Banks's solo debut is one in an upcoming series of G Unit-affiliated releases coming to a hood near you. With his understated raspy flows and gift for penning clever punch lines, Banks has long been considered the crew's nicest lyricist. He might also be the most braggadocious. On choice cut "Warrior," the narcissism begins: "I'm smooth as the Isleys, sometimes I surprise me." Then there's the self-explanatory "I'm So Fly," produced by Timbaland, and "If You So Gangsta," where he informs his fellow hood dwellers why they can't compete with the "rap Lebron." As with all G Unit productions, the beats are first-rate. Remarkable backing tracks supplied by underrated producers Hi-Tek and Baby Grand ("I Get High," "Die One Day") act as a much needed counterweight to Banks's clichéd thug-guns-girls-jewelry banter. A better reason to cop this album is to hear Banks's introspective take on the flipside of thug living. R&B-tinged ballad "Karma" demos his ability to serenade the hotties in more, um, gentlemanly fashion. When he raps "if it wasn't for 50, I probably wouldn't be around," he might be right. But the rap world's no worse off with this capable debut in our midst. --Dalton Higgins

Here are some more information for Warriors York:

The wearing of chain mail and body armor has been an effective means of protection in combat and war for centuries. Its use dates back to the Greeks and early roman empire where warriors and legionnaires donned metal plate and mail armour. The medieval era knights are most remembered for their elaborate medieval armor and battle shields in brilliant colors. But a knight's armour was more than protection. It reflected his status and lifestyle. The quality of the armour was as important and the overall look and the battle efficiency. Indeed it was a fashion statement also.
The evolution of chain maile and armour through the Maximilian era was a direct response to improvement in weaponry of the time. As weapons became more sophisticated, so did the thickness of the battle shields and the armour of the knight. Most had to not only be effective against attack but also flexible and agile.
The period of plate armour runs from about the early 1300's to about the mid to late 1500's. During this medieval time period the evolution went from a few pieces of plate to entire suits of highly crafted works of art in metal. Prior to this time, chain mail was the most prevalent and effective type of body armament. Maile weighed about the same as full body plate style. The average weight was about 45 - 55 pounds. However, a well made suit of plate armour was more comfortable to the wearer because it could be more evenly distributed over their body. It was always worn with padding and protective clothing to further protect and insulate from the heat and cold. The mid fourteen century was the period wear knights wore both type of body armour. During this time period, it was difficult for the warrior to get back up on if knocked down due the combined weight of the plate and the maille. By the early fifteenth century, most all body armament was plate as the designs and flexibility improved. A mid sixteenth century knight in full plate armour was surprisingly agile due to proper fit on the wearer.
The onset of the modern gun spelled the swan song for full body armament although body armour is worn even today in a more modern form such as kevlar (tm) vests and such. Even still we romanticize this period of European history. The medieval knight is well engrained in our minds and impressions of the medieval period.

New York Tabloid And Bloggers Reveal Hidden Money Making Business Ideas Right Under Your Nose
In my first article on the subject, I wrote primarily about the fact that any money making business idea should have a positive impact on your cash flow. After all if you are in business to make money, you should be able to put that cash in your pockets as soon as possible. Accounts receivable is just not an endearing term in internet marketing circles.
Now, in the sequel, I am taking a more traditional approach. That is to say, I want to share with you three (3) great ideas that you can use to actually make money. Does that make sense? Of course it does. I get rather annoyed with the advertisements my local banks so dearly love to put on TV. They all pontificate about how they can help you manage and increase your wealth, blah, blah! Who cares about that if they have no wealth to begin with? At their interest rate, minus taxes and inflation? No one!
Anyway, I am actually in a good mood as I write this. It is not that I am wealthy by any stretch. But some of these money making business ideas keep swirling around in my head, and there is only so much that a man can take. So without further ado, let us look at just three (3) great ideas that you can use this week to earn yourself some cash. None of them require taking on a second job. Thank God for that!
1. Blogging Is Influencing People's buying decision. A short piece in the New York Times of December 22, 2008 indicates that people are turning to their peers who write blogs for advice before they make buying decision. Interesting isn't it? Do you see a money making business idea making an entrance here?. We know that good blogs are valuable. Now blogging could be even more valuable to you because not only can you influence people to buy something, you can also share in the commission from that sale. It is already happening. If you do not have a blog and you are a marketer, you should be ashamed of yourself!
2. Viral Marketing is Getting Crazier and Even more profitable. Viral marketing is something that lends itself very well to the internet. Picture this. You write an eBooks or develop a nifty software which happens to have several well-placed links to commission-producing products and services right in the product. You then give away the book or tool. Now, everyone who gets your free too or e-book is most appreciative because you did not charge anything for it. The idea is not new but hold on; there is a twist coming.
The money making ideas behind this viral marketing gig are the hidden links in the e-book or tool. Those links cannot be removed by the reader, so you get a chance to make a sales pitch every time someone opens up that digital product. If one of your "free customers" wants to have the links replace with their own, you can do that too, for a price. The price is usually twenty to sixty bucks! Are you seeing the picture now? The more valuable the give-away, the more money you will make. You should be doing this dude, or Lady!
3. Website and blog flipping is coming into its own. I have written about this already but it bears repeating with some extras for good measure. Savvy marketers are building and selling websites for big bucks. Go over to eBay and you will see plenty of them. Now however, you can also buy a ready-made blog. That's right! Who cares if you do not know how to create your own blogs, or that you believe a word press plug-in is an electric house-hold deodorizer? Blog flipping is hot and you can get your own blog ready-made. Ready-for-sale blogs are usually found at places such as site point forums and the warrior forum, as well as eBay. Markups are pretty good for the seller, but usually affordable to the buyer.
The message here is simple my friend. Make a blog, get traffic, earn revenue, and then flip it! As they say in the business, you then rinse and repeat. So, as you can see, it does not take a genius to figure out how to profit from some of these new and exciting money making business ideas. Proof of that is right before your eyes. I figured this out and you know who is not a genius! You just have to read widely, catch the next wave, and jump in front of it. Oh! One more thing. I recommend caution just before you do the jump.
