OK, here's the deal: If you want to build a quality stereo system, SOUND DEADENING IS NOT OPTIONAL; IT IS MANDATORY.

Why is that?

Let me ask you a question: Do you want to hear music, or road noise? Do you want your license plate to be quiet, or rattle when the bass hits? Do you want to hear your tires, or do you want to hear MUSIC?

I know I want to hear the music, and as such, I never do a real car stereo installation without using sound deadening material.

So, with all of that said, let's take a closer look at sound deadening.

Sound deadening comes in many forms, but the two main types are spray on, and matting.

Spray on deadening comes in either an aerosol spray paint can or in a large bucket. The aerosol can is great for small jobs, but if you plan to go crazy with the deadening, you'll want to buy it in bulk. When you buy it in bulk, you'll also need a nozzle of some sort. Usually this can be purchased with the large bucket of sound deadening. This type of sound deadening material works best for tight areas, and where you want a medium amount of sound deadening.

The other kind of sound deadening comes in sheets and is applied with an adhesive on the back of the sheet. This deadening is more difficult to work with, but much more effective than the spray-on type. It is usually used on larger areas, or where more deadening is needed.

Because sound deadening can get expensive, the smart installer installs it where it is most effective. To figure this out, take a drive in your car with the radio off. Listen to where the most noise comes into the vehicle. The main places I look to deaden are around the wheel wells, the firewall (of course), the doors, the roof of the trunk, under the rear seats, and under the center console.

SO! Check out those places, check out any other place where noise comes through, and start figuring out how much material you'll need.

This rule should go without saying, but get more material than you think you'll need. The reason for this is because once you have the material installed, you'll want to do a second listening, only this time with the music turned on. You will most definitely find rattles that weren't noticed before. You will probably also find some places where you'll want to bulk up on sound deadening.

When reproducing music, noise and distortion are your biggest enemies. Sound deadening will go a long way towards fixing these problems.

In addition to silencing road noise, sound deadening works great for reducing rattles in your vehicle. For example: Say you just mounted some high powered speakers in your doors. Because vehicle manufacturers never intend for high powered speakers in the doors, they aren't designed to handle the vibrations.

To fix the vibrations (which sound HORRIBLE), just cut out a ring of sound deadening material, and apply it to the spot where you mount the speaker. Mount the speaker to the top of the sound deadening material, and be sure the speaker is bolted down tightly. Now, try turning up the stereo again. Did this fix the problem? If not, try applying another layer of sound damping material.

Another trick: Have you ever noticed that certain panels in your vehicle vibrate when certain bass frequencies play? Get some of the spray-on sound deadening material, and apply it to the back of the panel to dramatically decrease the vibrations. For larger panels, use sound deadening sheets.

Another trick: Does your license plate rattle when the bass hits? Don't look like an idiot, fix it! Take some sound deadening material, and apply it to the back of the license plate and the license plate frame. Try the bass again, only this time you won't embarass yourself when you drive through a parking lot!

The Big Bass Are Waiting For You At Lake El Salto!

In the bass fishing world, a trip to Mexico is a must and if you want to almost guarantee yourself a certain catch, then Lake El Salto should be your first port of call. Why? Well, Lake El Salto has developed a reputation as just about the best bass fishing lake in the world, and for good reason!

Bass was introduced to El Salto over two decades ago and the result, a lake full of fish ready to be caught! Apart from being one of the most picturesque locations you'll come across, Lake El Salto, situated within close proximity to Mazatlan and close to the Sierra Madre mountain range, has an ideal temperature range and all the right ingredients for bass to flourish. And flourish they have!

El Salto's Monsters

There's an old saying... size matters and El Salto's reputation for producing monster bass is one good reason why anglers flock there in droves across the border from the US. There is a strong emphasis on trophy fishing; being able to tell your buddies you "snagged" the big one and better still, producing the photo proof of your catch.

The season at El Salto runs for approximately nine months. It officially "casts off" on October 1st. and runs right through until the end of June. This period produces a great number of visiting anglers all after their trophy catch. Experts will tell you the best time to land a monster is following the spawning season which usually takes place from December through until March. The "fish tale" giants have usually been landed following the big spawn from April through until season close at June's end.

El Salto Tours

There is a term used in bass fishing which is simply double digit. It's music to the ears of most serious anglers because landing a double digit bass will land you short term fame and bragging rights. Best of all, you'll forever have the licence to "spin the yarn" about the time you hooked a double digit bass in Mexico, provided you've kept the photo, of course!

Visitors are always welcome at Lake El Salto and there are several fishing tour companies which provide either a sole El Sato experience or include it as part of a fishing itinerary. As an example, a two day package would set you back about $500 and the value you receive is excellent. All meals, transport to the lake and back to your accomodation which is also usually included in the price, drinks and boat guides who are conversant in both english and spanish and not to mention your fishing license. That's a pretty good deal in anyone's language.

Lake El Salto is a bass fishing heaven. In fact, in 2002, a fish nearing 20 pounds was landed on the lake. It's reputation as a breeding ground for monsters continues to grow.

gun license for bb and pellet guns?

i am buying Daisy® Powerline® Model 5880 Shadow Plus Shooter's Kit at bass pro for small game, its amos are bbs and pellets
and i am not sure if i should still get gun license?
i am new to buying guns so i don't know what i should do help.

I doubt you'd need a gun license. To the best of my knowledge, only a handful of US states/cities (New Jersey, NYC, and Michigan) consider some/all airguns to be firearms. In most of the US there is no license needed to own them. So, it doesn't look like you'd need any kind of license, but if you simply want to play it safe, call your local PD and ask if you need a license to own an air-rifle/pellet-rifle.

However you will need a hunting license to take small game such as squirrels and rabbits. You'll also need to check Maryland's hunting regulations and see if they allow people to hunt small game with airguns. (Some states do, some don't, some don't say anything about it one way or another.)

Additionally the Daisy 5880 (basically a glorified Daisy 880) is not the best choice for hunting. It has enough energy to take squirrels at 25 yards or so and rabbits at 20 yards (barely) with perfect shot placement. The thing is, in my experience typical accuracy with the Daisy 880 is roughly 1-inch groups at 20 yards from a bench and 1.5-2 inch groups at 20 yards offhand. (Maybe I'm rusty...) Since most small game animals have a lethal zone 1-inch in diameter, you're probably not going to get perfect shot placement unless you're closer than 20 yards. A better option for hunting would be the Crosman 2100/Remington Airmaster 77. Its more powerful (9ft-lbs m.e. vs. 7 ft-lbs m.e.) and because its heavier it should be easier to shoot accurately offhand (which increases the odds of clean kills).
