BEATLES THE ABBEY ROAD (EDICION LIMITADA)
The Beatles' last days as a band were as productive as any major pop phenomenon that was about to split. After recording the ragged-but-right Let It Be, the group held on for this ambitious effort, an album that was to become their best-selling. Though all four contribute to the first side's writing, John Lennon's hard-rocking, "Come Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" make the strongest impression. A series of song fragments edited together in suite form dominates side two; its portentous, touching, official close ("Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight"/"The End") is nicely undercut, in typical Beatles fashion, by Paul McCartney's cheeky "Her Majesty," which follows. --Rickey Wright

Love

It begins with a twittering of birdsong lifted from "Across the Universe." And once the triple-tracked a capella harmonies of "Because" enter, followed by snatches from "A Hard Day's Night" and "The End," leading into a fired-up "Get Back," it becomes obvious that this is far more than just another Beatles compilation. This is Love, conceived by the Fabs' former producer George Martin and son Giles as a stageshow soundtrack to Cirque de Soleil's Las Vegas spectacular of the same name, but appears to have taken on a life of its own. Whereas the Beatles' last release, 1, delivered the (over?) familiar hits in a nice, simple package, Love is a mélange of the familiar and obscure, all literally mixed together in one 78-minute audio collage which succeeds in reminding the listener just why the Beatles truly are, as Lennon put it, "toppermost of the poppermost." There's no new Beatles material per se, but the songs are all approached differently--some are cut together in a flawlessly mixed medley (check out "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!/I Want You/Helter Skelter"), some reassemble different backing tracks and vocal performances to create new spins on old classics; but all the songs are revitalized considerably. Even in its weakest moments (which probably work better in the context of the show itself), Love is still a formidable prospect, and one has to admire Martin's willingness to go out on a limb with such a project. While purists may complain that the cut 'n' paste nature of the project is simply tampering with perfection, at the very least it'll make them reach for the originals and enjoy them all over again. For newcomers and everyone else, it makes a fine listen, both in its sonic clarity (the actual tracks are the best they've sounded on CD) and audacious nature. --Thom Allott More from the Fab Four The Capitol Albums, Vol. 2 Revolver Sgt. Josh Groban

There are worse things in life than making your acting debut on the much ballyhooed season finale of Ally McBeal, though teen operatic baritone Josh Groban doesn't seem destined to encounter them anytime soon. As the awkward high school student-client who asks the typically romance-jinxed Ally to his senior prom, Groban performed this debut album's "You're Still You" (adapted from film-composing legend Ennio Morricone's Academy Award-nominated score for Malèna, with lyrics by Linda Thompson) as a heart-tugging, literal showstopper. The young phenom was just 17 when veteran producer-writer David Foster tapped him to fill in for Andrea Bocelli at rehearsals for the 1999 Grammys, where Groban found himself suddenly dueting with Celine Dion. Indeed, such were his fortunes that the young Foster protégé was forced to drop out of Carnegie Mellon when professional commitments--including this record--interfered. And if this collection tends to hew sometimes uncomfortably close to Foster's own MOR sonic instincts, the material offers enough challenges to display Groban's talent and the potential of his warm, mature voice: a lyrical take on another Morricone classic, "Cinema Paradiso"; melancholy readings of Don McLean's "Starry, Starry Night" and Albert Hammond's "Alejate"; masterfully dramatic takes of the Neapolitan "Alla Luca Del Sole" and "Canto Alla Vita," the latter featuring the Corrs. Many of Groban's performances here, including a neo prog-rock-opera take on Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (with Lili Haydn), seem both bigger and bolder than their precious musical frameworks, a telling hint that Grand Opera can't be far from his grasp. As said earlier, there are worse things in life. --Jerry McCulley

There's an extra coat of hot wax on Pixar's vibrant, NASCAR-influenced comedy about a world populated entirely by cars. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is the slick rookie taking the Piston Cup series by storm when the last race of the season (the film's high-octane opening) ends in a three-way tie. On the way to the tie-breaker race in California, Lightning loses his way off Route 66 in the Southwest desert and is taught to stop and smell the roses by the forgotten citizens of Radiator Springs. It's odd to have such a slim story from the whizzes of Pixar, and the film pales a bit from their other films (though can that be a fair comparison?). Nonetheless, Cars is another gleaming ride with Pixar founder John Lasseter, who's directing for the first time since Toy Story 2. There's the usual spectrum of excellent characters teamed with appropriate voice talent, loads of smooth humor for kids and parents alike, knockout visuals, and a colorful array of sidekicks, including a scene-stealing baby blue forklift named Guido. Lightning's plight is changed with the help of former big-city lawyer Sally Carrera (Pixar veteran Bonnie Hunt), the town's patriarch Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and kooky tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). The Incredibles was the first Pixar film to break the 100-minute barrier, but had enough story not to suffer; Cars, at 116 minutes (including some must-see end credit footage), is not as fortunate, plus it never pierces the heart. Trivia fans should have bonanza with the frame-by-frame DVD function; the movie is stuffed with in-jokes, some appearing only for an instant. Ages 5 and up. --Doug Thomas

Leatherman packs the full-size Skeletool with the tools you're likely to use most often. Introducing the Brand New Skeletool from Leatherman Now you're ready to lighten your load and boost your survival skills -- with Leatherman's Skeletool. At a mere 5 ounces the new, full-sized multitool keeps weight and volume to a minimum without sacrificing quality and true functionality, and that's what the Skeletool is all about. Many multitools have multiple options, but they're often heavier -- and they're loaded with more features than most people actually need on a regular basis. Conversely, pocket knives are light and streamlined, but they render themselves useless when the task calls for a more versatile tool. Enter the new Skeletool platform, offering minimal weight, compact size and endless capabilities. And with the Skeletool's integrated, removable pocket clip, you can easily clip this tool onto a belt, a pack, or a vest -- with no sheath or tote required. Key User Features The Skeletool CX has a large knife blade that can be accessed while the tool is closed; to open it, just place your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade and rotate it out until it's fully extended -- which will engage the safety lock. This locking mechanism is noted with a padlock symbol on the tool. To unlock the blade, press the locking mechanism towards the handle until the blade slides past the lock. Equipped with a universal bit driver, the Skeletool offers real utility options like no other multitool. To change the tool bits, simply unfold the tool and remove the bit from the bit driver -- and pop it out. And replacing bits is just as easy. Just press a new one into position and you're good to go. There's even a spare bit located in the handle side opposite the knife blade. This tool includes the following bits: Phillips #1 and #2, screwdriver 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch. In the plier jaws you'll find a hard-wire cutter and a regular wire cutter. The regular wire cutter is great for softer grades of wire, but the hard-wire cutter is excellent for heavier jobs -- like cutting and bending fishhooks. Multitool Capabilities: The Skeletool keeps it simple -- and light, and compact, and easy to transport. Why waste time with pointless, heavy add-ons when all the basics are right at your fingertips? With its open hardware, skeletal design and hardy appearance, the Skeletool boasts a premium stainless steel blade, pliers, a universal bit driver, and a carabiner/bottle opener ... and that's it. Key Tech Specs: Length: 4 inches/10 cm closed Weight: 5 ounces/142 grams Materials: Stainless steel, 420HC Included Bits: Phillips #1 and #2, Screwdriver 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch Leatherman makes a full range of complementary accessories and add-ons for this and other Leatherman products. Casablanca

A truly perfect movie, the 1942 Casablanca still wows viewers today, and for good reason. Its unique story of a love triangle set against terribly high stakes in the war against a monster is sophisticated instead of outlandish, intriguing instead of garish. Humphrey Bogart plays the allegedly apolitical club owner in unoccupied French territory that is nevertheless crawling with Nazis; Ingrid Bergman is the lover who mysteriously deserted him in Paris; and Paul Heinreid is her heroic, slightly bewildered husband. Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Conrad Veidt are among what may be the best supporting cast in the history of Hollywood films. This is certainly among the most spirited and ennobling movies ever made. --Tom Keogh
As time goes by, one of the best-loved films ever made. Humphrey Bogart is cafe owner Rick, Ingrid Bergman lost love Ilsa, and Paul Henreid resistance leader Victor. Their lives and destinies come together in the exotic Moroccan city. Winner of three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. With Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Dooley Wilson, Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet; Michael Curtiz directs. 103 min. Standard; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital mono, French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, French; theatrical trailer; documentary. NOTE: This Title Is Out Of Print; Limit One Per Customer.

Gettysburg (Widescreen Edition)

Three days in the summer of 1863, at a place called Gettysburg. Although it received a theatrical release, this four-hour depiction of the bloody Civil War battle was shot as a made-for-television film. But no taint of cheapness or shortcuts should stick to this magnificent picture (well, except maybe for those phony-looking mustaches). Based on Michael Shaara's book The Killer Angels, this film takes a refreshingly slow, thorough approach to the intricacies of battle. In ordinary circumstances, those intricacies might seem of importance only to fans of military strategy or Civil War enthusiasts, yet in Gettysburg they come across as the very stuff of life, death, and unexpected heroism. If the film has a problem, it's that it climaxes too early: the first long segment, detailing the struggle of a "civilian soldier," Union Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (Jeff Daniels), to hold his ground against long odds, is an enthralling piece of moviemaking. Daniels, in a heartbreaking performance, does his best film work. Other cast members include Tom Berenger, Sam Elliott, and Martin Sheen as Robert E. Lee. Richard Jordan, in his final role, gives a powerhouse performance as Confederate general Lewis A. Armistead. Oh, and you can also try to spot Ted Turner, whose company produced the film, as a Confederate soldier. Writer-director Ronald F. Maxwell seems inspired by the gravity of the battle; long as it is, every moment of Gettysburg is informed by a nobility of purpose. --Robert Horton
The bloody, three-day Civil War battle that took place in July of 1863 and saw 53,000 lives lost is depicted in spectacular style in this epic film marked by incredible fighting sequences and a memorable cast that includes Tom Berenger, Martin Sheen, Stephen Lang, Jeff Daniels, and Richard Jordan. Based on the acclaimed book "The Killer Angels." 4 1/4 hrs. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.0, French Dolby Digital Surround stereo; Subtitles: English, French; audio commentary; "making of" documentary; theatrical trailer; interviews; filmographies; bonus short "The Battle of Gettysburg" (1955).

Here are some more information for Park George:

George Nelson Furniture Design
George Nelson was born in 1908 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA and he died in 1986 in New York at the age of seventy eight. George Nelson is seen as one of the factors in Americans modernism along with Charles and Ray Eames. George Nelson is remembered as being the inventor of beautiful and practical things.
George Nelson graduated from Yale University in 1928 where he had been studying architecture. In 1931 George Nelson graduated with a bachelor degree in fine arts. In 1932 George Nelson won the Rome Prize whilst preparing for the Paris Prize competition.
George Nelson was unable to find a lot of architecture projects, so he decided to turn to interior designing and product designing and graphics.
George Nelson spent a couple of years travelling through Europe whilst being based in Rome. It was in this time that he met some of the modern pioneers. After a couple of years of traveling, George Nelson returned to America where he started to devote himself to writing.
In 1935 George Nelson became the first associate editor of the Architectural Forum, which he continued to do until 1943 when he became a consultant editor.
George Nelson had by 1940 drawn a lot of attention to his work by the innovation of several concepts. In a book, which George Nelson wrote called Tomorrow's House, he introduced the concept of a family room. Another of George Nelson's concepts was the "storagewall". This concept attracted a great deal of interest especially from Herman Miller, so much so that in 1945 he asked George Nelson to be his design director. Herman Miller himself was a fine designer and clockmaker.
The role of design director saw the start of a lot of excellent collaborations between George Nelson and Ray and Charles Eames, Harry Bertois and many others.
One of George Nelson's designs was the Ball Clock. The Ball clock was iconically designed after a night of drinking with friends, although it is still unknown to this day who originally came up with the concept.
George Nelson had a talent for commercial business as well as for designing. George Nelson used these two strong talents to create a success that rewarded him for his life. On the 26th October 1955 George Nelson started Gorge Nelson and Associates.
Herman Miller offered George Nelson a lot of money to become his creative designer. From the start of the business there was money coming in from a wide range of projects. The first office of the company was on 251 Park Avenue South in New York. George Nelson rented this office space together with Howard Miller and Herman Miller. The office took on a young Italian student who was so impressed with the work being carried out in the office that he applied and received a student visa to work in Italy. The student's name was Ettore Sottsass, and he later went on to be a renowned designer within his own right.
From the first day of the George Nelson Associates Inc business to the day that it closed in the mid 1980's it developed a lot of close relationships, and many of these were with the Fortune 500 companies.
