BEASTIE BOYS LICENSED TO ILL

The joke of Licensed to Ill's cover--that the Beasties could crash their jet into the side of a mountain and keep on tickin'--serves as a good metaphor for a career that even some of their 1986 admirers thought might be over after the one-time-only shock of this full-length debut. That thousands of funk-junkie wannabes have since failed at re-creating its groove, breaking-the-law vibe, and ear-splitting mix of rock and rap is an even better joke. And funniest of all is the record itself, which packs dexterous boasts, aural puns, and lots and lots of yelling into a disc that can still be listened to with as much pleasure as it gave in '86. --Rickey Wright

To say there has been a lot of anticipation for Coldplay's fourth album, Viva La Vida, is an understatement. Having enlisted legendary leftfield producer Brian Eno, borrowed their album title from a painting by renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and made tantalising remarks about sonic reinvention, the world has been curious (to say the least) to hear what the `new' Coldplay might sound like. Viva La Vida definitely makes some departures from the band's usual formula, which happens to be one of the most commercially successful rock-pop blueprints of recent years. The plangent chords, emotive melodies, stadium-rock rhythms and universal lyrical concerns remain, but Martin and co. have gone out on several limbs here, incorporating instrumental tracks ("Life In Technicolour"), using subtle North African and Latin elements ("Yes", "Strawberry Swing"), and overhauling previously strict verse-chorus-verse structures in favour of slightly more avant arrangements. The old Coldplay still shine through (see tracks like "Violet Hill" and the title song) but even their classic sound feels more muscular and confident. The band's new flourishes, cosmetic and self-conscious as they may be, are enough to make Viva La Vida a welcome break from the old routine --Danny McKenna People en Español Cuando Coldplay anunció con bombo y platillo que su cuarto disco, bajo el ambicioso título de Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, vendría acompañado de la producción de Brian Eno, dos escenarios se convertían en posibilidad: o se trataba de su peor álbum o la obra maestra de su carrera. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español )

Fantasia (Walt Disney's Masterpiece) [VHS] Fantasia (Walt Disney's Masterpiece) [VHS]
List Price: $24.99
Sale Price: $2.88

Along with Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, the anthology set contains a third disc that examines a segment of both movies in detail. Each segment has an introduction that has experts (including Leonard Maltin), producer Roy E. Disney, or the animators setting up the piece's history. Notes on the music and dozens of design photos are included on all the segments, although others offer more intriguing features. Abandoned animation is shown on many segments, as are a few behind-the-scenes shorts; the most intriguing are experts from Walt Disney's hosted documentaries on how his company made movies. As for the photos, they are awkwardly catalogued and only the most patient of viewers would want to look at all of them. In some segments, though, these images are entertainingly produced as a "story reel," presenting these images--rough animation, sketches, pastel paintings--with the musical accompaniment. For those looking for a more well-rounded view of the films, the two one-hour documentaries on each film's disc lay the groundwork, but none of the anthology looks at how the first film was seen through the years or gives time to anyone who wasn't gung-ho about every element of the films. There is hardly a mention of embarrassing stereotypes that were matted (and still are) out of the "Pastoral" segment, or the intriguing aspect of the film as a '60s icon for the ultimate head-trip. Disney does let their guard down to show sequences that were being readied in 1940 for future editions (including a recently restored short scored to "Clair de Lune"). Most tantalizing is a look at how the special effects were done in the original film. The guide is a scrapbook that one of the technicians kept and was discovered only in 1990. Fans can only hope a reproduction will be made available someday. --Doug Thomas

Super Bowl XXXI - Green Bay Packers Championship Video [VHS] Super Bowl XXXI - Green Bay Packers Championship Video [VHS]
List Price: $19.98
Sale Price: $0.86

Cheeseheads, rejoice. This video is for those lovable, loyal Packer fans who wear the yellow foam slices of cheese on their heads: a celebration of a marvelous 13-3 regular-season record that culminates in a 35-21 victory over New England in the 1997 Super Bowl. As usual, NFL Films rises to the occasion with an excellent video narrated by the unmistakable voice of Harry Kalas. It not only dissects the Packers' return to glory, it provides insight into the fanatical followers of the only completely publicly owned franchise in the smallest city of pro sports. There is a special relationship between the fans, the city, and the team unlike any other in sports. Beyond that, this video recaps the MVP season of quarterback Brett Favre, the resurrection of washed-up kick-returner Desmond Howard, and the culmination of the highly religious Reggie White's long journey to the NFL promised land. It also examines the marvelous coaching job by Mike Holgrem in overcoming a rash of serious injuries to his wide receivers. In the 1960s, Green Bay became known as "Titletown, USA" during one of the most dominating championship runs in all of sports. It took 29 years for the Pack to make it all the way back. And this celebration is the culmination of that journey. Cheeseheads and all pro-football fans will enjoy reliving the return of the Lombardi Trophy to the town Vince Lombardi made famous. --Gordie Sholtys

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete [Blu-ray] Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete [Blu-ray]
List Price: $26.99
Sale Price: $4.90

The question facing any viewer of the Japanese CG feature Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is: do you have to know the games on which it's based in order to understand the film? And the answer is: it certainly helps. But even complete novices (i.e., most parents) in the Final Fantasy world will find some entertainment in its wealth of fantasy-based action, and the animation never fails to astonish. Picking up two years after an epic battle between the forces of good (represented by brooding soldier Cloud) and evil (Cloud's former general, Sephiroth), FFVII opens in the devastated city of Midgard, whose youthful occupants suffer from a ghastly disease known as Geostigma. A trio of brothers arrives with what appears to be a cure for the plague, but their gesture conceals a more sinister purpose: to revive Sephiroth and bring about the end of the world. Cloud and his companions must once again rise to the occasion to stop the siblings and the revived Sephiroth from unleashing total destruction. Complex and self-referential to the point of occasional incomprehension, Final Fantasy VII will definitely be most appreciated by fans of the game series, but if others can look past the numbing dialogue and frenetic action (which is a bit too intense for very young children), the film offers a carefree and action-packed viewing experience. The two-disc set contains the original Japanese language version of the film as well as an English-dubbed edition (Rachel Leigh Cook and Christy Carlson Romano, among others, provide the vocal talent) and a version edited for the Venice Film Festival. A 30-minute featurette that recaps the Final Fantasy story up to VII, as well as a making-of documentary, deleted scenes, and promotions for future Final Fantasy VII games and products round out the extras. --Paul Gaita Stills from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (click for larger image)

Two years after the conclusion of the popular video game "Final Fantasy VII," former soldier and mercenary Cloud Strife's attempt to live a peaceful life is disrupted when he finds himself protecting an orphanage from a trio of evil brothers, in this stylish computer-animated adventure. 101 min. Fairy Tail: Part 1 (Blu-ray/DVD Combo) Fairy Tail: Part 1 (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
List Price: $54.98
Sale Price: $28.95

Based on the manga by Hiro Mashima, the comedy-adventure Fairy Tale (2009) ran for 111 episodes in Japan, and it's easy to understand why: the series has a freewheeling nuttiness that plays like an irreverent mash-up of Slayers, Bleach, and One Piece. Lucy, a young celestial wizard, arrives in the city of Magnolia, hoping to join a sorcerer's guild. She stumbles into the headquarters of the eccentric Fairy Tale guild, and quickly forms a team with three of its zaniest members. Rough-and-tumble Natsu is a powerful fire wizard; he travels with his blue talking cat, Happy. However, Natsu gets violent motion sickness on trains, boats, carriages, and every other conveyance, which undercuts his effectiveness. Gary is an equally strong ice wizard, but he keeps losing his clothes and has to fight enemies in his boxers. Erza's transformative magic awes Lucy, but the hot-tempered redhead is no saner than the others. The improbable quartet tackles various assignments, battling demons and evil wizards. They invariably come out on top, but wreak havoc on their surroundings--which lands them in trouble with the Council of Elders. In a four-part adventure (episodes 5 to 8), they destroy a cursed flute whose melodies kill everyone within earshot. But they blow up a railway station, level a trestle bridge, and flatten an entire village in the process. Although many anime series have offered similar blends of slapstick and supernatural derring-do, director Shinji Ishihara and his crew keep the material fresh and funny. Voice actors Todd Haberkorn (Natsu) and Newton Pittman (Gary) bring a lively edge to their feuding friendship, and Cherami Leigh (Lucy) avoids the clichés of the ingénue role. Fairy Tale spawned an OAV in 2011, and a theatrical feature is slated for 2012. (Rated TV 14: cartoon violence, minor risqué humor, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon (1. The Fairy Tale, 2. Dragon Ball: Season One Dragon Ball: Season One
List Price: $34.98
Sale Price: $15.49

In 1986, the animated adaptation of Akira Toriyama's manga Dragon Ball debuted on Japanese television, launching one of the most popular franchises in anime history. Dragon Ball introduced a special mixture of male bonding, rigorous training, martial arts fighting, slapstick comedy, and sci-fi action that scored a huge hit with boys and led to the follow-ups Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT--and numerous imitators. A small boy from another planet, Goku commands super-human strength, but he was raised in the remote mountains by an old man and he knows little of the world. Goku meets Bulma, who's trying to assemble the seven magical Dragon Balls so she can wish for a boyfriend. The naive boy and the hot-tempered girl join forces, then form a quarrelsome alliance with Oolong, the shape-shifting pig, and Yamcha, a dashing bandit with a metamorphic familiar, Puar. The heroes compete for the Dragon Balls against the pint-sized Emperor Pilaf (who wants to rule the world). After defeating Pilaf, Goku goes to study martial arts with Master Roshi, a lecherous but extraordinarily skilled old man. Goku and fellow student Krillin develop formidable powers that they use in the World Martial Arts Tournament. These episodes set the pattern for Dragon Ball and numerous other series: humans and creatures of all description train endlessly, then gather to pound the ramen out of each other before an audience. Naturally, the hero wins in an extended final match. The first adventures are lighter in tone and more broadly comic than the beginning of the darker Red Ribbon Saga. For years, the first13 episodes of Dragon Ball were only available in the U.S. in the heavily edited set Saga of Goku, to the chagrin of the fans. Following their successful release of the complete Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT, Funimation is presenting Dragon Ball uncut and digitally restored. The series probably looks better now than it did when it premiered, as it was reportedly filmed in 16mm. Note: The sight of the prepubescent Goku and Krillin running around naked doesn't bother Japanese audiences. (Rated TV 14, but appropriate for ages 12 and up: nudity, risqué and toilet humor, cartoon violence, ethnic stereotypes, alcohol and tobacco use) --Charles Solomon (1. Secret of the Dragon Balls, 2. Here are some more information for Japan Game:
Japan Game

Japan is renowned for its advanced and high technology. In fact, Sudoku has surpassed most of its neighbors. This isn't surprising though since Japan is known to be among the world's best manufacturers of machines and high-tech equipment. In addition to it, Japan is also known for the creation of the best online and PC games. Once again, Japan has proven its ability to create a game which will transcend every other game available when it has introduced the game called Sudoku.

Sudoku is a game which involves placing of numbers. Invented and widely popularized in Japan, Sudoku was launched later on the net and instantly became the most popular game in the world. Sudoku is conceptually based on a puzzle game which happens to be the crossword.

The only thing that distinguishes the two being Sudoku making use of numbers from one to nine instead of letters. You have to place these numbers correctly in their columns and squares which are there in nine 3 by 3 blocks. These numbers should appear in their correct order and that is the real challenge. If you love brain teasers, Sudoku is the puzzle game for you.

Although Sudoku deals with numbers, it is not considered to be a math game. It is because of the simple reason that there is no usage of any mathematical concept or formula. Sudoku games call for lateral thinking which also happens to be one of the basic reasons why it created a big impact all around the globe.

A Sudoku is very simple to solve. No complicated instructions are involved. The most amazing and best thing about the game is that competing with other players all around the world is possible. How? All you need to have is an internet enabled computer and registration to an online Sudoku game provider.

Registration is totally free. So it's fun for you. You'll be competing with the other players from all parts of the globe. Now isn't that cool? All winners will be posted on a leader's board of the site. The winner is the one who completes the puzzle the fastest.

There isn't any age limit to play Sudoku. Everyone can join the game and enjoy it. This makes it ideal for families where there is a need for quality time spending. Such games are ideal to exercise the brain. Can you imagine any game which lets you learn and enjoy simultaneously? Though there are games which can provide the same benefit, the effect on you is entirely different.

Apart from that, almost all educational games online usually interest a player only for a very short period. But Sudokus are different from them as the more one plays with it, the more one becomes addicted to it. Unlike any other game which has a maximum level, Sudoku's aren't restricted by any level system, all the more reason why many people continuously prefer playing it.

Sudokus give you confidence and also a sense of fulfillment and achievement after completing a very hard game. One more thing to remember is that every puzzle has unique solutions which can be obtained only using logic. Plus, cheating is not possible on a Sudoku puzzle and that makes Sudoku even more worthwhile and challenging.

Besides the internet, you can also find them in magazines, newspapers etc. You can also download a Sudoku onto your mobile or pc. All you have to do is simply choose whichever downloader is suitable. Printable e-books are available online and you can purchase them.

For example, Gals panic is the classic arcade game, Qix where the objective is to uncover 80% or more the picture of the girl, and Magical Drop is a puzzle game where the player makes chains of colored spheres, and the girls act only as a backdrop. In many cases, pictures of girls are used as a mainstream for skilled play, such as a strip Mahjong.

Pornographic content

The amount and degree of pornography used in bishojo games covers a wide spectrum. In almost all the popular games, the girls are fully clothed, with the skimpiest clothing being in swimsuits. The explicitness ranges from showing panties and bras, to softcore nudity, to explicit sex, to hardcore brutality and fetishism appealing to niche markets. The degree of pornography in a game is often been estimated from its atmosphere: most mainstream games have a bright atmosphere with sunny days and cute artwork, whereas the hardcore will usually be dark and gloomy.

Players who go for non-pornographic bishojo games, especially renai games, always say that they enjoy them mainly for their stories, drama and characters. This may be true, but another major point of appeal is the pictures and voices of attractive women, even if they in clothes.
