Come Back Little Sheba – This Broadway Story Could be Yours Too!

This philosophy is presented by Doc Delaney in the Broadway show “Come Back Little Sheba.” A Shattered Globe Production, this play is an emotional journey of a doctor who drinks to forget his past and his wife whose favorite pastime is to wander away in fantasyland.

The exclusive element of this Broadway play is its authentic set featuring a cozy living room and a wood paneled kitchen done in green designed by Kevin Hagen. He has been successful in bringing the audience closer to reality of the 20th century through the genuinity in his sets. A small refrigerator, functional sink, and an old gas stove complete the look of the kitchen and make it seem real. The living room has an old-time radio, plus a spacious couch. Welcome to the home of the 1940’s!

“Come Back Little Sheba” revolves around the life of a doctor who is struggling to break free from alcohol for almost a year. He has a pleasant and adjusting nature. His wife Lola is a lonely lady married to her past. Their boarder named Marie is a cheerful art student who adds fuel to the drama through her sexual encounters.

Lola and Doc have a loveless marriage of 25 years. She had become pregnant by Doc out of wedlock at the age of 18 because of which her family ostracized her. However, Lola lost her baby. Since then, Doc sank into alcohol and Lola shut the doors of reality to remain in romantic dreams.

The couple tries to serve as foster parents to Marie, who has a physical relationship with Turk, a stud athlete, played by Jayce Ryan. Marie is a free-spirited soul who has no qualms in tasting the forbidden fruit before entering wedlock. However, Doc has a conservative view about sex and wants this art student to behave in a moral manner.

There are scenes where you can feel that Lola is explicitly sharing the sexual adventures of Marie. She peeps secretly in the sexual reign of Marie and Turk to live her failed dreams. Somewhere in the play, Doc comes to know about Marie and Turk’s physical intimacy and his image of young female innocence crashes. So strong is the impact that he turns back to his bottle in an attempt to flush out his pains with alcohol.

“Come Back Little Sheba” has some dramatic scenes featuring Doc in a drunken and violent state. As the play proceeds, Lola gradually sheds her loneliness and badly hopes that her long lost puppy will come back rushing to her. She leans at the door and shouts outside: “Come back, little Sheba!”

There is a huge rush of tickets to watch Lola and Doc handle their failed dreams in their own ways. And yes, who doesn’t want to watch the fiery Marie and her partner Turk? The front row tickets can be yours, if you call and book your tickets!

What do women wear to a New York, Broadway play.?

I'm going to be taking a trip to New York City. What do the women wear when attending one of the Broadway plays. I'm taking some comfortable clothes & shoes because of the sight-seeing but I don't know how to dress for a play.

If you don't want to look like a tourist do not wear jeans. You don't have to dress to the nines and should be comfortable but most New Yorkers dress nicely for a play. Nice pants & top with flats are fine.
