Can I transfer game data from my offline profile to my xbox live profile?

I just got an xbox 360 and on my profile without live, I have 220 gamer points, can I transfer all the data to my xbox live profile so I dont have to start the game all over again? From now on, should I save all the game data on my xbox live profile or profile without live? I need a detailed explanation on how to do this, if possible.

Don't think it's possible dude. Your game save is for that specific profile. If you signed in as the Live profile and moved the game save to a memory unit and back, you might become the new "owner" of that save, but the xbox warns you wouldn't be able to earn achievements using that game save. Never done it, but it sounds not worth it, eh?

At any point (with an internet connection) you can turn an offline account into a Live account, but you can't go the other way around. If your Live account is super-new, maybe just let it rot and convert your offline profile to a Live one. (Unless you bought a year already for one account.) Change the name to something cool before doing so (your simple offline name is probably already taken) but be aware it will always try to sign you into Live every time you use that profile from then on. It's up to you.

I kinda wish Xbox would let people "merge" two profiles, because I have a few thousand gamerpoints on my offline account. 220 G is peanuts dude and you'll earn it back in no time. Just keep using the profile you want to rack up a gamerscore with.

EDIT: I don't know if having two Live profiles under the same email and password is a good idea. Probably best to avoid that. If I were you, just forget about the old game saves and concentrate on getting there again with your Live account. It won't take long. Good luck!
