3D Technology Checklist This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use our checklist below to ensure that you have everything you need. If you have any questions or want to learn more about 3D, we invite you to visit 3D 101--our center for everything 3D. To get started with 3D, please ensure that you have: A Display The first--and most important--item you'll need is a 3D-ready display--whether it be a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays usually have a higher processing power than older models as they need to display one image for each eye to create a 3D effect. A Source While your display is ready for 3D playback, you still need a device to read 3D content (i.e., a movie or a show). This source can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3. Content In order to watch 3D, you will need to get some 3D content. This 3D content will come from the source mentioned above in the form of a 3D program, movie, or game. Please ensure that your 3D movies are in the Blu-ray 3D format, as this new format will provide the best 3D experience. 3D Glasses All 3D HDTVs on the market require Active Shutter glasses to create the 3D effect. You will need to buy one pair of glasses for each viewer. Also make sure that the Active Shutter glasses you buy are compatible with your display--for example, buy the glasses from the same brand as your 3D HDTV. HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a hgh-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation--with bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second)--will be able to carry the 3D signal without any loss of quality. If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D. Experience TV programs, movies, games, and other video content with a 3D stereoscopic effect when you combine your compatible Mitsubishi HDTV with this 3D Starter Pack, which includes everything you need to start watching 3D video at home. It comes with a 3D Adapter with remote, two pair of Active 3D eyewear with matching emitter, and an HDMI cable. The Starter Pack also comes with a Disney Blu-ray Showcase Disc, which includes 3D trailers of A Christmas Carol, Alice In Wonderland, and Toy Story 3 along with an educational short on 3D presented by Disney's Timon and Pumba characters from The Lion King. Prior to 2010, there have been 3D DVD titles that have come to market that use anaglyph glasses, which use lenses tinted red and cyan (or other colors) which are used to combine two false-color images. The result seen by the viewer is discolored and usually lower-resolution than the new method. The principal improvement of today's 3D technology is the use of active shutter and passive eyewear which are high contrast and provide for a better higher video resolution experience. Today's 3DTVs also have technology that enables 3D images to be rendered on screen as intended by the content providers. How is 3D TV different from 3D in the theater? 3DTV is a large screen, immersive experience. Many consumers have experienced 3D feature films at 3D movie theaters. The DLP technology is the technology used in majority of 3D cinema theaters. DLP is also the technology used in Mitsubishi 3D-Ready and Mitsubishi 3D TVs. In theaters, passive polarized 3D glasses are mainly used to view 3D movies. Most present day 3DTVs utilize active shutter glasses. Does everyone watching programming on a 3D TV need to wear 3D glasses? Yes. Everyone watching programming on a 3D TV must wear 3D glasses to properly see the 3D effect. Without 3D glasses, the image on the screen will appear doubled, distorted, and unwatchable. Currently, a technology does not exist which allows a single TV to display both 2D and 3D content simultaneously without 3D glasses.

Experience TV programs, movies, games, and other video content with a 3D stereoscopic effect when you combine your compatible Mitsubishi HDTV with this 3D Starter Pack, which includes everything you need to start watching 3D video at home. Five Deadly Venoms Five Deadly Venoms
List Price: $14.98
Sale Price: $4.47

One of the loopiest kung-fu movies ever made, a garish masterpiece of martial kitsch by the hard-boiled master of the genre, Chang Cheh. The five muscle-bound paragons of the title have fighting skills so hyperdeveloped that they border upon the occult, each modeled on the behavior of a different venomous beast: centipede, snake, lizard, toad, and scorpion. This "poison clan" is embroiled in a complex plot to lay claim to an ill-gotten fortune, but the story line feels like an afterthought. The nonstop wall-crawling action sequences, which match up the cast members in every conceivable combination, are the be all and end all here. This is late, decadent Chang Cheh, without the poise and sweep of earlier epics like Blood Brothers and Vengeance (the noble David Chiang-Ti Lung team ups that inspired John Woo), but it's great fun on its own terms. The painted masks worn by the Venoms, which make them look like berserk extras in a wrestling film, are based upon the belligerent warrior face paint of Chinese opera. --David Chute

A kung-fu student is instructed by his dying teacher to track down 5 of the teachers ex-students. Each of the 5 is equipped with a lethal martial arts skill & the teacher fears this might be used for evil purposes. Studio: E1 Entertainment Release Date: 03/08/2005 Run time: 97 minutes

Reckless Reckless
List Price: $39.95
Sale Price: $19.77

When introducing Reckless, Russell Baker (as host of Masterpiece Theatre) warns the audience that what's to come has no literary merit; it's just entertainment. Entertainment, of course, is no small thing, and Reckless does a pretty good job of it. Owen (Robson Green), a young doctor heading for a new job in Manchester, first meets Anna (the magnetic Francesca Annis) on the train when he borrows her mobile phone (a very clunky piece of technology that places the show firmly in the late 1990s). As their paths continue to cross, Owen finds himself falling for Anna, even though she's at least 10 years older than he is. But Owen's hopes of love run into a serious obstacle when he discovers Anna is married to his boss, the imperious Dr. Richard Crane (Michael Kitchen). Reckless charts the shifts and upsets of this love triangle--the tone ranges from light comedy to something bordering on Fatal Attraction. It starts slowly, but the second and third parts grow steadily more intricate, suspenseful, and torrid. Bad behavior is on ample display, acted with verve by the cast. The sequel is actually more fun than the original six-hour series; it's only a single two-hour episode, but it takes a more full-bodied satirical approach that doesn't prevent some heart-wrenching turns. Almost all of the original cast return, with a variety of new characters--including Geoffrey Palmer (As Time Goes By) as Richard's father. --Bret Fetzer

Green is the new celebrity. Green buildings, green bubbles, green technologies - traditional building practices are by no means a thing of the past, but they will one day be, as the advancement of eco-and environmentally friendly and sustainable designs dominate corporate social agendas and private enterprises. Green is a baby, and it's going to grow.

Many have until recently considered green building a trend - nothing more than a bandwagon to jump on and ride until the next "in" thing takes its place. Such, however, is not the case. Check out the United States Green Building Council for verification. A branch of the USGBC, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) encourages innovation and sustainability in construction projects. LEED rates projects on a points scale (the points differ between types of project - schools, commercial interiors, new construction, existing buildings and core & shell), with different classifications distributed per the points accrued.

There are four LEED certifications: LEED platinum, gold, silver and LEED certified. Since 2002, less than 70 LEED buildings in California have been certified LEED platinum, with just a handful being educational facilities, and most of those are in Southern California. Enter Redding School of the Arts in Redding, CA.

Implications

These projects, the Redding School of the Arts facility and the forthcoming North State Children's Theater, represent innovative creativity and support from the local community. And consider their implications for the great state of California. Supporting these projects will, on a local and statewide level, help reaffirm California as a steward of innovation, of large-scale progressive thinking and a propagator of environmentally friendly design and practice. We will reclaim that title.

Background

In 2006, the Foundation for Promoting Arts Education Board of Directors unanimously agreed to launch a capital campaign for a two-phase school building project. The campaign includes: 1) Redding School of the Arts and 2) The North State Children's Theater Project. The RSA school campus is under construction and will be ready for occupancy in fall of 2011. The overarching goal for this campaign is to have this school meet LEED Platinum sustainability certifications - the highest rating given by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The location of this property will allow RSA the opportunity to build a LEED platinum certified 800 seat North State Children's Theater as Phase 2 of the overall building project. While the school has been funded and is under construction, the North State Children's Theater needs to raise $14 million in funding to open on time. With the programming and conceptual design completed, FPAE will commence construction of the North State Children's Theater in 2012 with the theater ready for its grand opening in fall 2014.

Involvement

Foundation for Promoting Arts Education: was established in 2004 and received its 501(c)(3) IRS determination in the fall of 2006. Over the past several years, The Foundation for Promoting Arts Education has raised more than $240,000 to enhance the visual and performing arts educational program, as well as the overall educational program, for Redding School of the Arts. The Foundation for Promoting Arts Education includes the Redding School of the Arts Parent Teacher Club, which has raised more than $100,000 for educational programs.

Redding School of the Arts: a charter school that opened in Northern California opened in August of 1999, began with 165 students, and has grown to serving a student body in excess of 450 bright young minds. RSA follows the guiding principle that art enriches, expands and prepares minds of young children for a full life in useful and unexpected ways. Using the approach that children involved in music and arts routinely perform better academically than children who do not, and low achieving students engaged in a visual and performing arts program shoe better attendance, increased self esteem and routinely cooperate more fully with teachers and peers.

Shasta Regional Community Foundation: Created by and for the people of Shasta and Siskiyou counties, Shasta Regional Community Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization working to enhance the quality of life for all people in the North State region. Founded in 1999, the roots of the Community Foundation can be found in the passions of a group of residents concerned with the well being of future North State generations. Today, the Community Foundation services the region by building permanent endowments, addressing needs through grant-making and by providing community leadership.

Please visit www.rsatheater.com/donate.html and support these paramount projects with a modest donation of $50, or even $25 will help. Projects like these will help the entire state of California by attracting new LEED projects, bringing more green building jobs and sustainable construction to the state. And projects like these will help facilitate beneficial competition all over the country for adapting to a changing marketplace and embracing the shift in cultural perception for the future. So please support these projects at rsatheater.com/donate.

Home Theater: -you're Likely Find Serious Home Theater System Complete With the Latest in Technology

There's always one house on the block that's known as party central. Chances are it's not just Linda's great guacamole dip. Wander from the kitchen into the living room, and you're likely to find a serious home theater system complete with the latest in technology. With so much high-quality programming on TV these days, "the tube" has become a gathering place for entertainment and relaxation. If you're looking to turn your living room into a powerhouse for sports and movies, here are the components you need to get started.

Television: Gone are the days of the 27-inch color TV. Every major electronics manufacturer sells incredibly high definition televisions that will knock you out of your socks. These TV's come with pretty high price tags, so if you're in the market, consider purchasing from one of the lesser known brands. The quality is often nearly as good, and you'll save some green. You'll also have to do some research into the different kinds of HDTV's. The two major technologies are LCD and Plasma. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Programming: You'll definitely want to provide something to appeal to everyone in your family, as well as all your friends from the neighborhood. And you'll want to ensure you are making the most of that new HDTV. For the most variety in high definition programming, satellite TV is the best option. While cable companies do offer HD channels, the leading provider of satellite TV offers more than 130 channels in high definition. So whether you are into sports, for more details visit to www.killer-sales-letters.com movies, family programming or educational content, you can get it all in crystal-clear HD with a satellite TV package.

Sound: Remember that High Fidelity system you were so proud of in the 70s? The single receiver/two speaker setup has been upgraded to Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. By the time you read this article, even 5.1 may be antiquated, as 7.1 is rapidly making its way into homes across the country. Both operate on the same concept (the 7.1 configuration just has a couple more speakers). It's kind of strange to think about, but sound is actually three-dimensional. An entertainment system that lacks a solid sound setup blasts audio at you from one direction. In contrast, if you have a great surround sound system, you'll feel immersed in the action. Imagine being in a football stadium during a playoff game; the noise is all around you, instead of coming just from the field.

DVR: If you're busy with work and play, you'll probably benefit from this technology more than any other. With a DVR (digital video recorder), for more details visit to www.sale-trigger-generator.com you can record programs and watch them later whenever you want. Think of this as a VCR on steroids. The boxes offered today have storage capabilities that tip the scales at more than 100 gigabytes. That kind of size is necessary if you're looking to record in high definition. With the ability to easily save all the great programming available on satellite or cable TV these days, you'll be glued to the couch for days, which brings us to our next point.

Decent Furniture: This is perhaps the most over-looked aspect of a great living room. You could spend so much time in the electronics store buying the previously mentioned items that you might forget to buy a couple of comfy leather couches to fit all your long-lost friends. Options range from simple fabric couches to fancy stadium seating. Just don't forget to budget these items in before you get giddy with the tech purchases!

Get ready to change your life with a great entertainment system. By the time you're finished setting up, you'll find long-lost acquaintances wandering in from the street.

What university has the best theatre programs for undergraduates?

I would like to earn a B.A in theatre with a concetration in acting. I was just wondering which schools have the best programs. I know about USC, Stanford. And i know Yale has a Theatre Studies B.A but i dont think its in performace area. Anyhow, if anyone can help that would be great. Thanks.
i also do know about Julliard. im looking to double major in theatre and something else.

The best acting undergraduate programs in the US are at these schools (in no particular order):

- New York University
- Yale - I understand that they do offer performance at the undergrad level, but you should double-check me, as my info could be a few years old.
- Julliard
- Boston University *
- University of Cincinnatti, College Conservatory of Music (for musical theater)
- North Carolina School of the Arts
- Carnegie Mellon *
- Fordham *
- Florida State University *
- University of Michigan *
- SUNY Purchase
- California Institute of the Arts (CalArts)
- Rutgers University *
- Indiana University *
- Boston Conservatory (musical theater)

I've put * next to the schools that I think best fit your desire for a BA in theater, rather than a BFA conservatory-type program; and that offer you the chance to double major in something besides theater. I've only * schools who have a good rep in both theater and in non-theater majors (So, for example, I didn't * SUNY Purchase, which is great for performing arts but is just average in other majors. And I didn't * NYU because that's a very intense, conservatory-type, BFA program. You wouldn't have time to double major.)

Hawaiiana Live!
