Gene Saks, an old hand at directing Neil Simon's work on film (The Odd Couple, Barefoot in the Park), here takes a stab at Simon's most autobiographical work, which stars Jonathan Silverman as an aspiring writer living with two families under one roof in 1937 Brooklyn. Following his old working formula, Saks keeps an eye on the cast's energy and timing but otherwise stays out of the way and lets Simon's story and dialogue tumble wonderfully from the mouths of good actors. Cast in the lead in this 1986 film, the young Silverman (later the star of NBC's Single Guy) makes a very good impression, as does Bob Dishy as his narrator-father. The DVD release has a full-screen presentation. --Tom Keogh
New York, the 1930s...and a young man's mind is on the Yankees and sex (not necessarily in that order), as well as trying to deal with his argumentative family. Personal, telling, and touching, Neil Simon's acclaimed comic memoir stars Blythe Danner, Bob Dishy, Judith Ivey and Jonathan Silverman. 108 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: Spanish, French; theatrical trailer.

Kristin Chenoweth won a Tony for the supporting role of Sally Brown in the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, made a memorably vampy Lily in the 1999 television film of Annie, and had an NBC sitcom created for her, Kristin! Now she grabs the spotlight in Let Yourself Go, her first solo recording. She mixes torchy standards ("My Funny Valentine," "How Long Has This Been Going On?") with Faith Prince-style sauciness ("If"), gets to show off her operatic and scat chops in the miniplay "The Girl in 14G," and shares a light duet with Jason Alexander (reviving his musical theater career post-Seinfeld). Perhaps her "Stranger Here Myself" isn't the weightiest you've ever heard, but this is an enjoyable album with a good deal of old-fashioned class, expertly accompanied by Rob Fisher and the Coffee Club Orchestra. --David Horiuchi

More is not necessarily better. A glitzy Hollywood cast and a big budget did not improve the wonderful 1957 teleplay (or its equally charming 1964 remake) upon which this version is based. This is partly because Brandy, cast in the title role, cannot act. Not helping matters are Whoopi Goldberg as the prince's mother and Jason Alexander as his valet. Their shtick wears thin very quickly. However, Paolo Montalban is charismatic as the prince, and Whitney Houston plays a fairy godmother with pizzazz. The production cost millions, and is certainly lavish, but the whole affair feels forced and overdone, reminding one of a prom queen wearing too much makeup. It does deserve credit for a multi-ethnic cast, the addition of two new songs and a hip attitude. However, the 1964 version (the original was not taped) is much sweeter and more romantic. Originally released as Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. --Rochelle O'Gorman
A prince, a pumpkin, a glass slipper ... history's most enduring fairy tale returns with a thoroughly modern twist! Beautifully produced and featuring an all-star cast, RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA shimmers to life in the most spectacular production ever of the classic musical -- including three additional Rodgers & Hammerstein songs exclusive to this special Disney presentation! Pop sensation Brandy (TV's MOESHA) stars as the beautiful Cinderella, who suffers the torment of her wicked stepmother (Bernadette Peters) and spoiled stepsisters. Cinderella dreams of the impossible -- going to the ball and dancing with the prince. Her impossible dream is realized when her fairy godmother (Whitney Houston) teaches her that with positive thinking and belief in yourself, "impossible things happen every day!" Also starring Jason Alexander (TV's SEINFELD) and Whoopi Goldberg (SISTER ACT), Disney's sparkling new version of RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA promises to be an instant classic. Now you can relive the magic anytime you wish!

A Walt Disney Masterpiece Movie. The hunchback of Notre Dame is a movie enjoyed both by the young and old. In plastic protective case.
The misconception about this animated film from Disney was that it was a movie for kids--something Victor Hugo never had in mind. In fact, despite a cute brace of singing gargoyles who are Quasimodo's (Tom Hulce) best friends, this version of Hugo's classic tale is really adult entertainment, with a strong set of songs by Alan Menken. The story remains mostly the same (though tricked out with a happier ending than Hugo's): Quasimodo, the ward of repressive monk Frollo, falls for a gypsy girl named Esmerelda (Demi Moore)--though she loves one of the king's guards (Kevin Kline). But they are all put in jeopardy by the wicked Frollo, whose secret passion for Esmerelda leads him to seek her death. At times too dark and even a shade kinky, something that may scare younger viewers. --Marshall Fine

Here are some more information for Jason Alexander:

Over the years, there have been many funny, clever sitcoms that have been written for television. Some of the classic comedic TV shows include, "The Honeymooners", "M*A*S*H", "All in the Family", "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "The Carol Burnett Show", "Burns and Allen", "Friends", "Cheers", "Frazier", etc. By far, the one sitcom that stands well above this classic list is the "Seinfeld" sitcom.
The Seinfeld series produced 180 shows over a 9 year span, coming to a close in 1998. However, the show (reruns) continues to flourish in syndication, and continues to gain in popularity. The show was created by comedian Jerry Seinfeld and writer Larry David.
The premise of the show focuses on the daily lives and escapades of 4 neurotic misfits in New York City: Jerry, George Costanza (actor Jason Alexander), Cosmo Kramer (actor Michael Richards), and Elaine Benis (actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus). The interactions of these four main characters provided a comedic synergy, never seen before in a sitcom.
The popularity of this television sitcom has been unmatched to date. The overall viewership of each episode far exceeded any of its classic rivals. This, in itself, is a testament to the show's extreme popularity, and to it's overall ranking of Best Television Comedy ever.
Some other supporting evidence for this show's extreme popularity includes the following:
Idioms have crept into the language - Many Seinfeld-generated idioms, sayings, and mannerisms have crept into the English language, which is a direct function of the show's world-wide popularity.
Show about Nothing - Each show's plot was truly about a totally trivial topic. The show's popularity grew by large dimensions due to each episode's plot "about nothing".
Comedic Synergy - The show's 4 stars uniquely were able to bond and seamlessly integrate into a comedic force. The actors' and actresses' ability to play off one another, created an unparalleled comedic force, second to none.
Role Stereotypes - The stereotypes portrayed by each of the 4 stars of the show were uncanny. Jerry played the part of the successful playboy, George played the part of the perverbial loser, Kramer played the part of the eccentric neighbor, and Elaine played the part of the sophisticated, yet neurotic former girlfriend.
Syndication - The show's tremendous success in syndication is testimony to the show's phenomenal popularity and "cult-like" following.
Paraphernalia - The show continues to generate revenue from assorted Seinfeld "accessories" including DVD collections, books, posters, and other various items.
Trivia - The show's popularity has resulted in many Seinfeld trivia contests and tests being born. Trivia from the show is invariably discussed at parties all over America.
Clearly, the above evidence adds credence to the show deserving the "Best Television Comedy Ever" accolade. We may never again see a show produced that has the same level of comedic value as Seinfeld.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Complete Series Season 1-7
Each half-hour episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm features verité-style footage of David (playing himself) at home, at work and around town, as he gets into predicaments with fictional and real-life personalities. With cast regulars Jeff Garlin (as manager Jeff Greene) and Cheryl Hines (as wife Cheryl), the series features appearances by guest celebrities playing themselves or character roles. Candid, unsparing and self-deprecating, Curb Your Enthusiasm brings the off-kilter comic vision of Larry David--co-creator and co-executive producer of one of the most lauded comedy series in TV history, Seinfeld--to HBO. The series blurs the lines between reality and fiction, as David (playing himself) and a cast of real and fictional characters are followed around Los Angeles by a ubiquitous camera that chronicles the private, often banal world of a (relatively) public man.
Season 1: 2000
The first season introduces us to Larry's post-Seinfeld world, where he is wealthy, has a loving wife, a best friend, and he also manages to offend everyone around him. It is not long into the series though that we realize that Larry David is his own worst enemy. He is accused of having an adultery-implying erection because of his extremely baggy trousers that bunch up when he sits down; feuding with a shoe salesman; getting blamed for a newspaper typo after submitting an obituary for Cheryl's aunt; reacting offensively to drinking from his friend's mother's glass; and unintentionally causing someone to believe that his uncle is an incestuous pedophile. Although this season has no major plot line, there is a small plot of Larry trying to obtain a bracelet to give to Cheryl and another small two-episode plot involving Larry and Cheryl trying to have a wire that runs through their backyard removed.
Season 2: 2001
Larry David pursues a new television project, first with Jason Alexander, and then Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Based on Alexander's complaints, the premise is about an actor who starred in a megahit sitcom finds it difficult to maintain a sturdy career afterward because of the public's perception of type casting. Larry pitches the idea to various networks, but eventually ends up alienating or offending everyone he makes a deal with, and anyone else attached to the project.
Season 3: 2002
Larry joins a restaurant venture with a group of investors, among them are Ted Danson and Michael York. A few sub-plots involve Larry being cast in a Martin Scorsese movie, an on again, off again feud with Stu and Susan Braudy and Larry getting a pubic hair stuck in his throat.
Season 4: 2004
Larry works with Mel Brooks, Ben Stiller and David Schwimmer to star on Broadway in The Producers. However, Larry turns in a bravura performance ensuring the show's continued success. Larry also struggles to fulfill his wife's tenth anniversary present to him — a one-time-only act of adultery.
Season 5: 2005
Larry's friend, comedian Richard Lewis, is in dire need of a kidney transplant operation. Purely out of paranoid guilt, Larry offers one of his own to Richard if Richard cannot find a suitable donor in time. Larry then makes many concerted, ridiculous efforts to find Richard a kidney donor. Larry explores the possibility that he may have been adopted, because of a potentially misunderstood word his father said (and no longer remembers) while in the hospital — Larry hires a private investigator (Mekhi Phifer) to look into it. Eventually, he discovers the "truth" and visits his potential biological family, where he learns that he could be Gentile. His new faith in Christianity makes him agree to donating Richard his kidney.
Season 6: 2007
Cheryl and Larry shelter a New Orleans family named the Blacks (Vivica A. Fox and J.B. Smoove) in their house, after a hurricane destroys the Blacks' home. A distracted phone call between Larry and Cheryl causes her to re-evaluate their marriage dynamic and they soon separate; Larry thus returns to the dating scene.
Season 7: 2009
Larry and Loretta are now in a relationship, but Larry soon realizes that their relationship is not working for him. Loretta is diagnosed with cancer but soon breaks up with Larry because she thinks he's cheating on her. She leaves with the rest of the Blacks except for Leon who stays with him. Larry runs into Cheryl, having not seen her since the last season, and learns that she appreciated him more when he had a job. He then accepts NBC's offer for a Seinfeld reunion show, in order to give her a part in it and win her back.
