The Beatles' last days as a band were as productive as any major pop phenomenon that was about to split. After recording the ragged-but-right Let It Be, the group held on for this ambitious effort, an album that was to become their best-selling. Though all four contribute to the first side's writing, John Lennon's hard-rocking, "Come Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" make the strongest impression. A series of song fragments edited together in suite form dominates side two; its portentous, touching, official close ("Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight"/"The End") is nicely undercut, in typical Beatles fashion, by Paul McCartney's cheeky "Her Majesty," which follows. --Rickey Wright

Chappelle's Show - Season 1 Uncensored Chappelle's Show - Season 1 Uncensored
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $9.00

The 2003 debut of Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central marked a high point for the cable channel, and now the entire, wildly creative first season can be seen, with hundreds of bleeps removed. That's not to say Chappelle's Show is perfect entertainment: there are too many moments among the 12 episodes here that descend into pointless scatology and booty fever. But for the most part, Chappelle, a talented comic slowly growing into greatness, is trying to push the sketch-humor envelope and succeeds at surprising us with original concepts and merciless execution. The merely clever material includes "National Geography's Third World Girls Gone Wild," basically an update on those topless-native-women gags of yore, and Chappelle's "Educated Guess Line," in which the sage comic eschews psychic powers to logically deduce racial insights from his callers' questions. Far more wicked is an in-your-face satire on such autobiographical film fare as Antwone Fisher and 8 Mile, in which Chappelle plays himself ascending from street hustler to rapper-comedian to bona fide savior of America. The best thing here, however, is a parallel-universe version of The Real World, in which the usual racial proportions on MTV's workhorse series are reversed, thrusting a token white guy into a Hoboken houseful of crazy African Americans. There are also laughs in "Ask a Gay Guy with Mario Cantoned," as well as a sketch about an "inner-thoughts cam" and a nasty piece about Chappelle's Make-a-Wish visit to a dying child, which decays into a cruel video game competition. Overlooking the series' weaker material, this is outstanding television comedy. --Tom Keogh

The World at War (30th Anniversary Edition) The World at War (30th Anniversary Edition)
List Price: $99.95
Sale Price: $46.48

This landmark incomparable rememberance of world war ii includes rare interviews with veterans & survivors amazing archive footage & chilling narration by sir laurence olivier. Studio: A&e Home Video Release Date: 08/24/2004 Run time: 1199 minutes Rating: Nr

Sir Jeremy Isaacs highly deserves the numerous awards for documentaries he has earned: the Royal Television Society's Desmond Davis Award, l'Ordre National du Mérit, an Emmy, and a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II. His epic The World at War remains unsurpassed as the definitive visual history of World War II. The Second World War was different from other wars in thousands of ways, one of which was the unparalleled scope of visual documents kept by the Axis and Allies of all their activities. As a result, this war is understood as much through written histories as it is through its powerful images. The Nazis were particularly thorough in documenting even the most abhorrent of the atrocities they were committing--in a surprising amount of color footage. The World at War was one of the first television documentaries that exploited these resources so completely, giving viewers an unbelievable visual guide to the greatest event in the 20th century. This is to say nothing of the excellent, comprehensible narrative. Some highlights: A New Germany 1933-39: early German and Nazi documentation of Hitler's rise to power through the impending attack on Poland Whirlwind: the early British losses in the blitz in the skies over Britain and in North Africa Stalingrad: the turning point of the war and Germany's first defeat Inside the Reich--Germany 1940-44: one of the most fascinating documentaries that exists on life inside Nazi Germany, from Lebensborn to the Hitler Youth Morning: prior to Saving Private Ryan, one of the only unromanticized views of the Normandy invasion Genocide: this film is one of the most widely shown introductions to the Holocaust Japan 1941-45: although The World at War is decidedly focused more on the European theater, this is an important look into wartime Japan and its expansion--early 20th-century history that lead to Japan's role in World War II is superficial The bomb: another widely shown documentary of the Manhattan Project, the Enola Gay, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki The World at War will remain the definitive visual history of World War II, analogous to Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. No serious historian should be missing The World at War in a collection, and no student should leave school without having seen at least some of its salient episodes. Rarely is film so essential. --Erik J. Macki

Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series
List Price: $79.98
Sale Price: $30.55

All 13 episodes from the fourth season--including "Partners in Crime," "Planet of the Ood," "The Doctor's Daughter," "The Stolen Earth," and "Journey's End"--plus the season's introductory 2007 special "Voyage of the Damned" are featured in a six-disc set. 11 1/2 hrs. total. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English (SDH); audio commentary; deleted scenes; featurettes. **14 episodes on 6 discs. 11 1/2 hrs.**

Kicking off with a jam-packed Christmas special and ending with a blockbuster extended closing installment, Doctor Who's fourth season since it was revived is a breathless, exciting one that also boasts some exceptional episodes. The ones in particular to watch out for are the outstanding "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead" doubleheader, the almost-single-location creepfest that is "Midnight," and the trio of "Turn Left," "The Stolen Earth," and "Journey's End" that round off the season. In the midst of those is also one of the very best cliffhangers in Doctor Who's long and glorious history. This is also the season that introduces Catherine Tate as full-time companion Donna Noble, working alongside David Tennant's Doctor across time and space. And it's--against initial expectations--arguably the best combination since the show returned. There's no hint of romance between the pair, as they instead knuckle down to business, occasionally helped by the likes of Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), and Jack Harkness (John Barrowman). And let's not forget the collection of monsters we meet this time around. The Daleks and Davros are the main attractions, while the return of the Sontarans proves to be a bit of a disappointment. But after viewing the series, chances are you'll be counting shadows around you, and wary of getting on the wrong side of the Ood. As with most series of Doctor Who, there are one or two uneven episodes and some missteps, but the show is still unmatched at what it does, and even more confident than last time round. That, along with the immense rewatch value, is what makes this a terrific piece of family entertainment.

Japan Travel Guide: Tour or Vacation in Japan on your Holiday

An archipelago in the Pacific, Japan is separated from the east coast of Asia by the Sea of Japan. It is approximately the size of Montana. Japan's four main islands are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku. The Ryukyu chain to the southwest was U.S.-occupied from 1945 to 1972, when it reverted to Japanese control, and the Kurils to the northeast are Russian-occupied.

With many hot springs in this country, they have given rise to some stunning resorts.

Tokyo, Japan’s city is a modern city of which is full of wonderful diversity. There are many sacred shrines and temples that hold there own amongst the imposing might of the skyscrapers.

The Tokyo Disney Resort in Chiba, is a holiday and recreation resort which has become the most popular and most visited theme park in the world since it was opened in 1983.

Mount Fuji is stunningly impressive and standing at a stunning 12,388 ft., has earned it the title of the tallest mountain in Japan. The Japanese revere this majestic mountain and use it as a symbol to the very spirit of their country. The best viewing place for Mount Fuji is Hakone and although it is almost always shrouded in clouds on a clear day the peak becomes visible.

The adventurous among you will be pleased to know that there are 6 ascents to the peak of the mountain of varying difficulties. Depending on the weather you can climb in the months of April to October although the ""official"" climbing season is from mid-July to the end of August.

Lake Ashi can be found in the volcanically active Izu National Park in Japan. The lake is breathtaking and was apparently formed in the caldera of Mt. Hakone 3000 years ago after the volcano's last eruption. This is a popular tourist attraction which is well known for its hot springs and stunning views of Mt. Fuji on a clear day.

You will have the opportunity to take cruise boats resembling pirate ships along the lake where some small towns are located on the shore.

Nikko is a small city at the entrance to Nikko National Park. Here you can experience the famous Toshogu shrine which is Japan's most elaborately decorated shrine.

Nikko National Park offers one of the most scenic landscapes, boasting mountains, stunning lakes, impressive waterfalls, hot springs. You can get close to the wild monkeys on one of the many walking trails.

Hiroshima is the largest city in the Chugoku region on the largest of Japan's islands and was rebuilt after World War II.

You cannot mention Hiroshima without it conjuring up the reminder that it was the first place in history to be subjected to an atomic bomb by the United States of America.

Thankfully in modern times, new buildings have grown all over the city. Now proclaimed as a City of Peace by the Japanese parliament, Hiroshima has become the seemingly appropriate place for holding international conferences on peace.
