While the idea of infusing a weekly TV series with a Broadway musical ethos isn't exactly a new one--think Randy Newman's ambitious Cop Rock--it became something of a turn-of the-century television mini-trend. But few have reached as far--or succeeded--like this November 2001 episode of Fox Network's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Penned by series creator-producer Joss Whedon and performed by Sarah Michelle Gellar and cast, it's a loving, loopy musical pastiche that takes potshots at everything from Andrew Lloyd Webber to alt-rock. Paralleling the show's lovable pop culture tweaking, the musical styles here (the episode's musical conceit is a curse visited upon Buffy's hometown of Sunnydale) range from a patent footlight chorus of demons being interrupted by Gellar's hard-rocking stake thrusts on "Going Through the Motions" to Spike the Vampire's goth-metal complaint "Rest in Peace," with everything from parking tickets and mustard stain removal to climactic duels with the supernatural getting the Broadway send-up. Also includes strong orchestral score-suites from three other episodes, as well as Whedon and wife Kai Cole's demo for "Something to Sing About." --Jerry McCulley It's no secret that Buffy creator Joss Whedon was unhappy with the hilariously campy and charming 1992 film about his vampire-slaying heroine. When the opportunity for the Warner Brothers series came along, he set out to present his complete vision of the teen dream. This set is a nice introduction to Buffy (petite and pretty Sarah Michelle Gellar); her watcher Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head); her best friend, the computer whiz Willow (winning Alyson Hannigan); their devoted but slightly goofy friend Xander (Nicholas Brendon), and the self-involved beauty Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter). Also featured is Buffy's angst-ridden, 240-year-old beau-to-be, Angel (David Boreanaz). Sunnydale, where former Los Angelean Buffy now resides, just happens to be at a Hellmouth opening, allowing for the presence of not only vampires, but all kinds of beasties and demons. This keeps Buffy and her posse very busy. The two-part opener, "Welcome to Hellmouth" and "Harvest," introduces Buffy and audiences to her new high school, her friends, and her enemies. Most importantly, the episodes introduce a demon who'll plague her through the series' first season: the Master. She also meets Angel, the most beleaguered vampire this side of Lestat's Louis. Together, the newfound friends and the watcher battle--and win (for now)--against the Master's minions. "The Witch" is an early example of the demons Buffy faces--it's not just about staking vamps. Here Buffy meets Amy (a recurring character), whose mother is a cheerleader-obsessed--you guessed it--witch. "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" explores a recurring theme: Buffy's thwarted attempts for normalcy in her life. As viewers come to expect, demons get in the way. Here, the Anointed One (a kiddie vamp) is crowned. Buffy learns the true identity of the mysterious and handsome Angel, who's spent the last 80 years without a kill. The couple agree not to pursue a relationship (yeah, right). Another episode that explores the demonic is "The Puppet Show," which borrows from the familiar theme of the possessed ventriloquist's dummy. Some episodes are quite graphic ("The Puppet Show," for example, features a potential brain removal), but there's always the inevitable triumph of good over evil. This justifiably popular phenomenon serves up healthy messages of loyalty and friendship, complete with hip, dead-on funny dialogue and great clothes. It's also a celebration of the quirky and the odd(balls). --N.F. Mendoza Fran Rubel Kuzui's 1992 tongue-in-cheek vampire comedy is sugarcoated horror, an unusual mix of the cute and scary, with a splash of postmodern pop nonsense to give culture critics something to think about. Kristy Swanson plays a Valley Girl who learns she belongs to a line of ancient vampire killers. After training under the watchful eye of a mentor (Donald Sutherland), she becomes a spandex-wearing, kung-fu kicking, stake-stabbing babe and the mortal enemy of a narcissistic master vampire (Rutger Hauer). The accent is all on cheery attitude, though the action can be as authentically unnerving as any other halfway decent monster movie. Paul Reubens, formerly Pee-wee Herman, has a small role as Hauer's fanged familiar. --Tom Keogh Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer rocked the foundations of television and redefined the one-hour action-drama genre with its bleeding-edge humor, smartly crafted teenspeak, fascinating mythology, and the most ambitious of all themes--you know, that good versus evil thing. At the show's heart is the romance between Buffy (the charming Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Angel (hunky David Boreanaz), the tortured vampire destined to walk the earth with a soul. These six episodes take the Buffy-Angel pas de deux from ecstasy to agony in a now-classic plot arc from the show's second season. You see, if the cursed Angel ever experiences true happiness for a moment, he'll revert to being an evil vampire again. And guess what happens after Buffy and Angel finally declare their love for one another and consummate their relationship... Episodes "Surprise" and "Innocence" chart the events of Buffy's 17th birthday, when evil vamps Drusilla (Juliet Landau, Martin's daughter) and Spike (drolly wicked James Marsters) plan a nefarious surprise party for the slayer, and Buffy wakes up the morning after to find her beloved Angel transformed into (literally) the boyfriend from hell. "Passion" and "I Only Have Eyes for You" chronicle the evil Angel's ascent to power and the love-hate relationship that grows between him and the emotionally wracked Buffy. And the series' ostensible high point, "Becoming, Part 1" and "Part 2," finds Buffy going up against Angel as she fights to save the world from being sucked into hell. It all sounds like horror-action mayhem (and there are great ass-kicking fight scenes), but Buffy grapples with its themes of good and evil with amazing depth and intelligence, not to mention prentention-deflating humor. And oh man, the love story! Buffy and Angel's tragic relationship is one of the most heartbreaking you'll ever find. Buffy's final dilemma finds her having to save the world at Angel's expense, and Gellar (who deserves a passel of Emmys for her work) is phenomenal at telegraphing Buffy's swirling conflicts between love and duty. Fans of the series, as well as newbies to the world of Buffy, will find this outstanding video set indispensable--it's some of the best TV ever made, period. --Mark Englehart This three-tape gift set features the episodes "Surprise" and "Innocence" (tape 1), "Old Passion" and "I Only Have Eyes for You" (tape 2), and "Becoming, Part 1" and "Becoming, Part 2" (tape 3). serinity adaption Designed to look like a retro movie poster, this t-shirt's print features a black and white image of Buffy alongside Angel, Spike, and Willow, accompanied by the text: Demons! Follow in the footsteps of Willow and hone your witchy skills, learning to communicate with the beyond! Here are some more information for Buffy Vampire: Buffy the Vampire Slayer the series remains one of my favorite paranormal television series, ever. I received this as a gift not too long ago, and have been re-watching the seasons these past couple of weeks. The show has everything going for it - an ensemble cast of talented actors (especially the spunky and determined Sarah Michelle Gellar as the eponymous heroine), riveting plots, high-paced action sequences, all sorts of dark creatures (and great make-up effects that have withstood the test of time), witty dialogue, and just pure fun! In this day and age where insipid reality shows dominate prime time television, BTVS is a breath of fresh air, despite being more than a decade old. This collector's set contains the full series, i.e. Seasons 1-7. From its beginnings as a mainly for teens-only supernatural show, the show grows from strength to strength. In Season 1, Buffy reluctantly assumes the mantle of vampire-slayer (and she does slay other demons as well) under the guidance of Watcher Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head). The only friends she has are super smart, nerdy Willow (Alyson Hannigan), and girl-crazy, average guy Xander (Nicholas Brendon). Things become even more complicated when Buffy falls fast and hard for Angel (David Boreanaz), a formerly vicious and evil vampire who has had his soul restored. The following seasons follow Buffy and her friends and loves as they battle the forces of darkness. The characters all evolve throughout the seasons - Willow falls in love, matures, and finds her talent for the Craft, becoming a powerful witch; Xander is no longer just a comic relief - he too matures, experiences multiple heartaches, and finds his own niche; and of course Buffy - from a lonely teen who falls for the wrong 'guy', she discovers being strong is not confined to merely killing vampires and demons but overcoming her own inner flaws and discovering herself. Season 3 was one of the best in the series in my opinion as the characters are all shown to have their strengths and flaws - duplicity amongst the friends, harboring dark secrets, etc. One of my favorite episodes in Season 3 was "Revelations" as the characters have to deal with their frustrations/ anger/ prejudices, etc. Season 4 was also compelling in terms of plot and characterizations. My favorite seasons were Seasons 1-4, though seasons 5-7 were good as well. I was truly saddened when the series came to an end, but at least fans and new viewers can relive the adventures of Buffy and company through these DVDs! Vampires are a popular group in our literary and cinematic lore. Vampires seize our imagination, entrance us, and allow us to believe in beings outside of our normal lives. The vampire has changed from a once maligned, often hated and feared, always undesirable being into a loved creature that embodies superhuman power and eternal life.

Why Vampires Don't Scare Us
During the middle ages, vampires were most of the time apparitions. They were the embodiment of a soul not at rest. Normally a vampire would attack or haunt its former family members. To stop these attacks, village folk would exhume the vampire body, stake it through the heart, and decapitate it. Oftentimes the corpse was also incinerated. By staking the corpse it was thought a vampire would be pinned in its coffin and it could not rise again. Cutting off the head was a method to separate the body from the brain. In the worst cases, fire was used to annihilate a vampire corpse.
Vampires were only spotted after sunset, so it was naturally believed that they couldn't stand the sun. Additionally, darkness is equated with evil things whereas sun, and the light, is equated with things good. Vampires were not observed haunting their former family members in daylight so the belief of aversion to sunlight was born.
Bram Stoker released
Dracula
in 1897 the now timeless, revered, and iconic vampire tale. Bram Stoker redefined the meaning of what a vampire was. The creature took on charm, personality, and charisma. Vampires were no longer mindless spirits bent on destroying their former families. Vampires represented power and eternal life. Bram Stoker planted seeds that would grow into a fascination with everything vampire.
Today there are thousands of books about vampires. Vampire television series such as
The Hunger
,
Forever Knight
,
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
, and
Angel
found widespread success. Proving that vampire television shows aren't dead, new shows such as HBO's
True Blood
continue to thrive.
Vampire movies are also common productions by Hollywood. In recent years we've seen the release of the
Evolution
trilogy,
30 Days of Night
,
I Am Legend
,
Twilight
, and many more. Vampire groupies, fans, fanatics just can't get enough of vampire cinema and Hollywood is quite willing to provide several new vampire films every year.
We love vampires. Until the creature is permanently redefined again, it is unlikely that vampire popularity will diminish. We can't help but become enthralled with idea of immortality, strength, power, and eternal life. Vampires represent these characteristics. Vampires will for eternity be an all the rage form of fiction.

What are other similar games to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds" for PS2?
I Loved "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds" for PS2. I beat it just a few minutes ago and was curious if anyone else who has played it knows of a similar game for PS2.
I don't play many video games and it is rare that I can find one that I can play all the way through.
Thanks so much.
I've never played the game but I went to, http://gamespot.com and checked it out, I give you a list of games that they say are similar, and maybe any comments if I've played it
Lord Of The Rings: ROTK
Dynasty Warriors 4 (I've played this and like it)
Samurai Warriors (Same as DW4, by the same people, so if you try one you might like the other. I would say pick up this one, a lot of people dog on DW4)
The Bouncer (Another one that I liked, I am thinking this is a lot closer to Buffy, than the other 2 I've played.)
