Zen: Vendetta Cabal Ratking
List Price: $34.98
Sale Price: $23.50

Detective Aurelio Zen (Rufus Sewell) is scrupulously, almost helplessly honest--which, in the woefully corrupt bureaucracies of Rome, makes everyone think he's incompetent or perhaps a bit stupid. Zen saunters through his cases, not always ahead of things or even on the right track, yet blessed with a gift for landing on his feet when bloody events go down. In "Vendetta," the first episode in this TV series, he investigates a seemingly shut-and-closed case while being hunted himself by someone from a past he's forgotten; in "Cabal," the unveiling of a sinister conspiracy hinges on a safety deposit box and an alluring high-class escort; and in "Ratking," an opulently wealthy family grapples with a kidnapping with precarious political stakes. Throughout, higher authorities push and prod at Zen to come to a desired conclusion, while Zen himself steers towards a delicate romance with a lovely--and married--coworker, Tania Moretti (Italian actress Caterina Murino, Casino Royale). Zen delights the ear and the eye--the plots and dialogue are swift and skilled, while the locations in Rome are gorgeous. Sewell slouches around in tailored Italian suits looking like Marcello Mastraoianni's louche little brother, dissolute on the surface but with a gleam of rectitude in his heavy-lidded eyes. He plays his part with delicious understatement, gleaning sly humor where he can, sometimes playing his cards well and sometimes desperately flailing to catch up with events that have outstripped him. And Zen may have the sexiest theme music in decades. A well-made and informative making-of featurette rounds out this satisfying set. --Bret Fetzer
First, Zen looks into a baffling murder with political overtones, in "Vendetta" (2011); a playboy's apparent suicide leads Zen to a "Cabal" (2011) of right-wing fanatics who may have engineered his death; and a philanthropist's kidnapping brings the sleuth into the midst of a complex web of family treachery, in "Ratking" (2011). 4 1/2 hrs. total on two discs. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English (SDH); featurette. **3 episodes on 2 discs. 4 1/2 hrs.**

Romeo and Juliet (Royal Ballet)- Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn
List Price: $29.99
Sale Price: $16.84

Prokofiev's adaptation of Shakespeare's undying tragedy is performed with consummate grace and skill by the British Royal Ballet. Striking work by Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, and David Blair. 130 min. Standard; Soundtrack: stereo music score.
It's not a stretch to call Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn the most sublime of all dance partners and Sergei Prokofiev the most gifted 20th-century ballet composer. And so it goes without saying that the 1966 film version of the Royal Ballet production of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet featuring Nureyev and Fonteyn as the star-crossed lovers is an absolute must-have for anyone who cares a whit about the art. Director Paul Czinner has made all the right moves, alternating between full shots of the performers with long shots that accentuate how Kenneth MacMillan's fastidious choreography is inexorably linked to the characters, their story, the elaborate sets, and the viewer. Nicholas Georgiadis's costumes are sumptuous without being overdone, the supporting dancers and ensemble are as exquisite as the leads, and John Lanchbery conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House with just the right mixture of joviality and tragedy that Prokofiev's classic score needs but doesn't always receive. --Kevin Filipski

Winter Garden Theatre New York, NY Partial View Seating?
Does anyone know roughly what rows and seats would be considered "partial view" at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York? I am thinking about getting tickets to Mamma Mia, and the tickets through the vendor that I am using are Right Orchestra row L seats 14 and 16. Does anyone know if these seats have a full view of the stage?
I haven't been in the Winter Garden in years, but it does have some really lousy seats. Some are even behind pillars!
I checked the seating chart at Playbill.com and it looks like the seats you mention have decent sight lines but I'm not 100 percent certain (never can tell with those pillars for example.)
But they are not too far over. Take a look at the page listed below. That will help.
