Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5 (Episodes 11-20) Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5 (Episodes 11-20)
List Price: $39.98
Sale Price: $14.99

Rejoin Sci-Fi's most action-packed TV series as Battlestar Galactica 2.5 flies on to DVD in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. Featuring an extended version of the cliffhanger episode "Pegasus," this continuation of the epic second season follows the ongoing battle of President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos) in their heart-pounding crusade to save humanity from the deadly robot Cylons. Packed with special features, including deleted scenes, podcasts and Producer David Eick's video blog, Battlestar Galactica 2.5 is an explosive thrill-ride that's not to be missed! Starring: Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jaymie Bamber, Tricia Helfer, Katie Sackhoff, Grace Park, Katee Sackhoff

Battlestar Galactica's season 2.5 (i.e., the final 10 episodes of the second season, plus an extended version of episode 10) picks up where season 2.0 (the first 10 episodes) left off: Galactica's giddy reunion with the Pegasus had taken a sour turn when Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) went back on her word to Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) and decided to integrate the crews, moving Apollo (Jamie Bamber) and Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) to Pegasus. The animosity, combined with an attack on Sharon (Grace Park), threatens to derail a golden opportunity for the fleet to strike the Cylons where they'll hurt, and stay hurt--their resurrection ship. In many ways, Sharon is the central character. The attack lands Helo (Tahmoh Penikett) and the Chief (Aaron Douglas) in hot water; her impending baby remains the subject of heated debate among president Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), Commander Adama, and others; and a rebellious movement determined to force Galactica to give up the Cylon ends up threatening both Apollo and Starbuck and putting further strain on their already-shaky relationship. Dr. Baltar (James Callis) becomes even more intertwined with the Cylons when he discovers another version of Number Six (Tricia Helfer) on the Pegasus, but is also in line to take over the presidency as Roslin's cancer reaches a critical stage. Battlestar Galactica's inexorable dramatic arc sagged in a couple episodes during this run, but the terrific two-part season finale involving a presidential election, a glimmer of hope for humanity, and some unexpected turns of events makes for a thrilling springboard to season 3. Battlestar is often called the best sci-fi show on television, but that seems like damning it with faint praise; it's the best drama on television. In addition to the 10 episodes, the three-DVD set has an extended version of the last episode of season 2.0, "Pegasus"; the extra 15 minutes include a longer conversation in which Cain reveals her plans to Adama. That episode has a commentary track by executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, Moore's podcast commentaries are on every other episode, Eick's "video blogs" serve as casual featurettes on series production, and there are numerous deleted scenes. --David Horiuchi

Battlestar Galactica - Razor (Unrated Extended Edition) Battlestar Galactica - Razor (Unrated Extended Edition)
List Price: $12.98
Sale Price: $3.78

Told in flashback, this feature-length telefilm focuses on the Battlestar Pegasus, chronicling the ship's role in the Cylon attack on the colonies, Admiral Helena Cain's (Michelle Forbes) mysterious connection to Number Six (Tricia Helfer), and Lee "Apollo" Adama's (Jamie Bamber) first mission as the Pegasus' new commander. With Edward James Olmos, Katee Sackhoff, Mary McDonnell. 101 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English (SDH), Spanish; audio commentary; featurettes; deleted scenes; outtakes.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor was an oasis for BSG fans--when the double-length episode aired in November 2007, it was the only new material broadcast during the 12-month gap between seasons 3 and 4. But although it sets up some events in season 4, chronologically Razor is a prequel taking place within season 2, when Galactica had unexpectedly met up with a fellow Battlestar, Pegasus. The central character is new, Kendra Shaw (Stephanie Jacobsen), who becomes the XO after Lee Adama (Jamie Bamber) takes command of the Pegasus. Shaw's promotion is controversial among Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) and others because Shaw learned the trade under the previous commander of the Pegasus, Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes), who lived by her own wartime rules. The central conflict in Razor involves the Pegasus trying to rescue a Raptor crew from the Cylons. During the mission Shaw flashes back to 10 months earlier, and her experiences in the immediate aftermath of the Cylons' wipeout of Caprica influence how she handles this mission and its implications of a new Cylon-human hybrid. Razor is a riveting adventure, full of the top writing, great acting, and dark end-of-humanity vision that makes Battlestar Galactica the best show on television (that is, when it's actually on). Fans will also enjoy the appearance of old-school Cylons, and the revelation that Gaius is not the only one who fell for the wiles of Number 6 (Tricia Helfer). The unrated and extended DVD runs 103 minutes, about 16 minutes longer than the Sci-Fi Channel broadcast. There's a brief bit of extra gore from Admiral Cain, and young William "Husker" Adama's (Nico Cortez, nicely channeling Edward James Olmos) mission in the last days of the first Cylon war is now 10 minutes instead of 5, including a spectacular aerial battle. In another new sequence, at the moment when Cain tells Shaw "Sometimes we have to leave people behind so that we can go on," there's a flashback to Cain's experiences in the first Cylon war. Among the bonus features is the complete 19-minute minisode version of Husker's Cylon encounter (previously viewable on Sci-Fi Channel's website) and two deleted scenes. Featurettes include "The Look of Battlestar Galactica" and "My Favorite Episode So Far" ("33" gets a lot of mentions from the cast and crew), and there are a trailer and 2.5-minute "sneak peek" at season 4 (mostly interviewing people who don't know what's going to happen, though Tricia Helfer mentions a new version of herself). In a commentary track for the extended edition, executive producer Ronald D. Moore and writer Michael Taylor discuss how the episode came together (they refer to Razor as episodes as 1-2 of season 4) amid some serious restructuring and bits of trivia, such as how they cast Stephanie Jacobsen in the pivotal role even though she had never watched the show. --David Horiuchi More Battlestar Galactica Everything Battlestar Galactica Battlestar Galactica Books BSG Toys & Collectables Stills from Battlestar Galactica - Razor (Click for larger image)

Here are some more information for Bsg Pegasus:
Bsg Pegasus

It all started in 2003 - When Ron Moore finished filming a newly minted idea. A mini-series that revisited the classic Glen Larson helmed series of Battlestar Galactica. Ron had taken ideas from events that had occurred such as the September 11 attacks, as well as the current world political makeup - and reformed the universe of BSG into one that fit more within our ideas of realism, with a healthy twist of what can be best termed 'gritty' science fiction.

This reimagined series had some major changes from the classic, not the least of which was the character of Starbuck, played to perfection by Dirk Benedict in the original series now played by Katee Sackhoff. Along with some other gender shifts and an overall shift in idea from the classic which had a lot of direct religious undertones, to a more naval militaristic feel.

Another major change was in the bad guys. The Cylons went from gigantic chromed metal robots to being humans with a twist. The Cylons became a much deeper more realistic race with flaws and character divisions that made you love them and hate them all in the same thought.

The reimagined premise is thus:

The Cylons were created by man and rebelled in a 40 year long war that ended with the Cylons leaving the Twelve Colonies for parts unknown.

The Battlestar fleet is comprised of ships ranging in age from newly built to close to 40 years old, such as the Galactica, one of the original twelve Battlestars.

There is a deep ingrained fear of networked computers due to the fact the Cylons used the computers to coordinate attacks during the war.

The new show started with a 3 hour miniseries that detailed the attack and destruction of the twelve colonies by the Cylons, destruction of just about everything else, Galactica's gathering of the survivors and the beginning of the long trek towards the 13th colony, called Earth.

With Edward James Olmos now playing the role of Commander Adama (Formerly played by Lorne Greene) and featuring Mary McDonnell as the President of the colonies on board the fleet. The new series took dramatic twists and turns.

Season 1 detailed two intertwined stories, featuring the fact that the humanoid Cylons are in fact cloned or duplicated, and showing one copy of a cylon on the homeworld of Caprica with a human survivor, as well as the same cylon on board Galactica working as an officer and unaware of her dual role, until the final episode, where Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii shoots Commander Adama after destroying a Cylon Basestar in orbit around the plant Kobol. Meanwhile, the other Sharon, involved with Karl Agathon, became pregnant with his child, a first for the Cylons, and she switched sides, dropping her loyalty to the machines and becoming more human in doing so.

Season 2 dealt with the power vacuum left by Adama's injury and recuperation, allowing less senior officers to fill the ranks so we saw the interaction in the command structure, as well as the birth of Sharon's baby, the joining to the fleet of the Battlestar Pegasus, lead by Admiral Helena Cain (played by Michelle Forbes) and the detailed storyline that involved a captured Cylon on board that vessel. This season also focussed on the finding of a new homeworld and it being settled by the fleet, then being found by the Cylons who occupied the planet as the severely depleted battlestars jumped away to a safe location to prepare for a counter attack.

Season 3 dealt with the rescue of the civilians and fleet left on New Caprica and had what I feel was the best scene of any of the series to date. The Galactica jumping into high atmosphere over New Caprica, dropping down at orbital velocity as the Vipers launched, then jumping away before she hit the surface. To my mind, that was the most visually stunning scene I've ever viewed.

Season 3 also showed us the Cylons in much grater depth as we see life on board the Cylon ships, as well as the evolution of the mythology to do with the Colonial gods against the Cylon God.

With Season 4 under development and showing strong promise to be the biggest and best of the entire run, Battlestar Galactica has truly come into it's own. Ending the series while leaving room for spin-off series and movies is a very good decision on the part of Ron Moore and David Eick. It means the series is stopped at the height of it's popularity, not getting cancelled mid-run due to low ratings, and it also allows for massive exposure for anything else that comes from these creative minds. I don't think we have truly seen the last of Battlestar, like the Pegasus in the original series, it will fly off into the void to Come Back at some other time, stronger and better than before.

Battlestar Galactica Movie Details Emerge

Good news for avid followers of the SciFi channel’s hit series, Battlestar Galactica. Although the much talked about BSG prequel, Caprica, has yet to be completed, confirmation has been made regarding the equally anticipated BSG made-for-television movie, which of course, will be shown in the SciFi channel. The movie has yet to be given a title.

Parts of the film will feature events that is set some time before the holocaust, which is why screenwriter and producer Ron Moore is quick to assure fans that each and every one of the original BSG characters have been written into the film. Moreover, the film will also cover the story of Commander Cain and his crew after they survive the holocaust. In the original series, Commander Cain was portrayed by the late actor Lloyd Bridges, and no official word has come out as to who will reprise the role for the movie.

Similar to the unfinished Caprica, which, to those who are new to the show, was a planet that the Cylons attacked and left in utter devastation, the movie will have a prequel feel to it, as it highlights the days leading up to the union of Battlestar Pegasus with the fleet. Moreover, in a crossover of sorts, the film is supposed to shed some light on some storylines on the upcoming fourth season of the show. To add to the relevance of the film to the show, Moore said that that film serves as additional episodes to the fourth season, which will start airing some time next year.

The link between the show and the film has certainly made it harder for die-hard fans and interested viewers alike to miss watching the ever-popular BSG franchise. The film is set to air at least 3 months before the fourth season, giving the audience some time to ponder on what they can possibly expect from the next BSG installment.

BSG: Don't Cylons keep records or communicate their positions so models don't blow covers?

I'd be revengful if I were Gina on the Pegasus. The 6 that boarded blew Gina's cover and instigated a world of hurt for the thing.

That's a really good question. I'm sure Gina and the other 6 had a few choice words. I remember Baltar asking Gina if she was a sleeper agent or has she known all along she was a cylon. She said she was a soldier on a mission. Come to thing of it, that was pretty sloppy having a number 6 board the Pegasus when a 6 is already on board undercover.
