Flyguy here again and today's topic is the Skinny or Narrow Tie.  Some of you may have seen these slender fashion trends draped around the necks of celebrities such as Bill Maher who can often be seen wearing a skinny tie when hosting his show Real Time with Bill Maher.  For my fellow NCIS fans out there Agent Dinozzo can also be seen wearing the retro Skinny tie in most episodes.  The Skinny tie was made popular by pop icons such as the Beatles during the late '50s and early '60s.

There's also a big Come Back with the skinny designer ties from the '60s. I also think this is due to the fact that the show Madmen is such a big hit and bringing back the skinny trend. I think Hollywood is onto something here. Keep on with the fashion trends people!

The skinny or narrow tie usually measures somewhere between 1 to 3 inches in width.  Normal American style ties usually range from 3.5 to 3.75 inches.  When wearing these type of ties it is important to understand your body frame.  For example I'm 5'11 and 265 Ibs, I am not going to be wearing a skinny tie to any where soon simply because the skinny tie will make me look far wider than I actually am.  Skinny or narrow ties are usually reserved for the thin and scrawny dudes.  So all you buff or husky guys, I advise you stay away from the Skinny.  Now you slim, or fit guys out there, by all means rock the skinny if that's your style.

For those of you who are sick of trying not to offend everyone, see the man who just doesn’t care with Bill Maher tickets. Maher is controversial if nothing else and is one of the most politically informed comedians out there. He rarely backs down from his many stirring comments and has a loyal following because of this.

Bill Maher was born on January 20, 1956 in New York City. His dad was a news editor for NBC and his mother was a retired nurse. He was raised in New Jersey and went to Cornell University after high school. He started performing in comedy clubs after graduation in New York and Los Angeles. He was in a few movies and TV shows and hosted Midnight Hour on CBS in 1990. He had his first HBO solo show in 1992 with One Night Stand. Bill Maher tickets were beginning to become hard to come by as his popularity only grew.

He started one of his most famous shows in 1993, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, on Comedy Central. On the show, he spoke about social and political issues and had a variety of guests to interview. The show won him multiple Cable ACE Awards. ABC began producing the show three years later, and it aired late nights after Nightline. Soon after the attacks of September 11, Maher came under fire because of his controversial comments, which led to sponsors leaving and his show being cancelled.

He wasn’t down on his luck long, however, as HBO picked him up in 2003 and renamed his new show Real Time with Bill Maher. Some of his guests include Rev. Jesse Jackson, Susan Sarandon, Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Pat Buchanan, John Edwards and Gen. Wesley Clark. One of his segments on that show, “New Rules,” he turned into a book called New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer, which stayed on the New York Times Best Sellers for almost three months.

One of his most recent projects is a film called Religulous. Maher works with Borat director Larry Charles on this documentary about religion. Bill Maher has been harshly criticized in the past for his remarks against religion, especially Catholicism. He has been nominated for many awards because of his work including a Tony Award for his one-man show on Broadway titled Victory Begins at Home. When does Bill Maher go back on the air?

It's been more than a month since the weekly show real time has been on the air and I need my fix.

Journalists have a responsibility to the public to be objective and report the news anchored in facts not opinions. Bill is an Atheist and an ultra-liberal Democrat [fine okay] but he strayed a while ago.
If you go back a few months and read the news about his Toxic unfounded rants, and what he says on TV about the Catholic church, and politicians that do not subscribe to his political beliefs you will see that he has become the court jester and a liability to the MSNBC brand. Besides Keith Obermann is a good replacement.
