Here are some more information for Lucy Collectible: The phrase of one man's junk is another man's treasure holds correct when it comes to collector's items. Buying collectibles is a fun way to remember past events and time periods of long ago. For those who know what they are actually doing, it's becoming a profitable business. You can find people collecting just about anything. What is collectible to some may not be to others. Some people like to collect items associated with movies, stamps or butterflies, while others may like to collect china or dolls. Some collections increase in value and others are only valuable to the collectors. Comic books are another popular collectible. If you have a first print comic book in mint condition, then it will be worth a lot of money. Of course, if you find the right buyer you can sell anything. People buy collectibles from many different sources. Comic book stores and sports memorabilia stores are two great sources. There are many places that people find items for their collections. There are thrift stores, estate sales and online auctions or live auctions. A lot of people go the Internet to find a variety of things at good prices to add to their collections. One group of collectibles that is particularly interesting is sports memorabilia. Although the primary audience remains fans of teams and athletes, the items are also desired by others. Historians, autograph collectors and others also want items to complete collections. This raises the values of certain autographed items. If you can obtain a Babe Ruth, Ted Williams or Arnold Palmer autographed item, it will be worth a fair amount. The significance of sports to the community at large is part of the reason these items carry such great sentimental and monetary value. Another very popular niche in collectibles is the coca-cola collectibles. They include tins, posters, glasses, old coca cola can, figurines, and ornaments. Early coca-cola memorabilia depicted women in beautiful clothing drinking a soda. More recently, many of the coke items show their signature polar bear. Some items, such as stamps, coins and art pieces have been collected for many many years. Lately a lot of people have created collections of many different and unusual items. Organizations have even been developed to support these collectors for such things as electric insulators, mason jars and barbed wire. There are people who still keep expensive collections as investments also. Soda-Pop-Collectibles.com features Coca-Cola collectibles as well as vintage Coca-Cola cans, and soda pop memorabilia of every size, shape, and type. Also, check out our videos of soda pop collections, classic ads, and more! Situated in Massachusetts, the Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) is sure to astound you with its unique range of artwork that you will never find displayed in any other museum. As the name states, this interesting museum is dedicated to displaying artwork that is considered to be terrible by normal standards. Only the worst of creative art gets in here, and these too have to meet the rigid standards set by the museum for acceptance. Artwork such as that of children and willful attempts at terrible looking art do not qualify. Only those pieces that are original, interesting looking and have been painted in a genuine attempt at creativity but turned out undignified are considered for acceptance. MOBA has the largest system of theater basement exhibition halls in the world. The museum’s 2 galleries are found in the basements of the Somerville Theater in Davis Square and the Dedham Community Theatre in Dedham Square. The place has a collection of almost 400 displays of bad art that carry a description along with it. However approximately 40 pieces are simultaneously on display on a chosen day due to limited space. One of the main featured artworks of the museum is the painting titled ‘Lucy in the Field with Flowers’ which is MOBA’s first acquired portrait that was found in a Boston garbage can. It was picked up by Scott Wilson who then shared it with his friend James Reilly and his wife. Hence the threesome started a collection of bad art that led to the existence of this unique museum. Among the other much admired bad art pieces, paintings such as the ‘Sunday on the Pot with George’ and the ‘Juggling Dog in a Hula Skirt’ are typical examples of what the museum displays. ‘Sunday on the Pot with George’ is sure to make you laugh as it features a portly man in underwear sitting on a chamber pot in an expression of what is known as pointillist impressionism. The ‘Juggling Dog in a Hula Skirt’ however is a great example of a pointless painting that shows a dog in a hula skirt juggling bones. Tourists visiting Boston should definitely make a stop at the Museum of Bad Art to view some of these “terrible†masterpieces. If you are looking for Boston hotels from which to explore the city, the popular Langham Hotel Boston is an ideal base that is both luxurious and comfortable for both business and leisure travellers.
