Another great place to shop for Joey Bishop products is Amazon. They have more than just books! Here are some more information for Joey Bishop: The fashion industry will have you to believe that skinny ties are the latest trend. After all, part of their motivation is to market clothing and accessories to the next generation. Of course, designers pull their inspiration from the past and combine them with their own ideas about where fashion is headed or where they would like to see it headed. You may notice that trends are often cyclical. The return of the narrow necktie to the forefront of fashion is one of those trends, having been popularized in the 50's and 60's. Thin neckwear reappeared in the 80's and they are here again, worn by musicians, the hippest celebrities, and now, the general public. What is it with the love affair with skinny ties? They Are the Epitome of Cool Think of the Ratpack back in the 50's: Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Frank Sinatra in well tailored suits sporting skinny neckties. Fast forward to the TV hit show "Mad Men". Nostalgia brings us back to a time and place when men dressed better: the clean, elegant and sophisticated look achieved with a well tailored suit, often an equally well made white shirt, and a slender tie. Everything coordinated: tapered suits, slimmer lapels and ties to match. A lot has happened since in the world of fashion, allowing for the person of today to mix and match narrow neckwear with long and short sleeves, with or without jackets, and even with vests and rolled up sleeves, as seen worn by Justin Timberlake. People have gone in all sorts of directions, even using them as belts. Women think skinny ties are cool, too. They love the look as worn by their guy, and even wear them themselves. It works out very well, since women generally have smaller frames, and slimmer neckwear looks awfully good on them. It is amazing to think that a few inches shaved from a necktie can make a difference, but it does. Every generation reinvents the use of these odd shaped accessories, but the fact that people insist on owning at least a few as part of their wardrobe to do with what they please is a testament to their staying power. People Look Good Wearing Them A lot of people, both men and women, look damn good in skinny ties. It's as simple as that. They tie one on, look in the mirror, and notice that it improves the final look they want to achieve. Of course it helps that they are in style today. Sometimes it is a good thing to be nudged by the fashion industry into trying new things, and the young crowd is doing just that with thin neckties. There are already plenty of people who love narrow neckwear, and they constantly add to their collection with new and vintage finds. The vintage ones are especially sweet because they are essentially picking up a unique accessory to combine it with the basic essentials for a totally one-of-a-kind look. Young people are finding out what their older counterparts have already known for some time, that slender ties enhances their physical attributes in a major way. Conclusion Sometimes we don't know why we like something, just that we do. When it comes to skinny neckties, combining the cool factor with something which makes us feel great makes for a winning combination, something that transcends any passing trend. A style classic all its own. Jackie D. is the owner of Ties2Pillows, an online resource for Designer Men's Neckties with the largest selection of Vintage Narrow Ties for sale on the web. Children look forward to receiving a chocolate Easter gift, and even newborns may get a baby Easter basket. At least as a secular holiday, Easter is not nearly as big as Christmas. Unlike Christmas, we don’t have a lot of secular songs that are associated with Easter, nor does the holiday have a movie like It’s A Wonderful Life. Two songs do come to mind, however, and they’re both written by the same person. One is Happy Easter, and the other is Easter Parade. Both are from the same 1948 Hollywood musical, and both were written by the son of Russian Jewish immigrants, who is known as Irving Berlin. Irving Berlin is also known for God Bless America and White Christmas as well as Alexander’s Ragtime Band, Blue Skies and Puttin’ On The Ritz, to name but a few of the 3,000 songs he penned over the course of his 101-year lifetime. Berlin started life as Israel Baline. Born to Rabbi Moses Baline and his wife Leah in a small Russian village in 1888, the family fled that country in 1891 to escape the frequent pogroms and persecutions suffered by the Ashkenazi Jews. In New York, Rabbi Baline went to work certifying kosher meat. When his father died in 1896, eight-year-old Israel wound up having to go to work in order to survive. It was some years later while working as a singing waiter that his first song, Marie From Sunny Italy started him on his songwriting career. It also resulted in a name change; on the published sheet music, I. Baline was misprinted as I.Berlin. Irving Berlin was almost sixty years old when he penned the score for MGM’s Easter Parade in the late 1940’s. The film was set to star Judy Garland, Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. Just before production was to begin, Gene Kelly suffered an injury and Cyd Charisse backed out. Fred Astaire was coaxed out of “retirement” and a new face, Ann Miller, was cast to replace Charisse. The cast also included Peter Lawford, who would go on to become one of the “Ratpack” that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop. The plot of Easter Parade is nothing remarkable. The music on the other hand won an Oscar for Best Scoring of a Musical as well as a Writer’s Guild of America Award. is packed with numerous Berlin’s songs that represent some of his best work – several of which were written especially for the film. Perhaps the significance of Easter Parade – aside from its Easter related songs – is that new, brilliant, creative work can be produced by people of any age, not just young “up-and-comers.” Considering that Easter is about renewal and new beginnings, that’s something to think about. Ok ,I'm a girl and if I have to pick a girl I'd say Marilyn. If I could pick a guy though I'd pick Sammy Davis Jr.,because he's awesome. Also, you have this one black guy that's totally accepted as an equal in a time that it was unheard of.I think it would be interesting to see if it really happened that way.
