My Hydrangea is huge and has a lot of grey dead wood on it can I trim it now and hope it will bloom?

It hasn't been taken care of in at least a year and I don't know when the last time it bloomed was, we just bought the house. I think it a PG since it seems to be in tree form but its hard to tell its so overgrown with old growth.

The Hydrangea Paniculata(PG) can be pruned at any time for aesthetic reasons . The grey dead wood can be removed easily, it will just break off or you can prune it off. If you prune in spring you will be removing some of the bloom buds but thats OK. If you prune now you will get many blooms late next summer. If it is a tree form that means it was grafted onto a single trunk. Do not prune below that graft, unless there are suckers or extra branches coming off below that graft that you do not desire.
