1.julio can fill a water tank in 4 mins using a large hose. he takes 6 mins using a smaller hose. how long will he take if he uses both hoses?
2.andrea can deliver 500 handbills in 2h. Bill can deliver the same number in 3 h. how long will they take to deliver 500 handbills if they work together
3. murray can tile a floor in one hour. his partner can do the same job in half the time. how long will it take then to tile the floor if they work together... i dont get any of these.. pls help and show work cuz its hard...:(

1 ) 2.4 mins = 2 mins 24 seconds

2) 1.2 mins = 1 min 12 seconds

3) 20 mins

i ll explain only the first one, rest are similar..

using large hose, one tank is filled in 4 mins

this means in one min, 1/4th of the tank is filled

by the small hose, 1/6th of the tank is filled in one min

now calculate the portion of tank that is filled with both hoses together, in one min

just add 1/4 and 1/6

you get 1/4 + 1/6 = 5/12

which means, 5/12 fraction of the tank is filled by both hoses together in one minute..

now use unitary method
if 5/12 tank is filled in 1 min,
1 tank is filled in ? mins

? = 1 x 1 / (5/12)

= 12/5

= 2.4 mins

= 2 mins 24 seconds
