A new and exciting feature for Halo gamers is the new Halo 3 Armor, it allows the gamers' to be able to customize their online character's to better express themselves, or just to make their character look really cool. There are two different characterss that gamers can choose from, they can either be the UNSC SPARTAN-II, better known as Master Chief or they can play as a Covenant Elite. These new armor permutations can either be unlocked when the gamer finishes certain accomplishments that can either be found in the campaign side of the game or during the multiplayer side of the game.

Now since there are two different character's that the gamer can choose from, means that there are different armor permutations that can be chosen from. Take for example if the gamer chooses to play as the Covenant Elite. Now since not as many gamers' generally play as an Elite character, there aren't as many different Halo 3 armor permutations as there are for the gamer who plays as Master Chief. There are however 625 different permutations that can be chosen from. So the gamer that plays as an Elite character can choose from 5 helmets, 5 shoulder pieces and 5 chest pieces. For their character they will be able to have 1 helmet, 2 shoulder pieces and a chest pieces for their character.

Now if the gamer was going to play as the UNSC SPARTAN-II or A. K. A. Master Chief, then the gamer actually have 6,144 different armor permutations to choose from, the reason for the higher number is again due to the fact that gamers tend to play as Master Chief over an Elite character. Like the Elite character the character can choose from 11 helmets, 8 shoulder pieces and 8 chest pieces, but they can choose a combo of 1 helmet, two shoulder pieces and 1 chest piece.

There are a few different ways that a gamer can unlock these Halo 3 armor permutations. Some armor pieces may already be unlocked by default for both characters, however other pieces will be unlocked in different ways. You can unlock armor by beating the campaign in either the Heroic difficulty or the Legendary difficulty. Other pieces of armor can be unlocked by completely achievements throughout the game.

Two who have recently had to make head coaching choices, the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have also solidified their offensive coordinator position. The Niners' new offensive coordinator will be Jimmy Raye, and the Bucs have chosen Jeff Jagodzinski. The Niners recently declared that interim head coach Mike Singletary will continue to lead the team for the 2009 season, leading to Singletary letting go some coaches, replacing them with those who agreed with this ideals. Singletary is a Hall of Famer who made headlines for his tough coaching style his first week on the job as head coach. The Bucs promoted Raheem Morris to head coach during the offseason, and they are not trying to fill holes left by departures. Raye is a longtime player and coach of the game and ironically started his NFL coaching career with the Niners. He was a quarterback for Michigan State University from 1965 to 1967 and during that time the Spartans won the 1966 Rose Bowl and two Big Ten championships. He switched to defensive back when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams. He also played for the Philadelphia Eagles before ending his NFL career. He started coaching in 1971 at Michigan State and stayed in East Lansing until 1975.

After one year with Wyoming, Raye made the leap to the NFL in 1977 with the San Francisco 49ers. From there, he spent 1977 through 1979 with the Detroit Lions. He had his first sting with the Atlanta Falcons from 1980 to 1982 before being hired by the Los Angeles Rams as their offensive coordinator for the 1983 and 1984 seasons. His next stop was the Bucs, where he spent the 1985 and 1986 season. He returned to the Falcons for 1987, '88 and '89, after which he spent one year with the New England Patriots and another with the Rams. He was the OC for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1998 to 2000, followed by stints with the Washington Redskins, New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders. The past few seasons, he was back with the Jets as their running backs coach.

Jagodzinski made headlines earlier in the offseason when he was fired as the head coach of Boston College because he interviewed for the head coaching position with the Jets. He started his coaching career at his alma mater, University of Wisconsin Whitewater, where he had previously played fullback. After spending the 1985 season with the Warhawks, he spent a year at Northern Illinois. He was also with Louisiana State for two seasons in 1987 and 1988 and East Carolina from 1989 to 1996. He became the offensive coordinator for Boston College in 1997 and stayed for two seasons.

In 1999, He started a five-year stint with the Green Bay Packers as their tight ends coach. In 2004, he joined the Atlanta Falcons as a tight ends coach before being promoted to offensive line coach in 2005. In 2006, he was named to the head coaching position at Boston, which he kept until he interviewed with the Jets.

i played my first halo game,(the third) Why are the people in the base so suprised that theres a spartan there?

When you enter the base at the beginning of the game one of the soldiers said something to the next to him, and the guy gets up and says "A spartan, no way" I don't get it, why was he so surprised, and why did everyone give Master Chief so much respect? I beat the game and people say he dies but i never say or i missed it, the part of him dieing and from what? If someone can please inform me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Jon (aka Master Chief aka Spartan 117) was a part of the SPARTAN program: essentially super-soldiers. Jon is the last of the Spartans. The armor he wears is MJOLNIR Class 6 armor, meaning that is the latest and greatest spartan armor. Everyone thinks he dies because he did not return to earth after destroying delta-Halo, and so he is stranded in space, and if you beat it on Legendary, you see what appears to be a Forerunner (the species that created the "Halos" to contain the Flood) planet.
