South Park: The Complete Tenth Season South Park: The Complete Tenth Season
List Price: $29.98
Sale Price: $8.96

For those South Park fans who have wondered if their beloved animated series would lose its satirical edge after a decade on the air, the Complete Tenth Season boxed set provides a resounding negative. Creators Matt Park and Trey Stone come out swinging with the season opener, "The Return of Chef," which addresses both the media frenzy churned up over the headline-grabbing "Trapped in the Closet" episode from the previous season, as well as the departure of Isaac Hayes, who voiced the well-loved Chef (and netted the series its highest ratings for a debut episode in years). Not content to leave one religion alone, the show tackles the 2006 riots over the depiction of Mohammed in Dutch newspapers (and delivers a much-deserved zing to Family Guy) in the two-part "Cartoon Wars" (the revelation of Family Guy's real writers is among the funniest notions ever penned for South Park) and intelligent design in "Go God Go" (Mrs. Garrison is up in arms over being forced to teach evolution until the arrival of Richard Dawkins changes her mind). Also in the show's firing line are such sacred cows as Oprah Winfrey (Towelie pens a faux memoir a la A Million Little Pieces in "A Million Little Fibers"), Al Gore (who attempts to drum up interest in his hunt for the mythical "ManBearPig"), environmentalists (who create a new form of pollution with their hybrids in "Smug Alert!"), the popular online game World of Warcraft ("Make Love, Not Warcraft," which earned the series an Emmy nomination) and George W. Bush (who tangles with Kyle over 9/11 in "Mystery of the Urinal Deuce"). Of course, South Park wouldn't be South Park without moments of jaw-dropping bad taste, and viewers are treated to not one but two jokes about the death of Steve Irwin (including his appearance at a Halloween party thrown by Satan in the critically reviled "Hell on Earth 2006), children with terminal diseases, teacher-student sexual relations, and a whole host of bodily functions and absurdly graphic violence (the latter is provided by a trio of serial killers in "Hell on Earth 2006"). Supplemental features on the three-disc set are limited to a brief introductory commentary track on each of the episodes by Parker and Stone; while short, they underscore the duo's irreverence and highlight some of the trials they underwent to produce the season (in particular, the network's concern over "Cartoon Wars"). --Paul Gaita

All 14 episodes from season 10--including "The Return of Chef!," the two-part "Cartoon Wars," "Make Love, Not Warcraft," "Hell on Earth 2006," and "Stanley's Cup"--are featured in a three-disc set. 5 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo; audio commentary. **14 episodes on 3 discs. 5 hrs.**

The Guild - Season One The Guild - Season One
List Price: $14.99
Sale Price: $9.99

Talk about revenge of the nerds: Talented actress Felicia Day has taken her own love of online gaming ("eight, nine hours a day," she confesses in the cast interviews of this DVD) and turned it into one of the Internet's most compulsively watchable, sympathetic web-based series ever. The Guild will instantly charm online gamers and fans of role-playing experiences like World of Warcraft, but the characters are so winning, the writing so sympathetic, that The Guild will win over non-gamers too.Day sparkles as Codex, an addicted gamer whose online posse, or "guild," includes about nine regular members whose avatars support and rescue and challenge them, day in and day out. Codex is winsome and darling, but lives most of her life online--so much so that season 1 begins with her therapist breaking up with her. "I don't live in an imaginary world!" Codex insists to the therapist, even as she juggles the phone to "save" one of her compatriots online. But what happens when gamers come out from behind their avatars? That winning concept is what gives The Guild its sweet and guilty pleasure. One of Codex's guild members, Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh), "goes missing" (from the web) for 39 hours, and the rest of the gang chimes in via voice-web and IM how worried they are. But they needn't have been. Zaboo shows up on Codex's actual doorstep to continue the "relationship" he's convinced they developed online. The characters are believable and subtly hilarious, especially the two leads, but also including Robin Thorson as Clara, a mother of three unwashed, un-diapered tots. "I don't want to say Clara's neglectful, cuz that's harsh," says Thorson in an interview on the disc. "But she is," she concludes merrily. As Codex and her Scooby gang try to navigate their friendships offline, real emotions fight with online personas, in ways that everyone can relate to. Day is truly captivating, and is as talented a writer as she is an actress, and the rest of the cast is believable, sympathetic, and more than a little weird. The splendid first-season disc contains 10 webisodes and a wealth of extras, including commentary from the cast and from the director; gag reels for every single episode (bonus!); cast interviews, which may be the set's true highlight; the first-episode script, and more. The first season of The Guild is as bountiful as the web itself, and no avatar is necessary for its full enjoyment. --A.T. Hurley

Cyd Serman (a.k.a. Codex) has hit bottom. Dumped by her boyfriend, her employer, and her therapist, she drowns her sorrows the way any modern girl would--in the world of online gaming. But after a fellow player mistakes their in game rapport for real-world romance and shows up on her doorstep, Codex brings all of the members of her online guild face-to-face...with very awkward results. This title may be manufactured "on demand" when ordered from Amazon.com, using recordable media as authorized by the rights holder. Wow 2000, a 30-song collection by contemporary Christian music's top artists, is the pick of the litter thus far. Since 1996, the Wow series has wooed and won a large youth-oriented audience, with each of the yearly discs going platinum in exponentially rapid time. Strongly committed to youth issues and preserving family safety and harmony, Wow products contribute a sales percentage to charity and Wow 2000's share goes toward four antiviolence organizations. Additionally, this year's discs are encoded with software that provides Internet access while screening out objectionable content. As for the music, Moms and Dads will have no quibbles. On the purple disc, Third Day and Caedmon's Call deliver country-inflected delights, tunes from Jennifer Knapp and Plumb beg for repeat plays, while Audio Adrenaline and the O.C. Supertones pump things up. The silver disc showcases favorites Jaci Velasquez, Rebecca St. James, and Sixpence None the Richer, who contribute their hit "Breathe." --Paige La Grone

Wow #1s Wow #1s
List Price: $11.98
Sale Price: $8.45

Here we have the ultimate artifact from the bestselling Wow series: Wow #1s: 31 of the Greatest Christian Music Hits Ever. This collection does have some great anthems, but they're the kind of tunes that anyone who's given even a cursory listen to Christian pop radio in the `90s or `00s has heard dozens of times by now. It's hard not to see this release as the result of a zeal on the part of the Wow organization to reduce contemporary Christian music to the sort of bite-sized, sales-driven, best of the best mentality that fuels so much of secular consumer culture. For the most part, the result is a blanched and overproduced mess: very little of the music remotely urban or exciting, almost all of it overly sentimental. Rather than a hearty meal, it's like eating a cake made entirely of frosting. Many if not most of the artists themselves are talented, of course, and if even one more listener can get turned on to the highly personal rock of Rich Mullins or the sublime, beyond-diva-level vocalizings of Nicole C. Mullen, that's never a bad thing. --Mike McGonigal

Empire Earth Empire Earth
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $5.49

Unlike Age of Empires, which takes on a single slice of history, Empire Earth offers you the whole darn pie! You'll start a civilization, directing your cavemen to gather resources such as food, wood, gold, iron, and stone. Eventually you'll advance through every era of history, all the way to the far-flung future where giant robots armed with lasers dominate the battlefield. Empire Earth is the first game from Stainless Steel Studios and Age of Empires co-creator Rick Goodman, and is everything that hard-core fans who conquered the Age of Empires games could want. Stainless Steel Studios managed to pack more sheer gameplay, units, options, and replayability into Empire Earth than any other real-time strategy game had before it. Best of all, the game is very much based on the interface and gameplay concepts that made Age of Empires and its sequel so much fun, so players of the earlier games can jump right in. The core concept should be familiar to any real-time-strategy fan. Empire Earth has your citizens (called peasants in Age of Empires) gather resources so you can build various buildings and units. You have to gather wood, gold, stone, and food, as in the earlier game, but Empire Earth adds iron to the mix. Food is gathered from various colorful animals dotting the map, wood from forests, and the minerals from deposits scattered around. Gather enough stuff and you can advance through the ages; there are 16 of them here, from humankind's prehistoric past all the way to the future some 200 years hence. At the beginning, you'll be fielding club warriors, and at the end, massive robot tanks. In the middle you'll build archers, knights, infantry, tanks, etc. All told, the game features 20 buildings and some 200 units. One major innovation is the full 3-D graphics engine. The engine lets you rotate and zoom in anywhere, which yields some impressive visuals. More strikingly, the game engine can showcase huge numbers of units in full conflict, and you will see massive battles throughout the ages. The game offers full multiplayer, several historical scenarios, a campaign mode, and a random map generator that can be tweaked to play in any age against any number of opponents, which is a great option. There are other key differences that set Empire Earth apart from the pack. You can build prophets, who can then summon mighty calamities on your enemy. Think of them as divine spells. You can start a plague, call a rain of fire, or summon a massive earthquake, for example. Artillery, aircraft, and naval powers are also represented. You can staff your outposts with citizens to make them grow into more efficient town centers, thus increasing your power over the map and control of resources. This complexity is the game's greatest strength, but also its biggest weakness. This isn't a game for the timid, the new, or the slow. If you thought Age of Empires was complicated when compared to other real-time fare such as WarCraft, you haven't seen anything yet. This sophistication can be a bad thing for new gamers, but Age of Empires players looking for a new challenge are in for a treat. --Bob Andrews Pros: Plenty of units and ages to explore Impressive new 3-D graphics Cons: Too complex for casual gamers High difficulty

The creator and lead designer of Age of Empires has conceived Empire Earth as the premier historical real-time strategy title, offering players the freedom to customize both the historical scope of their games and the character of their civilizations. Improving upon the Age of Empires interface, Empire Earth promises to be as accessible as Age, but with far more excitement and depth. In Empire Earth, you'll command history's best-known civilizations, such as those of the Greeks, English, French, and Germans, or evolve your own as you choose from more than 100 unique attributes. You'll colonize or conquer surrounding territories and establish new settlements; plan and build walled towns and city-states; and construct temples and hospitals to protect and enhance your growing empire. Your town centers inspire defenders to fight harder, and can be transformed into powerful capitals. Wood, coal, oil, and other natural resources provide raw materials for expansion. More than a dozen technology tracks offer numerous opportunities for further advancement. Train more than 200 types of combat units from every era in history, including the future on earth. Instantly improve the combat abilities of your troops with specific upgrades. Lead your armies to glorious victory with the help of Charlemagne, Churchill, and other great heroes from not only yesterday but also today and tomorrow. Fight in good weather during the day on an open plain, or carry out surprise assaults in the black of night or the dead of winter. Attack unsuspecting enemies with stealthy submarines and aircraft. Soften up an enemy position with artillery fire, carpet-bombing, or offshore shelling, or launch ballistic missiles. Wage epic sky battles with more than 30 types of aircraft, such as Sopwith Camels, Spitfires, F-15s, Apache gunships, and B-2 bombers. Fight massive naval engagements with more than 40 different ships, from 16th-century ships of the line to modern aircraft carriers. Board and capture enemy vessels. Train colossal and intelligent mechs to fight the battles of the future. In Empire Earth, the military option is just one possible path to victory. Surreptitiously convert an enemy's citizens with furtive priests. Instruct a prophet to invoke devastating calamities, such as volcanoes, earthquakes, and plagues. Pick away at opponents' populations by taking over their citizens. Construct wonders of the world that endow your civilization with special abilities while demonstrating its superiority.

World of Warcraft World of Warcraft
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $7.77

World of Warcraft didn't invent the online role-playing genre, but it certainly benefits from the missteps of other titles that have come before. A mind-boggling array of improvements in graphics, gameplay, networking, and interface--really every category--makes this game the crown prince of the genre, a great starting place for newbies, and a challenge to any other MMORPG currently in the works. The game's beautifully rendered locations are filled with small details, such as flying birds and flowing water. A History of Conflict WoW takes place just four years after the real-time strategy Warcraft series, which chronicles a 25 year struggle between the Alliance (humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves) and the Horde (orcs, tauren, trolls, and undead). Even though there's tons of accumulated story to the series, new players should not be daunted. The background is there for you to explore, but you don't have to tread a lot of Azeroth history to get into the action. The makers boast 2,000 existing quests with more being added, many of them noncombat in nature. The game looks magnificent. There's plenty of detail and variety to the landscapes and interiors, and the artwork has a refreshingly playful style. There's not a lot of variety in the character creation process, but with all the skills and proficiencies to combine in the game, WoW focuses its customization not on the appearance of your character but rather on the character of your character. The game lets you adopt any two trade skills, regardless of character race or class, and combine those skills in useful ways. If you choose skinning and leatherworking, for example, you can fashion bags from the carcasses of monsters you defeat, which will allow you to carry even more inventory items. Expanded Commerce You can sell the items you make, find, and loot through a variety of outlets. Like any role-playing game, WoW has merchants who will buy your cast-off items for fixed prices, but you can also sell to other players at your own price through in-game chat or by leaving it with one of the auction houses located across the map. This virtual free market is a game within the game, like Monopoly somehow inserted into the middle of Chess. Heck, you can even send items C.O.D. to other players via the game's mail system. The game's Quest Log keeps track of up to 20 quests at a time. In other online role-playing games, starting players have to invest dozens of hours whacking at small prey and doing other odd jobs one at a time to gradually "level up" to more interesting challenges. WoW lets players accept a variety of quests--up to 20 at a time without penalty for abandoning any of them before they're complete. The makers boast 2,000 existing quests with more being added, many of them noncombat in nature. Where some games only grant experience through battle, WoW grants experience for exploring and fulfilling quests too. A Level Playing Field There's also a built-in handicap for casual players where your character enters a rest state when you log off from the game. The longer you're logged off (up to a week), the bigger the experience bonus you'll get when you return to battle. An enemy tagging feature--the player who lands the first attack on an enemy claims the loot for himself or his party--prevents onlookers from swooping in and pilfering items from a monster that you brought down. That resolves a common complaint of other titles. Icons and pop-ups help put complex controls easily within reach. Most games severely penalize players when they die in-game, usually by shaving experience points, funds, or both. In WoW, death just relocates your ghost to the nearest graveyard, and the only penalty is the time it takes you to get back to resurrect your character's corpse. All of this makes for a very complicated game, but the well-designed interface puts all the game's elements into icons either visible framing the action or within a simple keystroke. The enemy's artificial intelligence is quite strong too: Monsters will join nearby fights to aid their comrades, switch targets strategically midbattle, and ambush players. The map system fills in details on places you've visited, so you always know where you are and where you've been. Overall, World of Warcraft is a game that's easy to learn, challenging to master, beautiful to watch, and tons of fun to play. --Porter B. With the advancement of the science and technology all around the globe, there has been a revolution in the world of entertainment. The companies are taking full advantage of this advancement and are engaged in the development of different tools of entertainment. The companies are finding this a very profitable business for them to develop gaming tools as these tools are in heavy demand in the market. There are even gaming sites that offer the customers and subscribers a whole world of exciting games. One such game is World of Warcraft which creates a world of fantasy for everyone.

World of Warcraft (commonly abbreviated as WoW) is a world famous massively multiplayer online role-playing game. This game was the fourth release of Blizzard Entertainment which was first introduced by Warcraft. World of Warcraft came into existence four years after the events at the end of Blizzard's previous release.

It is currently rated the world's most wanted massively multiplayer online role-playing game in terms of monthly subscribers and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game. As per an estimate, World of Warcraft currently holds 62% of the massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) market at 10 million subscribers.

World of Warcraft is the latest MMORPG i.e. massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It is different from previous games in the Warcraft series. Obviously there are some similarities as well. The similarities lie in the use of the same setting of the world of Azeroth as well as following a similar art direction. Since it is a gaming site, the service is not available free of cost so World of Warcraft also requires the players to pay for a subscription. This subscription is collected in different processes. The subscribers pay the amount either by buying game cards or by using a credit or debit card to pay the amount on a regular basis.
