Point one: More and more Baby Boomers have taken to cruise ship vacations as their favorite way of getting away from it all.

Point two: Most Baby Boomers have kids, and most of those kids are approaching or in their teens.

Point three: Most Baby Boomers are reluctant to leave their teenagers behind when they head for the high seas, and prefer to vacation as a family.

The cruise industry is fully cognizant of all of these points, and they are doing their best to make sure that every member of their Baby Boomer families are provided with exactly the sort of cruise experience which will be entertaining, relaxing, and most of all, FUN. Most cruise lines now offer planned and supervised activities geared for teenagers throughout the day, because they know that the happy teen customer of today will be the paying adult customer of tomorrow.

Teen centers and video arcades are standard on all ships offering family cruises, and many cruise lines have age-based programs which will tempt your reluctant teen from spending his or her time moping about in the cabin dreaming of the friends or love interest left behind. Ships with good teen activities will schedule nighttime dances or pool parties where the teens can escape from Mom, Dad, and their annoying younger siblings. Many of the best cruise lines also have Internet cafes so your teen's email lifeline is never far away.

Some cruise lines, including Carnival and Disney, go out of their way to make their cruises fun for family members of all ages. For teens in particular, Carnival Cruise Lines offers Camp Carnival for kids up to age 15, and a Fountain Fun card, which will let you tens drinks as many soft drinks as they like at any hour of the day or night. They also have 24-hour pizzerias.

Carnival's Destiny-class ships have high-tech video game arcades, and its Fun Ships have 2,400 square foot Fun House activity centers. When it comes to catering to the kids and teens, however, few cruise lines have as much to offer as Disney.

The cruise ships Disney magic and Disney Wonder each have almost an entire deck (1500 square feet) set aside for kid and teen activities, including a teen club with its own coffee bar and video arcade. Disney debuts its latest theatrical releases aboard ship on the same day that they are released into theaters, so if there's a teen offering from Disney studios while you're on your cruise, your teenagers won't have to wait to see it!

Royal Caribbean will keep your teens busy in their own nightclubs and huge video arcades, and keep them happily fed with burgers and shakes at their Johnny Rocket's restaurants. Their latest ships also have a teen pool complete with water slide and (for a small fee) the use of a rock climbing wall to provide a crow's nest view of the surrounding sea. Organized activities for teens are held throughout the day beginning at 10:00 AM. Karaoke contests are open to passengers of all ages, and the teens are often the most enthusiastic performers!

Royal Caribbean is also among the handful of cruise lines which has onboard skating rinks of some of its ships, where your teens can either skate or enjoy a replica of the Ice Capades. They will love the contrast between ice skating and the surfing experience they'll get on Royal Caribbean's Flowrider, where the surf's always up!

Cruise vacations are no longer the domain of honeymooners and retirees. They are genuinely family-friendly experiences, with entertainment and social activities to appeal to even the most sophisticated teens!

Cruise Ships And Your Teen

When it comes to taking a family vacation, it is often hard to find a vacation destination that targets the whole family.  This becomes even more difficult when teenagers are involved.  If you and your family are interested in having a relaxing, yet exciting vacation, you are encouraged to consider vacationing aboard a cruise ship.

Cruise ships are not what they were in the past.  They have evolved in something spectacular.  Aboard a cruise ship, you are granted access to a number of services, facilities, and activities.  If you are the parent of a teenager, you may be wondering what cruise ship activities will peak their internet.  The activities found aboard a cruise ship will all depend on the cruise line and ship in question. Despite the fact that cruise ship activities vary, there are number of common activities that are targeted towards teenagers.

Children of all ages, especially teenagers, enjoy swimming and relaxing by the side of a pool.  All vacation cruise ships come equipped with a pool.  These onboard pools are ideal for teenagers.  With a lifeguard on duty, you can feel comfortable allowing your teenager to swim unattended while you enjoy other onboard activities.  Most cruise ships have a standard adult size swimming pool, but additional pool styles may be available.  A limited number of cruise ships have onboard lap pools or wave pools.

Arcade rooms can also be found aboard many cruise ships.  Many arcade rooms are targeted towards younger children, but not all are.  On a number of cruise ships, you may be able to find numerous arcade games that have a focus on teenagers. These games may include, but are not limited to fighting games, air hockey, and other interactive sports games.  Most games found inside a cruise ship arcade require coins or tokens.  If you plan on leaving your teenager unattended, be sure that they have enough money to play the games of their choice.  

In addition to a swimming pool and an arcade room, most popular cruise lines have an onboard movie theater.  At any given point throughout the day, a popular movie could be playing.  Most of the movies shown onboard a cruise ship are designed for adults and teenagers.  If you do not have a restriction on the types of movies that
your teenager can watch, they can have fun watching a movie in state-of-the-art movie theatres.   

Arcade rooms, movie theatres, and swimming pools are facilities found on most cruise lines. Additional teen activities may be found aboard particular ships.  These activities may include surfing, rock climbing, or ice skating.  To determine whether these additional activities can be found aboard a cruise ship, you are encouraged to examine the cruise ship's layout.  All facilities and onboard activities should be explained in a diagram or in a printed explanation.

One of the few cruise lines that currently offers onboard ice skating is Royal Caribbean International.  Royal Caribbean's ship, Adventure of the Seas, has one of the most well-known onboard ice skating rinks.  In addition to enjoying open skating, ice skating shows are offered on a regular basis. These shows can come in the form of a competition or an ice capades show that is geared towards the whole family.  

The popularity of rock climbing walls has increased overtime.  Onboard rock climbing walls are fun for teenagers. Similar activities are often explored in high school gym classes. For a small fee, your teenager could spend the day climbing high in the air.  In addition to the excitement of climbing itself, extra excitement and thrills are added when you realize exactly how high you are above the sea.

A recent development in cruise ship activities has caused excitement among many teenager travelers.  This activity is known as onboard surfing.  Royal Caribbean recently developed the "Flowrider," aboard their cruise ship, Freedom of the Seas. The "Flowrider," simulates surfing waves in a safe and fun environment.  This onboard activity is something that many teenagers would enjoy doing, time and time again.

The foresaid activities are just a few of the many that target teenagers.  If you want to take a cruise, but are worried that your child will be bored, do not worry.  It is easy to see that most cruise ships have a large number of fun and exciting activities that are geared towards teenagers, just like your own.

Something is wrong with God?

I was raised Christian. I tried to believe in God. I really did. But the more I looked around, the longer I lived, the more I realized something is ****** up. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption and the ice capades. Something is defiantly wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the resume of a supreme being. This is the kind of stuff you would expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. In any decently run universe, God would have been out on his all powerful ass a long time ago. So, if there is a God, I think any reasonable person would agree that he is at least incompetent, and maybe, just maybe, doesn't give a shit. This would explain a lot of these bad results.

Praise be Jesus for the Ice capades.
