What should I expect from an audition?

I want to audition for a musical at my high school. The flyers say "singing, dancing, and acting-" the singing part I get, we've got the music. The catch is this: I've never auditioned for a show in my life and I haven't got the slightest idea of what to expect, and I'm scared stiff of going in without some idea of what I'm doing. I realize all auditions probably aren't exactly like this, but what happens, in general?

Well here is a tip be serious and stay focused the directors like people who are determined hard workers.

Expect maybe a monologue reading.
Expect to sing so have a good segment of a song memorized and make sure you exercise your voice.
Expect to do a cold reading that is when they hand you a script and they assign u and other people to read a segment of it. You don't memorize anything in a cold reading and you only get about a minute or two to rehearse than you get up on stage with your script and audition.

Show emotion and feeling but don't over do it. Think about the scene as you read it what is your character doing and how is the character feeling.

Use facial expression don't just stand there it will be boring body language is also important.

Hint: Don't keep looking at your script while you do a cold reading, look up from the script people wanna see your face.

Dance, make sure you can follow choreography good. If you learn fast and easy than it will be no problem.

REMEMBER NO GOOFING OFF!! Directors like people who take things serious it shows that they will have no trouble. And be yourself all I can say is break a leg and make sure you act professional.
