While this documentary about the behind-the-scenes machinations that occurred during the production of Gilligan's Island will have its strongest appeal for fans of the TV series, even viewers with a passing interest will find some entertainment in this surprisingly deluxe DVD presentation. Based largely on the recollections of executive producer and original cast member Dawn Wells (Mary Ann), with contributions from Bob Denver (Gilligan) and Russell Johnson (the Professor), the documentary explores the many conflicts endured by the show's cast and production staff before and during the show's network run. None of the gossip is particularly damning (no fistfights or secret trysts between cast members), so viewers looking for Behind the Music-type dirt may be somewhat disappointed. But for classic TV fans and Gilligan aficionados, Surviving Gilligan's Island is a pleasant and well-produced diversion. --Paul Gaita

Gilligan's Island: Complete Series Collection

All 98 episodes from the series's 1964-67 run, plus the unaired pilot, are featured in a nine-disc set. **98 episodes on 9 discs. 41 3/4 hrs.**
Despite critical barbs as sharp as a Maroobi spear, Gilligan's Island has proven unsinkable. Its first season was 1964's top-rated show. The expository theme song is one of television's most quoted, and its characters--the Skipper (Alan Hale Jr.), first mate Gilligan (Bob Denver), the millionaire (Jim Backus) and his wife (Natalie Schaefer), a movie star (Tina Louise), "and the rest" (Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells, as the Professor and Mary Ann, wouldn't get their opening credit props until season two)--are pop culture icons. Revisiting the first season's 36 episodes is a not-guilty-at-all pleasure. Some sure and surprising hands piloted these inaugural episodes, including Ida Lupino, Jack Arnold (The Creature from the Black Lagoon), Christian Nyby (The Thing), and Richard Donner (who went on to direct Superman and Lethal Weapon). The "seven stranded castaways" from the ill-fated S.S. Minnow (slyly named for former Federal Communications Commission head Newton "vast wasteland" Minow) received memorable visits from the likes of Hans Conreid as errant pilot Wrong Way Feldman, a young Kurt Russell as Jungle Boy, and Larry Storch as a Cagney-esque bank robber. But these were mere diversions from the heart of the series; the no-man-is-an-island social microcosm that creator Sherwood Schwartz conceived as an anti-war parable (this courtesy of his optional commentary during the fabled unaired series pilot). In the Christmas episode "Birds Gotta Fly, Fish Gotta Talk," Santa Claus himself drops in to lift the disheartened castaways' spirits. "You could have been enemies," he tells them, "instead of a family group who all learned to get along." This is they key to this series' enduring popularity. That, and the unending debate: Ginger or Mary Ann? --Donald Liebenson

Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s Vol. 2

While the animation style of the episodes collected here somehow manages to be stiffer than in Hanna-Barbera's previous decade of cartoons, the characters featured in Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s, Volume 2 have more depth and energy than some of their 1960s slapstick counterparts. In the 1970s more people continued to examine race, gender, and class questions, and Hanna-Barbera explored those issues through some of their cartoons. Disc 1 opens with "Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch," starring some bears with a wide enough variety of hair that they could have inspired the musical. In "New Adventures of Gilligan" (with Gilligan's new pet monkey Snubby a lame change from the live-action show), Gilligan and his pals gang up against the Howells when they try to build an elitist resort on the castaways' island. "Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan" stars a Chinese family who sleuth almost as well as Scooby-Doo's crew. "Sea Lab 2020" is a science-oriented educational cartoon about an underwater commune. Disc 2 offers some flops, like "Valley of the Dinosaurs," which paved the way for Jurassic Park (though Sid and Marty Krofft did much better with Land of the Lost). And "Grape Ape" features one of the most idiotic cartoon characters out there. But spliced between episodes of the still-classic "Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show," the bad cartoons can be forgotten. Bugs Bunny and his sometimes-accomplice, sometimes-antagonist duck pal, Daffy, are a wonderfully clever pair. The real highlight in Hanna-Barbera's 1970s dossier, though, is "Shazzan," in which two kids, Chuck and Nancy, discover a magic ring that harnesses a genie. The kids navigate Persian fantasy worlds illustrated with as much mystical imagination as the animated scenes in The Thief of Baghdad. With such variety, and the dynamism Hanna-Barbera achieved with scripts that tapped into then-current social and political issues, a lighthearted "Yogi's Gang" or "Tom and Jerry" episode mixed in here and there doesn't feel too weak. --Trinie Dalton
Two-disc set includes episodes from "Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch," "The New Adventures of Gilligan," "Sealab 2020," "The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan," "Shazzan," "Yogi's Gang," "The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour," "Valley of the Dinosaurs," "Tom & Jerry/Grape Ape Show," "The Banana Splits Adventures Hour," "Inch High Private Eye," and "The New Adventures of Batman and Robin." 5 1/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English (SDH); featurettes.

There have been various types of slot machines. These machines vary depending on their basic functionality and physical properties. Through time, there has been a continuous use of slots and there are various types of slots. These slots are easy to use nowadays because of the computer programs used to make most of them. The old and mechanical slots are also available if a person is not accustomed to the technological improvements.
Pachislo slots
These slots are originally from Japan. These machines are less expensive compared to other slot machines. This is because once they are used they are cleaned up and repainted thereafter resold to new and willing interested buyers. Most of these Pachislo machines mainly end up in the US from Japan. Pachislo slots are often used for less than two years before they are resold. These slot usually accept tokens instead of coins. It is also known as a skill stop game. This is because a toggle or button starts the reels spinning and the player has to push a button to stop each reel. Though there is an addition of skill to these slots, the maximum payout on these machines is still set by the operator. In this way, no matter the level of your skills, you cannot beat the Pachislo machine as much as the other slots.
Wheel of Fortune
This is a slot machine that was made entirely based on the TV game show 'Wheel of Fortune.' This slot has gone through different changes and is becoming very popular. There are different versions of the wheel of fortune as produced by different companies as they aim to attract more people. This gaming machine has a spinning wheel symbol that provides a bonus pay off in the twenty five cents coins to one thousand coins incase a pay-line is struck by the player. There are different models of the wheel of fortune like the Double Diamond and Five Times Play. The wheel of fortune is not the only slot machine that is based on a TV show. There are other examples such as the Gilligans Island and the Addams family.
Online slots
These types of slot machines are accessible through the Internet. These slot machines are very advanced since they apply advanced technology aspects. The computer programs used to make these machines control the functioning of the slot machine. These slot machines have bonus games and allow for use of different denominations to be used. There are various models of online slots for example Popcorn, Triple Stars and Double Spin Double Diamond. A person playing these games can easily earn bonus points which will then allow them to go for another round and their payout is really high.
Though there are varying types of slots, their functionality and application in the gambling world is still the same. You can either receive very rewarding bonuses or hit the jackpot but there is also issue about familiarity with the different types of slot machines available. Choose the slot machine tat suits you best and you are ready to reel.
Inexpensive Halloween Costumes for You and Your Child
It's that time of year again when ghosts and goblins roam the streets. Halloween brings out the child in all of us so get into the spirit and collaborate with your child to wear a tag team costume set. Here are some ideas for Halloween costumes that are easy to execute:
Dumbledore and Harry Potter
Any child who knows and loves Harry Potter (which is the majority of children out there) will enjoy if his father dresses up as the all-knowing Dumbledore. You will need to don a robe, a beard, and a wig. As Harry Potter, your child can wear a robe, cape, glasses, the wizard hat, and a fake scar on his forehead.
Both of you should have wands for your Halloween costumes. If you have a daughter who would prefer not to dress up as a boy then she can be Hermione. She could make her hair frizzy and wear preppy clothing like a private school uniform. Don't forget the robe.
The Skipper and Gilligan
Enter the world of Gilligan's Island by dressing up as the Skipper and Gilligan for your Halloween costumes. You can easily wear a blue shirt with a white collar, khaki pants, and a captain's hat. Your child will play the part of Gilligan by wearing a red shirt with a white collar and a sailor hat.
Dr. Evil and Mini Me
The cliched phrase, "The apple does not fall far from the tree" can apply to Halloween costumes as well. In Austin Powers, Dr. Evil and his Mini Me are an unbeatable tag team. If you want to keep your Halloween costumes as simple as possible then you and your child can just wear identical clothing. If you're interested in mimicking the characters more closely then go to your local costume store or search online to find a more authentic ensemble.
Halloween's just around the corner. And while your kids are all set to have a blast, they will appreciate your effort and participation in making it a memorable day for them. Find tips to curve halloween pumpkin.

Good Casting on your part.
I doubt that we'll ever get off that island because Obama makes Gilligan look like a Rhodes Scholar & there is no one approaching the intelligence of the Professor in Obama's Administration.
