3. Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed by people or animals and turn off your electronics, especially your cell phone.
4. Take off all jewelry. That means your watch, your rings, your earrings, everything. Whether metal or stone, the jewelry can divert energy. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. If your waistband pinches, you aren't likely to spend the necessary time to practice.
5. If you are using a regular mirror, try to use a large one. Place it in front of a comfortable chair. The best mirrors to use are stand mirrors or full length mirrors hung on the wall. Trying to use a hand mirror will only make your arm tired.
6. Sit in the chair. The best chair to use supports the back of your head, even when you are deeply relaxed. A recliner or wing back style chair is perfect. Do not recline in the chair. 8. Relax your posture. Focus on each part of your body and consciously relax it. Many people have no idea what relaxed feels like. You may need to work on your relaxing skills.
9. Set the mood for Mirror Gazing by creating sacred space or participating in activities like listening to meditation music, looking through art books, touching and experiencing find fabrics like silk or brocade.
10. If you have them, gather photographs and personal items of Spirits who has passed around you. Don't forget things they used frequently, glasses, tools, even Grandma's favorite spoon, or Granpa's favorite hammer..
11. Either darken a room or wait until twilight to conduct your session, Light a candle and place it behind you. What metal alto saxophone mouthpiece can both play loud and have dark tone?

okay, so i'm in a small marching band and my band director said i should get a metal mouthpiece so i can play louder. right now i'm using a selmer C* and it has nice tone, but it just isnt loud enough. i dont care if the tone is average, i just dont want i really bight, edgy sound.

Having a dark tone will depend on opening up your throat, and what tip opening/ facing you get on the mouthpiece.

Metal mouthpieces are uncommon for altos- far more tenors use them, so there isn't as much selection. Therefore you'll probably have a hard time finding them at a local store. I'd check out Meyer and Otto Link, they both make good mouthpieces at decent prices (100-130). You should try out both brands, and within each brand, a few different facings, to find the best mouthpiece for you. If you are going to order online, call and make sure you can order many and return the ones you do not want.

A metal mouthpiece doesn't necessarily make you louder- you'll also need to give a lot of air support and loosen your embouchure. You may also want to try a harder reed.
