Opening Moves and Guidelines

The ambition of any player must be to advance quickly into the game! The better the moves and the more information you have, stronger and faster will be your progress; therefore here is a Protoss guide to help you on your way. The Protoss are considered a formidable race; but like any other entity they have their weak points. In order to succeed against them, you must be aware of these weaknesses, which will open doors and opportunities for you for possibly rapid progress?

One of the strongest opening moves in the Protoss guide would seem to be the Zealot Rush! This may be made within the first few minutes of play, by using three to four Zealots, to rush the enemy base. If you are of the opinion that this Zealot Rush is proving successful, you may be able to continue and complete the destruction of the entire opposition base. If you are having a negative result with this particular target, then turn the Zealots in the direction of mining operations, in an attempt to create some crippling damage.

The Dark Templar Rush is another move that could be useful to you. However, although this particular move has proven effective against Terran and other Protoss, it has been generally thought that it less effective against Zerg!

The third opening move in the Protoss guide is called dramatically the Cannon Rush; A helpful tip that might be worth keeping in mind; is to beware of multiple cannons prior to attempting this action. It is also a move that requires a great deal of pure luck and at the same time, speed! Located in some Starcraft maps, in certain starting areas; is an entry area behind the mineral fields. It may be used for this opening move, providing a pylon has not yet been constructed. In this scenario, then cannons may already have been set in this area, thus preventing an early Cannon Rush.

It is always worth remembering, that it is always worthwhile making probes; an accepted number by some players would appear to be two on each mineral patch. However, other players prefer to place four on each patch, giving the reason that it is easier to transfer your existing probes to a new expansion, rather than waiting for more to be built. This leads to the question of when is the right time to expand? Whilst opinions naturally differ, a popular answer was following an attack, or during a surprise drop!

A well recorded and true saying is; that the only way to improve your game is to play with better players than yourself! Towards this goal, make sure you are building probes continuously and the same applies to basic Zealots or Dragons. The only proviso is if you need to build an important structure, unit or upgrade!

One important decision that may arise when choosing early game; is whether you should build a probe or a zealot? It would be wise to select the zealot. If you get rushed, that one lone zealot may be just what keeps you alive!

Vanuatu Travel Guide

Vanuatu (previously known as the New Hebrides Islands) is an archipelago nation consisting of 83 islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean, north of New Zealand and east of Australia. 

The British and French who settled the New Hebrides in the 19th century agreed in 1906 to an Anglo-French Condominium, which administered the islands until independence in 1980. European settlers released several saltwater crocodiles on the island, although today's population on the island officially stands at 2 or 3 medium-sized individuals on the Banks Islands and no breeding has been observed. Despite its proximity to Papua New Guinea, crocodiles do not naturally occur on Vanuatu. 

The climate is tropical, and almost always warm, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s celsius. The wet season runs from November to April, and can be very rainy and humid. Cyclones may occur from December to April.

By boat - Vanuatu's main ports are Port-Vila on the island of Efate and Luganville on the island of Espiritu Santo. 

The Pacific and Orient (P&O) Cruise lines operate regular cruises through Vanuatu waters. 

Tallship Soren Larsen, sails from Fiji to Port Vila and Santo and explores the northern Banks Islands once a year. 2008: Sails from Lautoka to Yasawa island then Vanuatu - 18 nights from 31 Aug-18 Sept. 

Subsequent 11 night cruises explore the Banks Islands, then the isolated islands of central Vanuatu, depart from Port Vila via Tanna island to New Caledonia on 19 Oct

STAY SAFE

Port Vila is, on the whole, a very safe and friendly environment. You are unlikely to encounter any trouble unless you do something extremely provocative.

There are no seriously poisonous snakes, spiders, or insects on Vanuatu, however there are various poisonous aquatic animals that you should beware of if you are swimming, snorkeling, or diving in the area. The most dangerous of these is the stonefish. Saltwater crocodiles are present, so the likelihood of an attack is minimal.
