Negro League Stats?

I do realize that stat keeping in the negro leagues was very unreliable, but, does anybody know a good site that has some sort of statistics for that period. Unfortunately most of the stars never made it to the Majors. I was just curious, even if the stats are inconsistent or unreliable. I know trying to compare Satchel Paige to Walter Johnson is not accurate using stats.
I go by word of mouth from the stars themselves. Guys like Johnson, Wagner, Ruth were honoured to be mentioned as comparisons to the Negro stars. Tells you how good they were.
Wonder if Bonds is honoured to be mentioned with Aaron or Ruth?

Im a huge baseball fan, love the historical aspect to it more than todays game. Read everything, but finding a good set of laid out Negro league stats has been impossible. (obvious why)

The NLBPA is a good place to start.

To respond to your other point, I have no doubt in my mind that Negro league stars were as good if not better than the people you've named; Ruth included. It puts a bigger cloud on ML stats of the time than the steroid cloud of today. All of baseball was significantly affected when Jackie broke in, if it had happened 50 years earlier, we might be looking at a completely different Hall of Fame.
