The Broadway theater, is composed of 40 big professional theaters located in New York's Theatre District and in the Lincoln Center located in Manhattan. Broadway shows are famous around the world and are often seen as the top commercial theatrical productions of the world. What kind of shows are on Broadway? At any given time, there are dozens of shows which are running. Here are some examples of shows that are currently featured on Broadway: The Addams Family Review Based on the characters of The Addams Family that was created by Charles Addams, the show depicts a rather "scary" American family that seems to take a liking to everything that is macabre. It is the first time that the Addams Family has been adapted to a Broadway musical. Previously, many adaptations were made on television and in movies, but seeing the family in a Broadway play is a truly unique experience. The story talks about their daughter named Wednesday, who is now 18, and finds herself to be failing in love. This is something that is new both to her and to her family. When she invites her new boyfriend to meet the rest of the family, some rather hilarious things start to happen. Jersey Boys Review Jersey Boys is a Broadway musical done in a documentary style that talks about one of the best rock 'n roll groups of the 1960s, the Four Seasons. It has opened on Broadway in November 2005 and has later gone on a tour in the United States and around the world. It has appeared in many places, such as the West End Theatre in London, Las Vegas, Melbourne, Sydney, Toronto and Chicago. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Broadway tickets have become a hot item in New York based largely on the success of the production which originated Off-Broadway where great reviews and word of mouth have jumped the show into a must see event for most who enjoy the art of theater in the Big Apple. The show is an original production which focuses on off beat yet very witty humor and the lessons of the students dealing with competition as well as winning and losing and what that means in general. Tops all of the cool dialogue and smart laughs with some fun yet simple effective music and it is no wonder why this clever and different type of musical has not only stayed on Broadway this long but has gathered quite a following as it did Off-Broadway for many. The Story The history of this show is very interesting as it has grown into the full production of today. A New York bases improvisational acting group started the early work on this concept. This group called themselves "The Farm" and performed the early show under the name of CREPUSULE, actually billed as C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E. The group and show eventually grew and evolved into the current idea and called The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee which focuses on six adult actors playing the characters of younger children who are competing against each other to win the spelling bee. The story uses this idea to launch the lives of the characters and the dilemmas of their youth, such as the pressure of junior high, the awkwardness of adolescence, nosey parents trying to direct them in life and all this while being considered "The Nerds" of their social environment. The group of six seems to find peace, friendship and purpose only within the spelling bee competition. Through the show the audience truly identifies with some of the characters and may find themselves hoping for the one they relate with to win it all. One thing which makes this show more unique then most is the factor of inviting four audience members to join in the fun. Before each show time the production gives some questions and interviews to people attending the show and picks four people to join the cast and participate in the spelling bee. This adds a nice risk factor, creates an opening for improvised humor to occur and makes each show unique and different every time. The show not only received great reviews and audience attendance but was nominated for six Tony Awards of which it won two including Best Book of a Musical and Best Features Actor in a Musical. The show became such a fast hit and won everyone so fast with nothing more then a word of mouth marketing plan that it made back 3.5 million dollar investment for production in eighteen weeks, which is very impressive to say the least. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Broadway Tickets The original musical comedy has gained steam and is one of the more talked about shows currently running on Broadway. With the amazing reviews and audience reaction along side an intriguing unique storyline idea which seems it will never grow old with each show having the ability to be completely different then the next, this show should have a long and healthy run on The Great White Way. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Broadway tickets sell for about sixty dollars with sold out show times costing much more. The Theaters box office sells out face value tickets for popular evening shows often. If a show time or event date is not available from the box office a ticket broker may be your only option for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Broadway tickets. The use of a ticket broker will always cost more then original face value, but will guarantee a legitimate ticket for any show without risks. How bad is the original Broadway version of Sweeney Todd? I really want to see my friend in the original Broadway version of Sweeney Todd in Huntsville, but of course my mom is going all "Well, I don't know, it says mature audiences!" Soo, I was wondering what it's really like. If you were to give it a rating (G, PG, PG-13, R) What would it be?
It's about cannibalism, preceded by revenge murder. After being wrongly accused of a crime, so the judge could get at his wife, Sweeney comes back to London and want her back - and wants REVENGE when he thinks she is dead. He kills people involved - and then Mrs. Lovett convinces him to make PIES out of them, not only to boost her business, but to have another strange level of revenge of ALL of mankind. I am CERTAIN that most kids have seen Halloween or Friday the 13th -y type movies that are FAR grosser. (I taught middle and HS since 1971). I actually did a UNIT on this in 8th grade one year! Ok, one parent raised heck to the principal - most of the kids LOVED it! There is ZERO sex - they talk about Sweeney's wife being raped at a party. Otherwise, nothing. Lotsa grim dark stage, and lotsa throats cut. Again - you've seen worse on TV. The point of the story is how man's inhumanity to man drives them to desperate acts - if at any point, a little compassion or kindness had been shown, all this MESS could have been prevented. Tell Mom that I am a 59-year-old certified teacher in NY, and a Mom, and I think that if YOU are not afraid of the blood, etc. - you'll be fine. I worry MORE when I take kids to see Broadway shows, that they will hear and SEE some things FAR too sexy and mature for them - even the tame shows have *something* in each one, unless they are Disney - and even THOSE sometimes have some hot dancers!
