The oft-touted critical notion that pop music revivals are usually spawned by reactionary nostalgia founders miserably when trying to explain swing music's resurgence, a renaissance seen over by latter-day hipsters born three decades after the music's supposed demise. A better explanation can be found on this 12-track Andrews Sisters sampler: vibrant, sassy music that's influenced artists from Bette Midler to the Manhattan Transfer and beyond. Starting as purveyors of typically serene ballads in the late '30s, the Andrews' tight harmonies virtually became the nation's soundtrack during the war years when wed to swing (the era-defining "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy") and even influences as seemingly far afield as blues ("Shoo-Shoo Baby") and calypso ("Rum and Coca-Cola"). Culled mostly from their stellar '40s prime, this collection serves as a great introduction to a stellar career--and a fine rationale for swing's unexpected modern blossoming. --Jerry McCulley No Description AvailableNo Track Information AvailableMedia Type: CDArtist: ANDREWS SISTERSTitle: BEST OF ANDREWS SISTERS-MILLENStreet Release Date: 03/07/2000 Disney's adaptation of the beloved fairy tale became a classic in its own right, thanks to some memorable tunes (including "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," and the title song) and some endearingly cute comic relief. We all know the story--the wicked stepmother and stepsisters simply won't have it, this uppity Cinderella thinking she's going to a ball designed to find the handsome prince an appropriate sweetheart, but perseverance, animal buddies, and a well-timed entrance by a fairy godmother make sure things turn out all right. There are a few striking sequences of pure animation--for example, Cinderella is reflected in bubbles drifting through the air--and the design is rich and evocative throughout. It's a simple story padded here agreeably with comic business, particularly Cinderella's rodent pals (dressed up conspicuously like the dwarf sidekicks of another famous Disney heroine) and their misadventures with a wretched cat named Lucifer. There's also much harrumphing and exposition spouting by the King and the Grand Duke. It's a much simpler and more graceful work than the more frenetically paced animated films of today, which makes it simultaneously quaint and highly gratifying. --David Kronke This is a GREAT movie and will love The second Little Mermaid movie. Ariel and her husband, Prince Eric, have a little problem with their daughter, Melody, in the sequel to Disney's landmark The Little Mermaid. Melody is threatened by Morgana, the evil sister of the sea witch Ursula (both voiced by Pat Carroll). Before you can say "Briar Rose," Melody's parents decide to keep their daughter's roots a secret, forbidding her to learn about the ocean while Morgana is around. Now the budding teenager secretly frolics in the sea with Ariel's old friends, Sebastian and Scuttle. When she learns the truth from Morgana, Melody becomes an unknowing pawn in her scheme--and Mom has to take to the sea again to help. As with Disney's other made-for-video sequels, The Little Mermaid II looks and sounds wonderful (and reunites much of the same vocal talent). Four- to nine-year-olds who grew up with the original will certainly enjoy seeing the friends again. A new set of artists has come up with four catchy tunes and some fun new characters, including Tip and Dash, a pensive penguin and his blubbery walrus friend. Yet, where Beauty and the Beast had a deliberate Christmas-themed sequel, and Pocahontas told the tale of her historical trip to England, the plot here is very forced. It is pretty much a rehash of the first film with different characters. Tip and Dash are a reincarnation of Timon and Pumbaa, and Morgana is exactly like her sister, except thinner. Besides the stellar music, this unneeded sequel also misses another important aspect of the original--heart. --Doug Thomas This is another collection of Disney shorts set to music, but this time the formula works. That's predicated on the inherent strength of the individual pieces and almost all of them come through. Surprisingly, two American folk heroes, Johnny Appleseed and Pecos Bill, are the stars of this show, with rousty little tunes, humor, and compelling linear story lines (a rarity in most of these shorts). Even the shorts that are weak in one area, thematically or musically, make up for it in another. There's very little of the Disney animators attempting to be 1940s modern, thank goodness, and there's a sterling quality in the depth of the art work. A definite plus to an animation (or Disney) collection. --Keith Simanton Little Girls Night Light for her bedroom

(Note: the 1949 film is properly presented in full-screen format, 1.33 aspect ratio, because widescreen films weren't made until the '50s.) The best part of the supplemental features is the archival material, the absolute highlight of which is two unused songs, "Cinderella's Work Song" (in which Cinderella imagines multiplying herself à la the Sorcerer's Apprentice) and "Dancing on a Cloud." Bippity-boppity-boo! (click for larger image) Because these numbers were never animated, they're accompanied by stylish illustrations from the Disney artists, and they're simply marvelous to look at. The artist of much of that material, Mary Blair, gets her due in a 15-minute featurette, while the better known "Nine Old Men" are the subject of a round-table discussion among some of today's top animators. In addition, a 38-minute documentary covers their contributions to specific characters of Cinderella as well as the film in general and the vocal cast. Also on the historical side is "The Cinderella That Almost Was," tracking the development of the project through decades of original Disney concepts, characters, and songs, including the 1922 silent "Laugh-o-Gram," which is also included in its entirety. The pumpkin transformed (click for larger image) Additional musical material includes three radio programs and a short promo of the movie by Perry Como, in which he summarizes the plot amid some songs by the Fontaine Sisters, star Ilene Woods, and the host himself. Seven other unused songs (17 minutes total) are available in audio-only. The material for kids is on the sparse side, consisting of two music videos, Disney Channel personality Sally (from "Mike's Super Short Show") learning how to become a princess with the help of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew and others, a minor dancing-princess feature, and a DVD-ROM design studio. Oddest extra: ESPN's "top Cinderella stories," including the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team and Joe Namath's New York Jets, although stories on Mia Hamm and tennis's Williams sisters should appeal to the film's primary target audience of young girls. --David Horiuchi Cinderella Throughout the Years Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (1957 Television Production) Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (1965) The Slipper and the Rose (1976) Faerie Tale Theatre - Cinderella (1982) Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (1997) Ever After - A Cinderella Story(1998) Sarah (a teenage Jennifer Connelly) rehearses the role of a fairy-tale queen, performing for her stuffed animals. She is about to discover that the time has come to leave her childhood behind. In real life she has to baby-sit her brother and contend with parents who don't understand her at all. Her petulance leads her to call the goblins to take the baby away, but when they actually do, she realizes her responsibility to rescue him. Sarah negotiates the Labyrinth to reach the City of the Goblins and the castle of their king. The king is the only other human in the film and is played by a glam-rocking David Bowie, who performs five of his songs. The rest of the cast are puppets, a wonderful array of Jim Henson's imaginative masterpieces. Henson gives credit to children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, and the creatures in the movie will remind Sendak fans of his drawings. The castle of the king is a living M.C. Rebel Without a Cause meets Ordinary People in postmillennial Manhattan, resulting in Hollywoodland director Allen Coulter's Remember Me. Twilight's tousle-haired Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a chain-smoking New York University student with a substantial chip on his shoulder. Drifting through life devoid of ambition, he lost his older brother to suicide, his parents are divorced, and his father, Charles (Pierce Brosnan), spends more time in the boardroom than with his kids (Lena Olin plays Tyler's mother). Tyler takes refuge in his friendships with wisecracking roommate Aidan (Tate Ellington) and artistic younger sister Caroline (Ruby Jerins). One night, he and Aidan enter a scuffle outside a club, and Sergeant Craig (Chris Cooper) takes him in for mouthing off, even though he was trying to break things up. When Aidan discovers that they go to school with Craig's daughter, Ally (Lost's Emilie de Ravin), he dares his pal to date and dump the Queens coed to get back at Craig. Game for anything, Tyler gives it a try, and Ally takes the bait, but he puts all thoughts of revenge aside when he finds himself falling in love. Ten years before, Ally lost her mother (Martha Plimpton in an unbilled cameo), and she understands him better than most anyone else, but the timing is off, and the events of 9/11 will change the lives of both families forever. The descent toward melodrama at the end threatens to derail Coulter's delicate project, but he sets things right in time to make Remember Me an affecting experience. --Kathleen C. Fennessy Set in early 2001, this moving and romantic drama stars "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson as a sullen NYU student who, on a dare, asks out classmate and fellow New Yorker Emilie de Ravin. As they're drawn together, the duo find the strength to deal with tragedies in their pasts, but this newfound happiness will eventually face an unimaginable test. Here are some more information for Little Sister: Are you in a marriage where your husband doesn't love your anymore, and you want him to? Well you're not alone in this at all...it happened in my marriage, and many in many other women's marriages too. But it doesn't have to mean strife in the marriage, end of marriage, or even end of good sex in the marriage if you do things right... Remember that feelings do change. Especially try to remember if you, yes, yourself, had some doubts about your love to your husband (let us say, something like "I love my spouse, I'm just not in-love with him/her"... kind of thing...). How do you feel about it now? This should encourage you. Why did you lose your husband's love? Can you win it back? We should first really understand the problem in order to solve it. The fact that your husband does not love you anymore does not say that your relationship is in trouble. I know this may sound strange, but I'll explain more about that in a minute. Emotions are, as we said... well... flexible. The fact that your husband told you that he does not love you anymore may suggest that boredom has taken over your relationship, and that all you need to do is to spark it and spice it up a little. There are many ways to do it, you are intelligent and skillful enough to find out about those. But, in some other cases your marriage might be in bigger problem then you think. I know this to be trough since my little sister's husband was cheating on her and after she have confronted him, he told her that he does not love her any more. At the time my little sister and her husband were arguing all day long, they really got on each other's nerve, and become sick and tired of each other. This was the real reason of the affair and the "lost of love". Many couples lose their love just because they do not know how to get along with each other, and how to maintain the good feelings, the friendship and the good positive approach towards each other. Although she was emotionally heart, my little sister didn't give up. she has struggled to save her marriage. She has learned that many of her own behaviors have pushed her relationship to the edge. She has heart her husband and ignored his emotional needs and difficulties. She did not do this intentionally. She didn't want to hurt him, she just was not aware to what she was doing. But this made no difference, her husband's emotions made him open to an affair. He got the affection that he needed from another woman. And this is the dire truth about marriage and spouse love. If you do not sustain a happy and supportive marriage, your spouse will get involve eventually, at some point, with someone else that will give him what he or she needs. If he or she will get involve emotionally with someone else the result will be that you will lose their love. But first, let's get some things straight. Even if you have lost your husband's love, you can get it back. Even if he has or is having an affair with another woman.I've Got to Get Myself Together ( for the Sisters)
Who are you hooking up with, where is your spirit man, are you breathing frustration, anger, anxiety, have these gotten the best of you.
I know a sister that was active in her church on the praise and worship team, guess what the devil didn,t like it he set a trap for her and to her surprise she fell for it. before she know it she had two children and guess what pregnant with her third,
she felt like she was cursed everthing going wron, childrens father not with her and the third child not for the same guy. it was like everytime she thought she would comme out she was hit with something else. She had the third child and thought it's got to be over, but let me tell you sisaters something is you don't full give yourself to God the devil will keep hiting you.
Then without any notice (bam) she found herself pregnant again. Sisters you see the worst thng you can do is let the devil know where/what your weakness is.
This time she spirituall went out of her mind, she didn't even think that God woul even look her,let alone hear what she said. She didn't even want to pray, couldn't pray, the enemy was laughing at her playing with her mind, the little that she had left.
O but God heard when she cried out to him and repented, Immediately he forgave her and came to her rescue. He not anly forgave her he delivered her of this weakness(which waas a very hard strong hold, oneof sex) but sisters he can deliver you and forgive you of all that you struggle and suffer from.Just ask him, just call out to him just remember
Sisters I thank God for when depression thought it had taken over, but wait Oh! My sister listen Isiaah the prophet says they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength and you my sister shall mount upon wings as an eagle
You shall run and not be weary, and you shall walk and not faint. So my sister, prodigal sister again i say to you arise the father is in your boat, youv'e got to get yourself together..............to all the hurting sisters
About the Author
My little sister slept with my best friend. How do i deal with this?
My little sister is 17. our parents have been dead for 2 years and i'm her legal guardian. Well, last night i walked in on her, and one of my closest friends going at it. I have no idea how to handle this. My friend is 26.. She's going to be 18 next week so theres not much i can do. Is there?...does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with both my little sister, and my so called friend.
Your "friend" slept with your little sister. HELLOOO! What the hell kind of friend is that? Your sister is young and probably extremely flattered that an actual adult seems interested in her. She's been blindsided and at 17 years of age she isn't capable of superior judgement. It is up to you to steer her in the right direction. Say Ciao to your friend, call the police and report him. Tell little girlie, that your friends are off limits or you will put every single one in jail. If she's such an adult she can wait the week for sex with studman. Also, pick better friends. I'd put her on birth control as well. It's apparent that she could use some protection from herself as well as your friends.
Baby drowns in bath next to sister
A young mother's desperate efforts failed to save her baby daughter after finding the child floating face down in the bath next to her twin sister.
