From the Flashdance-like opener, "Pokémon Theme," to the closer, "You Can Do It (If You Really Try)," 2.B.A. Master is high-energy fare. This CD sports an over-the-top flavor drawn from video-game-styled electronic blips, disco danceability, and the hollow tripped-out beats of theme-park musicals, all of which makes this super hot stuff for the Pokémon generation. The 13 tunes here are spread between action narrative ("What Kind of Pokémon Are You?," "Together Forever"), scene-setting devices ("Viridian City"), and character theme songs for our hero Ash, his Pokémon Pickachu, and his pal Misty, as well as rival trainers, Team Rocket. "What Kind of Pokémon Are You?" features multitracked rapping and R&B choral refrains; the superlative "2.B.A. Master" bursts with space-age Michael Jackson-inspired speak-singing and electronic riffs; and not only is the funky "PokéRap" featured in audio, but the enhanced disc contains the visual component as well. --Paige La Grone

While the inclusion of novelty songster Weird Al Yankovic (here with "Polkamon") and new-waver all-stars the B-52's (here with the playful "The Chosen One") sharpens the proceedings with their individual visions, most of the performers here have been coached by producer David Foster or other music industry veterans. Most successful is former disco diva Donna Summer, who emerges with the dramatic tune "The Power of One," which sneakily includes the Pokémon theme featured throughout the film. Twelve-year-old Alysha may be a burgeoning teen star with her surprisingly mature interpretation of "Dreams." The emphasis is on the current teen-pop trend. Dream Street, Christian boy band Plus One, and O-Town (the band documented in ABC's TV series Making the Band) all serve up the prescribed recipe for success: swooning harmonies, Hallmark-card lyrics, and near-operatic melodies designed for radio. You expected a movie starring Pokémon to miss a trend? C'mon. --Rob O'Connor

"Gotta catch 'em all," shouts teen-popper (and 1999's Buckner & Garcia) Billy Crawford on this kid-phenom soundtrack. Engineered to capture not only preteen fans of the Japanese anime craze, but Top 40 listeners who might fall for singles such as girl group M2M's peppy "Don't Say You Love Me," it's loaded with familiar zillion-selling names such as Britney Spears, 'N Sync, Christina Aguilera, and 98 Degrees. A mixture of light dance-pop, innocuous romantic ballads, and "Eye of the Tiger" drama keeps things moving. G-rated through and through, the disc's nonstop chirpiness might eventually wear on parents' ears even as they acknowledge the catchy hooks. The younger set will love it without qualification. --Rickey Wright

The world domination of Pokémon begets their first theatrical movie. This adventure is a little more complex and dark than the popular TV series, but kids who live for the show will gobble up this film and ask for seconds. Those baffled by the show's popularity, however, will see nothing better here. Mewtwo, a new type of Pokémon designed by scientists to be the ultimate fighter, decides he wants to rule the world and challenges all the great Pokémasters to battle. Of course, our intrepid heroes Ash, Misty, and Brock are there to tangle with Mewtwo and spoil his devilish schemes. The film is a tad more emotional than the show (that is, there is some emotion), with Ash sacrificing himself to defend his beloved Pikachu (but don't you worry, Ash will be just fine). Would you really expect the makers of this worldwide phenomenon to radically change its winning formula? The feature is only 55 minutes long, but there's also a 20-minute short, "Pikachu's Vacation." For the Pokémon novice, this escapade will truly baffle: the narrated tale has virtually no dialogue except Pokémon speaking their names (Bulbasaur, for instance, will only express emotion by using variations of his name: "Bulba, Bulba-SAUR!"). It's a real curio. --Doug Thomas
This is the first movie of Pokemon and also includes the first battle between Mewtwo and Mew!

Want to get at the heart of the Pokémon craze? Fast-forward to the end of this video to see the video exclusive PokéRap, a music video that lists all 151 collectable Pokémon. That's right: 151 creatures to collect. Think of them as the starting lineup of all the NBA teams. Instead of knowing a player's stats, Pokémon fans have to memorize creature types and a Pokémon's certain strength. This video contains three episodes from the animated Pokémon TV series. Our intrepid heroes Ash and his friends continue their quest, collecting Pokémon along the way. In "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village," the heroes stumble on to a Pokémon health spa where injured Pokémon creatures can take in a little R&R. The courageous Bulbasaur that defends the spa does not take kindly to Ash's desire to be his trainer (and keep him in his Pokéball storage container). "Charmander--The Stray Pokémon" finds the cute title character abandoned on a rock awaiting a new owner. The poor critter will die if his tail light ever goes out. What will he do in the upcoming thunderstorm? The title characters in "Here Comes the Squirtle Squad" are water-spouting beasts with Jack Nicholson sunglasses and a one-word vocabulary ("squirtle, squirtle" is heard in a dozen different variations). Of course, Team Rocket is there to foil our heroes and steal Ash's valuable Pikachu. --Doug Thomas
One of the first episodes of the Pokemon series. In this movie, bulbasaur is introduced to the gang!

One of the developmental factors of Jessie's evil nature is revealed in "Holiday Hi-Jynx," the first of three television episodes compiled in this volume. Long before her involvement with Team Rocket, Jessie was a little girl waiting for Santa Claus, when a red-garbed impostor Jynx showed up instead and stole her doll. Flash-forward a decade to when Jessie and company have tied up Santa, leaving Misty, Brock and Ash to rescue St. Nick and return his good Jynx pocket monster--the equivalent of an elf in the Pokémon world. The winter theme continues with "Snow Way Out," in which the gang gets stranded on a mountainside in a blizzard. When Pikachu gets swept away by a fierce wind, Ash is separated from his buddies for the night, saved only by his ingenuity and the fire from Charmander's flaming tail. Finally, in "Showdown at the Po-Ke Corral," Ash and friends return to his hometown for a trainer competition. There Ash is reunited with hometown rival Gary, a boy whose skill is matched only by his attitude. Ages 3 and older. --Kimberly Heinrichs
When Jynx gets lost, Ash and his friends have to escort him back home...to Santa's workshop!

Pokémon scored an immediate hit when it debuted on American TV in 1995: Adapted from a Gameboy game created by Satoshi Sajiri, the diminutive "pocket monsters" spawned a multibillion dollar franchise on both sides of the Pacific. The initial mania died down after a few years, but the games and the animated series and features have remained popular. Although it's unabashedly product-based and overly cute at times, Pokémon remains an agreeable children's entertainment that stresses friendship, perseverance, and good sportsmanship. The first broadcast season introduces the main characters and follows them through first part of the game in its original Red and Blue versions. Aspiring Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum must establish a bond with Pikachu, the ultra-cute, but initially recalcitrant "electric mouse." He leaves his home in Pallet Town and quickly befriends fellow-trainers Misty and Brock. As the trio wanders through forests and towns, Ash begins collecting Pokémon and fighting other trainers. (The fights are very tame: Pokémon faint when they're exhausted, but are never injured or killed.) The three friends also outwit inept comic villains of Team Rocket, Jesse, James, and Meowth. Ash gradually matures through his experiences: In episode 20, he learns self-sacrifice when he allows Butterfree, the first Pokémon he caught and trained, to find a mate and depart for their nesting grounds. The original motto, Pokémon Getto Daze! (Let's Get Pokémon!) became "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" and many fans are still trying to do just that, although the initial number of 151 Pokémon, has more than tripled over the years. (Unrated, suitable for all ages: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon
Episodes 1-26 are featured in a three-disc set. 10 3/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo.

The 10th Pokémon movie introduces Dialga and Palkia, two Legendary Pokémon from the "Diamond" and "Pearl" versions of the game. Ash, Brock, Dawn, and Pikachu visit the town of Alamos, which is dominated by two lofty towers that represent space and time. Alamos has been plagued by nightmares and supernatural events that the arrogant Baron Alberto blames on Darkrai, a powerful and elusive Pokémon. Alice, a gentle musician whose grandmother discovered Darkrai, disagrees. Her professor friend Tonio proves the escalating problems are caused by a clash between Dialga and Palkia. Unless the humans find a way to end this battle, the space-time fabric will tear and Alamos will be thrown into another dimension. Ash and Pikachu save the day, with some help from Dawn and Alice. The Rise of Darkrai (2007) is most the elaborate Pokémon feature to date: the CG effects range from the graceful towers to fireworks and energy storms. The drawn characters and computer-generated special effects are better integrated than in the previous features. The results are sure to delight Pokémon fans. (Unrated, suitable for ages 6 and older: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon
Ash may think he's seen everything when it comes to Pokmon, but is he ready to face the mysterious Darkrai in his latest awesome adventure? While touring Alamos Town -home of the Space-Time Tower -with the beautiful Alice, Ash and his friends discover that the town's special garden has been decimated! Baron Alberto, a dashing but arrogant fellow, immediately blames the destruction on Darkrai. As if it just overheard the accusation, Darkrai appears and confronts our heroes! Who is Darkrai? Is it a friend... or a friend in disguise? And as a battle between Legendary Pokmon Dialga and Palkia rages directly above Alamos Town-and threatens to tear a hole in the space-time continuum-will Ash and his friends survive this showdown and learn Darkrai's true nature?

No, I'm pritty sure you can't skip it without using a glitch. But the answer is No. And I also reccomend never using action replay or gameshark because they can brake your console or game.
