The best soundtracks are like movies for the ears, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? joins the likes of Saturday Night Fever and The Harder They Come as cinematic pinnacles of song. The music from the Coen brothers' Depression-era film taps into the source from which the purest strains of country, blues, bluegrass, folk, and gospel music flow. Producer T Bone Burnett enlists the voices of Alison Krauss, Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley, and kindred spirits for performances of traditional material, in arrangements that are either a cappella or feature bare-bones accompaniment. Highlights range from the aching purity of Krauss's "Down to the River to Pray" to the plainspoken faith of the Whites' "Keep on the Sunny Side" to Stanley's chillingly plaintive "O Death." The album's spiritual centerpiece finds Krauss, Welch, and Harris harmonizing on "Didn't Leave Nobody but the Baby," a gospel lullaby that sounds like a chorus of Appalachian angels. --Don McLeese
Excellent 19 track soundtrack from the Clooney film. Digipac has a little wear. Light scuff on disc will not affect play.

This two-CD, 25-song set, recorded in Louisville on two nights in the spring of 2002, finds bluegrass's most celebrated crossover band at the top of its game. Krauss's warm, feathery vocals, capable of conveying complex emotions in a single note, appear more full-bodied than in studio recordings, yet lose none of their sensual appeal or dramatic tension. She's perfect, for example, as the melancholy temptress on "Let Me Touch You for Awhile," coming across as both savior and seductress, while Jerry Douglas's Dobro echoes the searing strains of passion and pain. With banjoist-guitarist Ron Block, bassist Barry Bales, and guest drummer Larry Atamanuik anchoring the rhythm, the ensemble deftly blends bluegrass with jazz, rock, and folk, combining lightning speed (though rushing through "Forget About It") with sophisticated chops, tangible emotion, and thrilling vocal blends. The crowd, more spellbound with every note, doesn't even breathe on "Ghost in This House" and nearly tears the place down on Dan Tyminski's voice-of-George Clooney showcase, "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow." But who could blame them? It's only one highlight on an album of uncommon artistry, a moving testament to how good live music can be in the hands of world-class players. --Alanna Nash
Two CD LIVE set in a slimline double jewelbox as Alison Krauss + Union Station. Light scuffs on discs will not affect play.

Only Joel and Ethan Coen, the fraternal director and producer team behind art-house hits such as The Big Lebowski and Fargo and masters of quirky and ultra-stylish genre subversion, would dare nick the plot line of Homer's Odyssey for a comic picaresque saga about three cons on the run in 1930s Mississippi. Our wandering hero in this case is one Ulysses Everett McGill, a slick-tongued wise guy with a thing about hair pomade (George Clooney, blithely sending up his own dapper image) who talks his chain-gang buddies (Coen-movie regular John Turturro and newcomer Tim Blake Nelson) into lighting out after some buried loot he claims to know of. En route they come up against a prophetic blind man on a railroad truck, a burly, one-eyed baddie (the ever-magnificent John Goodman), a trio of sexy singing ladies, a blues guitarist who's sold his soul to the devil, a brace of crooked politicos on the stump, a manic-depressive bank robber, and--well, you get the idea. Into this, their most relaxed film yet, the Coens have tossed a beguiling ragbag of inconsequential situations, a wealth of looping, left-field dialogue, and a whole stash of gags both verbal and visual. O Brother (the title's lifted from Preston Sturges's classic 1941 comedy Sullivan's Travels) is furthermore graced with glowing, burnished photography from Roger Deakins and a masterly soundtrack from T-Bone Burnett that pays loving homage to American '30s folk styles--blues, gospel, bluegrass, jazz, and more. And just to prove that the brothers haven't lost their knack for bad-taste humor, we get a Ku Klux Klan rally choreographed like a cross between a Nuremberg rally and a Busby Berkeley musical. --Philip Kemp

From a match made in heaven comes a movie spawned in hell! Young hotshot director Robert Rodriquez (El Mariachi, Desperado) teamed up with Pulp Fiction auteur Quentin Tarantino (offering his services as writer and co-star) to make this outrageous, no-holds-barred hybrid of high-octane crime and gruesome horror. QT plays Richard Gecko, a borderline psychopath who breaks his career-criminal brother, Seth (George Clooney), out of prison, after which they rob a bank and leave a trail of dead and wounded in their bloody wake. Then they hijack a mobile home driven by a former Baptist minister (Harvey Keitel) who quit the church after his wife's death and hit the road with his two children (played by Juliette Lewis and Ernest Liu). Heading to Mexico with their hostages, the infamous Gecko brothers arrive at the Titty Twister bar to rendezvous for a money drop, but they don't realize that they've just entered the nocturnal lair of a bloodthirsty gang of vampires! With not-so-subtle aplomb, Rodriguez and Tarantino shift into high gear with a nonstop parade of gore, gunfire, and pointy-fanged mayhem featuring Salma Hayek as a snake-charming dancer whose bite is much worse than her bark. If you're a fan of Tarantino's lyrical dialogue and pop-cultural wit, you'll have fun with the road-movie half of this supernatural horror-comedy, but if your taste runs more to exploding heads and eyeballs, sloppy entrails and morphing monsters, the second half provides a connoisseur's feast of gross-out excess. Bon appétit! --Jeff Shannon

A high-powered Hawaii real estate lawyer (George Clooney) finds his ordered existence shattered when a boating accident leaves his wife in a coma, leaving him in charge of the young daughters (Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller) he barely knows. After finding out his wife was having an affair, he drags the girls along on his hunt for the other man, making for moving revelations along the way. Alexander Payne's affecting comedy-drama also stars Nick Krause, Matthew Lillard. 115 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, DVS Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital Surround, Spanish Dolby Digital Surround; Subtitles: English (SDH), Spanish; featurettes.
Only Oscar-winning writer-director Alexander Payne (Sideways) would think to cast the famously handsome George Clooney as a disheveled dad in his outstanding adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings's tragicomic novel. Clooney dials down the glamour to play Matt King, a Hawaii real-estate attorney with a propensity for unflattering shirts and ill-fitting trousers. When Matt's wife, Elizabeth, ends up in a coma after a water-skiing accident, Matt must learn to balance the parenting of his resentful daughters, Scottie (Amara Miller) and Alexandra (Shailene Woodley, The Secret Life of the American Teenager), with the sale of a pristine plot of Kauai land that stands to make the King cousins, including scruffy Hugh (Beau Bridges), a fortune. As Elizabeth's condition worsens, Matt contacts friends and relatives, like her fiercely protective father (Robert Forster), so that they'll have the chance to say goodbye. In the process, he finds out she was having an affair with realtor Brian Speer (Matthew Lillard, effectively cast against type), so he and the girls, including Alex's hilariously mellow friend, Sid (Nick Krause), go on an island-hopping trip, ostensibly to add Brian to the mix, but Matt really wants to find out what his wife saw in the guy. His journey from naiveté to knowledge brings out Clooney's soulful side, creating a believably flawed, deeply sympathetic figure. If Payne leans too heavily on the slack-key soundtrack, his love for his characters, including Judy Greer as Matt's female counterpart, results in his most emotionally satisfying movie to date. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Here are some more information for George Clooney:

From playing an oddball handyman on the Facts of Life to turning up the heat in ER, George Clooney made an acting leap that most actors only dream of. He was a multi-millionaire, being paid to work a few hours a day on a mega-hit television show as a well-respected doctor.
With the show airing until 2009, Clooney, if he would have stayed with the show, could have made in excess of 300 million dollars. Instead, he decided to aim for movies. Clooney is the proverbial self-criticizing actor. No matter what role he takes, he's always looking for something that requires more skill and depth to pull off. After 27 years of acting, he's had more than his fair share of opportunities.
George Timothy Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky. Clooney did well in school and attended both Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati, but didn't graduate from either school. George had his mind set on being an actor, and in 1984, he was cast in the series E/R.
Although strikingly similar, E/R shouldn't be confused with ER. The former was a medical drama produced by Embassy Television, but it only lasted a single season. The popular ER wouldn't arrive until a decade later.
Clooney also had other minor television roles, playing the proverbial jerk boss on Roseanne and a construction worker in Baby Talk. Rounding out the 1980s for Clooney, he landed a role in the slapstick Return of the Killer Tomatoes.
In 1994, Clooney started playing the role of Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC medical drama ER. Unlike its CBS-aired predecessor that Clooney starred in, this show was an instant success. George spent five years on the show, and also appeared in a handful of movies while still playing a doctor on television.
Clooney's first Hollywood movie was From Dusk till Dawn, in which he starred alongside Harvey Keitel. He then went on to shoot One Fine Day, The Peacemaker, and was even put in to replace Val Kilmer as Batman in Batman and Robin. This movie was the biggest box office success, with fans loving it, but critics thought Clooney to be a failure as the caped crusader.
During the last season of ER, Clooney began shooting Three Kings with Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube. He would leave the show in 1999 to pursue acting full time; however, he returned for the final season of ER for a few cameo appearances.
Clooney starred in the 2000 hit The Perfect Storm, and in 2001, ventured into southern territory to play an escaped convict on a mission in O Brother, Where Are Thou?. The latter was Clooney's biggest role to date, even topping Batman.
O Brother was a worldwide success. However, Clooney would soon top himself with the release of a Rat Pack remake titled Ocean's Eleven. This film grossed over 400 million worldwide and has spawned two sequels.
Clooney currently has 4 movies in production and around a dozen more in development. He's kept extremely busy since leaving ER and has become a movie star. He has attempted to take on serious roles, like Michael Clayton and Syriana, but he's better received when starring in more light-hearted productions like the Ocean's franchise.

The How To Be A Player Guide-You may not be George Clooney, but you can get the best out of you
One of the biggest insecurities man have when comes to the approaching and dating scene is the one about their looks. I’m gonna be honest with you: I grew up believing that only the good looking guys had a chance with the most beautiful girls.
And it seems to be true, right? Look at all the teenage movies: The good looking-mean to the weak-captain of the football team have the most popular (and also the most wanted) girl in high school.
Nothing more far from the truth. I’m gonna to tell you a secret: Girls are not attracted to looks like guys do. It doesn’t work the same way. Maybe if you ask a few girls about this they’re gonna tell you the opposite. But it’s not their fault: Attraction works in a very deep unconscious level.
But that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to improve your appearance: Women love a man that can take care of himself. I’m not saying that you have to became a metrosexual kind of guy, but you can get a neat hairstyle, polish your wardrobe, shave that careless beard and keep those shoes clean!. It’s not a difficult thing to do.
If you don’t have a perfect body don’t worry: If you’re are fat, bald, too short or too thin it doesn’t matter: You can get a style that works for you.
It will work on the outside, but is the inside that we’ve got to get it right: It’s all about confidence!. I’m telling you: Confidence rocks with girls!

What are the chances that GEORGE CLOONEY would actually adore meeting you?
I have a theory he might just like to sit down to dinner with a woman of some years, with conversation who would eat at LEAST two courses and the bread rolls and be incredibly thankful when he said that he WOULDN'T be coming in for coffee.
If you are reading this George .... email me - I would go Dutch.
Zero. I have a hunch he prefers women.
And George isn't reading this, but I am
