ITAR regulations were designed to control the information and materials of military related technologies and ensure that military technologies are only shared with US persons unless approval from the Department of State is received via a special exemption. what are metal are military dog tages made of ? just curious?

They are made of a "monel" metal. This means "a patented corrosion-resistant alloy of nickel and copper, melded with small amounts of iron and manganese".

The notches that used to be in dog tags was NOT for placing in the teeth. Literally, the machine used to make dog tags had a notch in it to keep the tags aligned. It had nothing to do with putting in your teeth if you died.

Park friends looking for $150,000 for markers
The nonprofit Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park and Campaign group is working toward raising $150,000 to replace 47 more historical markers throughout the city and Vicksburg National Military Park that were removed in 1942 as part of the World War II scrap metal drive.
