Here some interesting facts about Dead Sea scrolls:

1. Discovered between the years 1947 and 1956 in eleven caves that are situated in the northwest shore of the Dead Sea, these scrolls are fragmented texts that are numbered according to the caves they were found from. The area covers 13 miles east of Jerusalem and is about 1300ft below sea level.
2. Caves 1 and 11 had intact manuscripts in them and cave 4 produced the largest amount, about 15000 fragments from nearly 500 manuscripts were found.
3. The Dead Sea scrolls are mostly made of animal skin, copper and papyrus. Written with carbon based ink from right to left there are no punctuations and sometimes they even lack space between words.
4. Divided into two categories - Biblical and Non-Biblical, the scrolls consist of fragments of the Old Testament except for the book of Esther. Prophecies by Jeremiah, Danile and Ezekiel, not mentioned in the Bible are written in the Scrolls. Even the last words of Joseph, Levi, and Judas are written in the scrolls.
5. The Isaiah Scroll is 1000 years old than any copy of Isaiah and is considered to be the oldest manuscript ever found for the Old Testament.
6. The non-biblical writings include rule books of the community, warfare, hymn compositions, linguistic text, law books and other knowledge based writings.
7. The Dead Sea scrolls were believed to be a part of a Jewish library, hidden in the caves during the outbreak of the first Jewish revolt.
8. The Copper Scroll discovered in cave 3 has a list of 64 underground hiding places all over Israel that contained deposits of gold, silver, manuscripts and aromatics.
9. Found in cave 11, the Temple Scroll is the longest one and it length is of 26.7 feet.
10. The Qumran community considered themselves to be the holy ones as they believed that the Holy Spirit dwelt within them. They called themselves "Sons of Light" and called their enemies "Sons of Darkness".
11. The scrolls consist of unknown stories about popular biblical figures like Abraham and Noah, Enoch.
12. Some of the manuscripts that dated back to 200 BC were offered for sale on June 1st, 1954 in the Wall Street Journal.
13. The Dead Sea scrolls are considered to be the evolutionary link between Christianity and Judaism and augment our knowledge of both.

The Dead Sea scrolls are recognized for their historical significance and are a collection of about 900 scrolls that now reside in the Shrine of the Book of Jerusalem. Suddenly, a withered hand is placed onto your shoulder ~ it startles you. "Welcome my child", the old man smiles. "You have done well to resist the temptation that surrounds the world outside". You notice that everything about the old man ~ his nose, his chin, his ears, his gold filled teeth, his robe, his sandals, and his hat, are all pointed, like a wizard.

"Come, I shall show you the scrolls of wisdom", he urges you to follow towards a locked iron cladded chest.

"Have you eaten today"? He asks. You shake your head. "Would you like to see what is inside the chest"? You nod your head. The old man waves a long pointed finger towards your money bag, "Are you willing to give up what you have, to receive the contents"?

You hesitate, remembering the old saying ~ curiosity killed the cat. "There are no baskets of food, nor caskets of wine within" he holds out his hands, one empty, looking to be filled, the other reveals a golden key, nestling in its palm. "Just ten scrolls of paper, each with its own pearl of wisdom".

Now YOU ask yourself ~ what would you do in this situation? Give up your savings for pieces of paper that promise to guide you towards everlasting wealth and happiness. Or walk away, to indulge in the temptations of today.

The finest example I can give personally for this meaning is a guy whom I met in 'Doran's' hotel in Dublin. He had found fame as the lead singer of a popular band, but like another famous Irish legend, 'Brendan Behan', (Borstal boy), he chose to drink heavy and swear like a trooper. Such was the state of his mind.

In your personal life, if you act in a good manner towards your friends, you will gain many more friendships, bad manners only attract likewise. In your love life, showing your appreciation towards your partner and giving more than you receive shall reap tremendous feelings towards you. Treat your partner with respect and it shall render loyalty. Treat your partner badly and the foundations of love shall surely crumble. More marriages fail through ignorance and bad habits than any other and is reflected within the children who suffer within their own lives because of it.

Miller lite beer wall panel?

Does anyone remember the Miller Lite Tavern wall panel that scrolled through different scenes, circa 1996 (it was mechanized and backlit) ? I remember the "Litehouse" on the coast, and other changing scenes. I would really like to buy one. It was later replaced with a newer version a few years later, but I am looking for the first and best one.

Look on eBay. If you can't find it on eBay, chances are it can't be found. don't be discouraged if you dont find one right away. Search every couple days. One will turn up.
