At this point, who else but Tony Bennett would have the clout to round up stars on the scale of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bono, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand for some duets? (Note also that unlike some similar projects, all the parties involved on this CD were alive when it was recorded!) The material consists of relatively obvious classics in standard big-band arrangements, and Bennett himself is in top form at age 80, so much so that he doesn't need anybody else to handle "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." But the fun comes from checking out how his collaborators fare. The Dixie Chicks provide wonderful Andrews Sisters-type harmonies on the percolating version of "Lullaby of Broadway" that opens the festivities. The best songs tend to be the ones where Bennett's slightly craggy voice is juxtaposed to smooth female ones, like Diana Krall on "The Best Is Yet to Come," familiar accomplice k.d. lang on the sultry "Because of You" and Streisand-perhaps Bennett's only equal in stature at this pointon "Smile." Among the less expected guests, soulman John Legend is a revelation on the hard-swinging "Sing, You Sinners," while George Michael confirms he's quite the crooner on "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" Elvis Costello, Celine Dion or Juanes don't sound as comfortable, and sometimes it feels as if they overdo it to compensate, but overall this collection is among the best of its kind, with most guests rising to the occasion. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

BEATLES THE ALBUM BLANCO (2CD) (EDICION LIMITADA)
Better known as the "White Album," this was meant to be the record that brought them back to earth after three years of studio experimentation. Instead, it took them all over the place, continuing to burst the envelope of pop music. Lennon and McCartney were still at the height of their powers, with Lennon in particular growing into one of rock's towering figures. But even McCartney could still rock, and the amazement on "Helter Skelter" was that he had vocal cords at the end. From Beach Boys knock-offs to reggae and to the unknown ("Revolution #9"), this has it all. Some records have legend written all over them; this is one. --Chris Nickson

This is the first video of this children's favorite series that's not just a TV segment. The introduction, created for the video, follows Blue's intrepid friend Steve as he visits a kid's house to learn the "Birthday Candle Dance." It's only six or so minutes but it does add to the fun. Then it's on to Blue's fabulous birthday party, where she has left some clues for what she really wants for her birthday. Another winner. --Doug Thomas

Disney's 1959 animated effort was the studio's most ambitious to date, a widescreen spectacle boasting a gorgeous waltz-filled score adapting Tchaikovsky. In the 14th century, the malevolent Maleficent (not dissimilar to the wicked Queen in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs taunts a king that his infant Aurora will fatally prick her finger on a spinning wheel before sundown on her 16th birthday. This, of course, would deny her a happily-ever-after with her true love. Things almost but not quite turn out that way, thanks to the assistance of some bubbly, bumbling fairies named Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. It's not really all that much about the title character--how interesting can someone in the middle of a long nap be, anyway? Instead, those fairies carry the day, as well as, of course, good Prince Phillip, whose battle with the malevolent Maleficent in the guise of a dragon has been co-opted by any number of animated films since. See it in its original glory here. And Malificent's castle, filled with warthogs and demonic imps in a macabre dance celebrating their evil ways, manages a certain creepy grandeur. --David Kronke On the DVDSleeping Beauty was the last and most lavish of Walt Disney's animated fairy tales. He told the artists not to hurry and to give him "a moving illustration": The film required almost four and one-half years and one million finished drawings. Instead of the 19th century storybook illustrations that had influenced the look of Snow White and Pinocchio, the artists adapted the flattened perspective and jewel-like colors of 15th century French illuminated manuscripts. The results remain unmatched for sheer visual opulence. However, Sleeping Beauty suffers from a weak story: the vision of an ageless princess slumbering in a vine-shrouded tower was replaced with elements of Snow White and a boy-meets-girl musical. The evil Maleficent and the three Good Fairies (Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather) dominate the film, rather than Princess Aurora and Prince Philip. Sleeping Beauty was originally released in 70mm, and the Blu-ray edition restores the film to its original splendor. (Many earlier releases trimmed the wide-screen images and/or muted the glowing palatte.) The Bonus DVD looks good on a flat screen monitor, but it pales in comparison to the richness of the Blu-ray. In addition to the commentaries and a making-of documentary, the set includes myriad extras that vary widely in quality. Nostalgia buffs will enjoy the recreation of the old Sleeping Beauty's Castle attraction in Disneyland, and the TV program "Four Artists Paint One Tree" provides a welcome showcase for key talents from the film. But the CG animation of the dragon and the voice imitations of the Good Fairies fail to capture the magic of the originals in the "Dragon Encounter"; the "Maleficent's Challenge Game"--a hi-tech Twenty Questions--sounds only vaguely like the redoubtable sorceress. (Rated G: violence) --Charles Solomon Stills from Sleeping Beauty (Click for larger image)
A beautiful princess born in a faraway kingdom is destined by a terrible curse to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep which can only be awakened by true love's first kiss. Though the titular princess is on par with the rest of Disney's essential heroines, most of the fun arises from the trio of charming fairies entrusted with her care: Flora, Fauna, and Meriweather. Meanwhile the evil Malificent may just be Disney's most chilling villainess. This classic makes wondrous use of Tchaikovsky's same-titled ballet score, which earned SLEEPING BEAUTY an Academy Award nomination for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture.

Here are some more information for Happy Birthday:

How The "Happy Birthday To You" Song Was Written
Possibly the most widely-recognized song in the English language, "Happy Birthday to You" didn't start out as a song of birthday good wishes. The tune of this beloved ditty was penned in 1893 by school teacher sisters Mildred Hill and Patty Hill. The two teachers wanted a sing-song greeting with which to welcome their young charges to school each day.
Together they came up with the simple tune that is universally sung to the words of what is now "Happy Birthday to You." In its original form, however, the song went like this:
Good Morning to you,
Good Morning to you.
Good morning, dear children,
Good morning to you.
In fact, these words are often still sung to that same tune today in elementary schools around the globe. Because it is likely every English-speaking child knows it, it makes the perfect tune to just about any simple lyrical poem.
When the words "Happy Birthday to You" were added to the tune remains something of a mystery. What is known about it is that by 1935 the birthday song had become such a part of popular culture that its copyright was purchased by the Summy Company.
The music publishing company still holds the copyright today. Undoubtedly, Summy saw a potential profit-generator in the humble little birthday song. To date, the company has not dispatched song police to nab every innocent and unsuspecting crooner who belts out the beloved tune at a birthday party. It does, however, receive royalties from many sources.
Technically, any public performance of the song requires that royalties are paid to the Summy Company. Every time you hear it performed in a movie or any otherwise for-profit performance, you might also hear change clinking in the pockets of Summy executives. Canadians, on the other hand, can freely sing the jingle without fear of prosecution. This is because in Canada, copyrights only extend to 50 years after the passing of the author. "Happy Birthday" entered the public domain in Canada in 1985.
Many people are surprised to learn that "Happy Birthday to you" is actually owned by a private company. This is to the consternation of many of the song's devoted fans. After all, the song's predecessor, "Good Morning to All," is currently public domain. Sing that same tune to the lyrics it is more commonly known by, and you may risk having to pay Summy.
Ordinary citizens are miffed that, thanks to some changes in copyright law in the 1970s and 1990s, Summy's rights to the birthday song were extended. Originally destined for public domain in 1991, Summy will continue to profit from it until 2030. Many people feel that the birthday song rightfully belongs to the public, especially since the Hill sisters never profited from the original tune.
Whether they would have wanted to be is another question. The Hill sisters merely set out to write a catchy and easy-to-sing-and-remember song for children. It's highly unlikely that either of the teachers ever had the notion that their humble number would become what it is today.
Times have changed considerably since 1893. What was once a simple gift to school children has, in the span of just over a century, become a profit-generating monster, much contended by its advocates.

I want to put a happy Birthday announcement at a Bulls game for my friend's birthday
My main guess is about $40-70, probably no more then that. Guy above me is way wrong, some players don't even make a million dollars in a year.
