What's up, Doc? Well, how about a four-disc boxed set packed with 56 of the funniest cartoons in Warner Bros. history? Get ready to laugh yourself silly with salutes to Bugs Bunny ("Baseball Bugs," "Long-Haired Hare," "Wabbit Twouble," "The Rabbit of Seville," and more); Daffy Duck and Porky Pig ("Duck Amuck," "Dough for the Do-Do," "Scaredy Cat," "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century," and more); and other toon faves ("Elmer's Candid Camera," "Fast and Furry-ous," "For Scent-imental Reasons," "Speedy Gonzales," "The Foghorn Leghorn," "Devil May Hare," and more). 6 3/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital mono, French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, French, Spanish; audio commentary; documentaries; featurette; more. NOTE: This set includes all 28 shorts from "Premiere Collection, Vol. 1."
For years, animation buffs have waited impatiently for the Warner Bros. cartoons to appear on DVD. The Warner shorts never commanded the budgets and prestige of the Disney and MGM films, and won fewer Oscars than they deserved. But decades after the best ones were created, they remain the quintessential Hollywood cartoons: brash, fast-paced, aggressively funny and uniquely American. Virtually everyone in the U.S. under the age of 60 grew up on these films, in theaters and on TV. The 56 cartoons in the set (out of a studio output of over 1,000) were transferred from good prints--which means the viewer can see dust, scratches, and occasional mistakes by the cel painters. The films are all presented uncut, in defiance of the killjoys who have insisted on censoring alleged "violence" in the versions shown on television. Warner Bros. is obviously testing consumer response with this set. Although the erratic selection includes many classics, purists will argue (correctly) that it offers neither a fair representation of the directors' oeuvres, nor anything approaching a coherent history of the characters or studio style. (Nearly half the films were directed by Chuck Jones; only three are by Bob Clampett, and there's nothing by Tex Avery or Frank Tashlin.) But it seems petty to carp about omissions and biases when the discs offer excellent, uncensored prints of some of the funniest films ever made in the U.S.--or anywhere else. (Rated G, suitable for all ages: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon

Jack's Big Music Show is a Nickelodeon television program that features puppetry, music, and guest performances by popular children's music artists. Puppets Jack, his friend Mary, and dog Mel have a special clubhouse where they meet to make music together and where visitors often stop in for some musical fun and a little help solving problems. The barbershop-inspired Schwartzman (puppet) Quartet comes visiting in each episode and there's always one or two music video interludes featuring popular children's music artists like The Laurie Berkner Band (We Are . . . the Laurie Berkner Band), Sweet Honey in the Rock (Sweet Honey in the Rock--Singing for Freedom), Dirty Sock Funtime Band Mr. Clown and the Day the Sun Got Wet, or Steve Burns and Steven Drozd. "Groundhog Day" features The Daily Show's Jon Stewart as a reporter for the Groundhog News reporting on the story of Gertrude Groundhog--a groundhog who's too nervous and shy to come out in public to look for her shadow. When Gertrude calls at the clubhouse, Jack, Mary, and Mel provide encouragement and a special song to bolster Gertrude's self-confidence and help her fulfill her Groundhog duties. "Jack and the Beanstalk" puts a new spin on a classic fairytale when Jack, Mary, and Mel help Mr. Giant find the perfect birthday gift for his wife. "How Mel Got His Groove Back" stresses the importance of liking oneself while helping Mel the dog recover from a bang on the head that leaves him meowing like a cat and "Little Bad Wolf" provides an ever-huffing and puffing little wolf with an introduction to music and the perfect musical instrument. Watch for Steve Burns' (formerly from Blue's Clues--Shapes and Colors) music video "I Hog the Ground" and The Laurie Berkner Band's music video "Space Ship" in the bonus features. Jack's Big Music Show is an entertaining series that exposes children ages 1 to 5 to a variety of musical styles while promoting a wholesome message about believing in oneself. --Tami Horiuchi
Includes the episodes "Groundhog Day," "Jack & the Beanstalk," "How Mel Got His Groove Back," and "Little Bad Wolf." 95 min. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo.

Chuck Jones directed some of the funniest shorts in the history of filmmaking, and this 1979 feature-length compilation includes several of his best cartoons. Among the 11 shorts shown in their entirety are the classics Robin Hood Daffy, What's Opera, Doc?, Bully for Bugs, and Duck Amuck, which remain as hilarious as they were when first released almost 50 years ago. As with any collection, the viewer wonders why some films were included and others omitted: Why Hare-way to the Stars and Operation: Rabbit, but not Rabbit of Seville or A Bear for Punishment? Nor is the material always shown to its best advantage: Long Haired Hare has, unfortunately, been cut, and combining footage from several Road Runner shorts into a 20-minute montage weakens the pacing Jones built into the individual films. These caveats aside, The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Movie provides a showcase not only for Jones's razor-sharp timing, but for the work of his exceptional crew, which included designer Maurice Noble, writer Mike Maltese, composers Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, and voice actor Mel Blanc. Space Jam

Although at first glance it looks like a movie dreamed up by a marketing committee (and in some respects it probably was), Space Jam actually defies the odds against it to become a dazzling display of family entertainment. There's a kind of demented genius to the idea of casting NBA superstar Michael Jordan in a live-action and animated movie costarring the beloved characters from Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes cartoons. They play off each other like seasoned veterans of vaudeville, and Jordan never falls into the kind of awkward, amateurish showmanship that you might expect from a sports idol. He's comfortable in the cartoon land of his costars, who include Bugs Bunny and sexy newcomer Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Sylvester & Tweety, Speedy Gonzalez, the Tazmanian Devil, Foghorn Leghorn, and Yosemite Sam. They've all been hijacked to an outer-space amusement park run by the Nerdlucks, who strike a Faustian bargain with the Looney heroes: if Bugs and Co. can defeat the Nerdluck "Monstars" in a basketball game, they'll win back their freedom; if they lose, they'll be doomed to stay there forever as enslaved entertainers. So they kidnap Jordan as their coach and "secret weapon" while the nefarious Nerdlucks suck out the basketball skills from such stellar victims as Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing. It all leads to reckless abandon on the basketball court, and Bill Murray pops in for some hilarious support. Combining traditional animation and computer-generated Nerdlucks with its live-action cast, Space Jam was made in the anarchic spirit of the Looney Tunes cartoons, where anything goes as long as it's funny and off-the-wall (or the ceiling, or the door, or the floor...). Technically astounding, it's also witty enough to entertain adults and kids alike. --Jeff Shannon

Here are some more information for Bugs Bunny:

How Bugs Bunny Helps me Design Rooms and Can Help You!
When I was a child I was a huge Bugs Bunny fan. The clever rabbit was (um, still is??) very cool, calm, and collected and had a great question when he viewed turmoil around him. The question:  what’s up Doc?
It was the question that he often asked in funny episodes with Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Donald Duck, Elmer Fudd, and Marvin the Martian (hmmm, do these names bring back memories?).Â
Okay – so what on earth does this have to do with decorating? Bugs Bunny’s question ‘ignites’ the creative process, but instead of asking ‘What’s up Doc?’, we can ask ‘What else Doc’?
I have incorporated Bugs (yes, we are on 1st name basis) calm attitude with the question that always inspires a creative answer.
I look at rooms that may be a bit chaotic looking (or bland), and ask myself ‘What else Doc?’ What else can we fit perfectly into this room that would make my clients find the room ..
- more enjoyable,
- more relaxed, or
- more productive.
The ‘What else Doc?’ question inspires me and can inspire YOU to think outside of the box. This article is to get you thinking about what else you can incorporate into your home, and below are a few ideas to get the ball rolling:
Living room ….What else doc?
Besides the standard design of sofa and coffee table, perhaps you can incorporate a side table that you can use as your designated game table. Maybe you can store games underneath, leave a puzzle partially completed on the table, or even start a chess game that you are not worried about picking up the pieces or rushing through the game to finish because you can leave on your designated ‘game table’
Bedroom … What else Doc?
Perhaps you can fit a comfy chair that turns a corner of your bedroom into your special cozy reading area.
 Bathroom … What else Doc?
Perhaps you can add ottoman storage where you can keep spa supplies (like foot massager, lotions, etc.). Having the items accessible will inspire you to use it more and treat yourself more often at home, instead of having the items stored in a closet where you have to get a ladder to reach. If your bathroom is too small to add a seat with storage, then perhaps you can add a storage hook-on system into your tub walls to give you easy access to your ‘spa supplies’.
 Kitchen … What else Doc?
Perhaps you can organize your stemware and dishware in a way that can give you more room that you thought you even had. Then you can use that additional space to store cookbooks and regular books (yes, even the romance steamy novelty books).
I had a project once in which the main focus was to design a large living room. As soon as you walk into the apartment you entered the living room, and it was connected to the kitchen (a galley way style) which lead to the bedrooms and bathrooms. So, where on earth was the dining room? There was no designated nook for it – well, not until I surprised my client with a design that incorporated a designated dining area. I still remember how her eyes light up when she saw the design realizing that she could have an elegant dining area after all.
So, I ask you. What else Doc? Are there rooms in your home that you can use for more than one purpose?
I’ll be happy to take a peek at your rooms with our most economical with our Quick Room Analyzer.

Can someone identify a Bugs Bunny episode/cartoon for me?
I remember from my childhood that there was a Bugs Bunny episode/cartoon (either Looney Tunes or Merry Melodies, I can't remember which though) that involves Bugs helping his nephew study for an American History test, and he goes through everything, and his nephew comes home at the end, having failed. I really wanted to show it to the history class that I teach, but I have no clue what the name of the episode/cartoon is. Can someone help me?
