Sounds of Summer: Very Best of The Beach Boys
List Price: $11.94
Sale Price: $8.34

|
The cynic may question just how many Beach Boys greatest hits albums are enough. Everyone else, however, will appreciate what makes Sounds of Summer unique. This is the first single-disc collection to feature such a large cross section of hits from the group's entire career, spanning 1962's "Surfin' Safari" through 1988's "Kokomo." All 30 tracks, spanning several label changes, were Billboard Top 40 hits and are probably now as identifiable as the national anthem to anyone with radio or TV access. The fact that the tracks aren't in chronological order helps make for a fresh listening experience, as does the crisp digital sound. And yet these songs--even those that are more than four decades old--always sound strangely fresh and will likely remain so as long as there are beaches, young people, and that symbolic season of freedom and dreams. Which is to say that the title here passes the "truth in advertising" test. Perfect for those casual fans not yet ready to spring for the individual albums, Sounds of Summer is in many ways a better representation of this legendary band's art than Elvis' 30 No. 1 Hits and The Beatles 1 were of the King and the Fab Four. --Bill Holdship

Sesame Street: Kids' Favorite Songs
List Price: $9.93
Sale Price: $3.49

|
Elmo's getting ready for his Top Ten Countdown on the radio and everyone on Sesame Street wants him to play their favorite songs! But with so many great songs to choose from, how will Elmo pick which ones to play? Maybe you can help him decide. Which of these favorites is your favorite song?Recommended Ages: 12 months & up
Kids' Favorite Songs kicks off with a cackle-worthy parody of Bob Dylan doing "Old McDonald," and from there the groovy gags keep comin' 'round the mountain. Everywhere Elmo turns on Sesame Street monsters spontaneously burst into song, and all because they want him to feature their favorite tunes on his forthcoming radio countdown. For Telly, winnowing the hits to one is akin to Cookie Monster choosing between a macaroon and a figgie bar: at first he's sure that "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" lights his fire, but then he says bye-bye to a black sheep. The street heaves a collective sigh pavementward when word comes down that the countdown is strictly a numbers gig, no music involved. Only Sesame Street could weave well-loved musical numbers around a simple numbers lesson with such wacky pizzazz, making this a countdown that's no letdown for high-spirited parent-preschooler combos. --Tammy La Gorce

O Brother, Where Art Thou?
List Price: $10.99
Sale Price: $6.70

The best soundtracks are like movies for the ears, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? joins the likes of Saturday Night Fever and The Harder They Come as cinematic pinnacles of song. The music from the Coen brothers' Depression-era film taps into the source from which the purest strains of country, blues, bluegrass, folk, and gospel music flow. Producer T Bone Burnett enlists the voices of Alison Krauss, Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley, and kindred spirits for performances of traditional material, in arrangements that are either a cappella or feature bare-bones accompaniment. Highlights range from the aching purity of Krauss's "Down to the River to Pray" to the plainspoken faith of the Whites' "Keep on the Sunny Side" to Stanley's chillingly plaintive "O Death." The album's spiritual centerpiece finds Krauss, Welch, and Harris harmonizing on "Didn't Leave Nobody but the Baby," a gospel lullaby that sounds like a chorus of Appalachian angels. --Don McLeese
Excellent 19 track soundtrack from the Clooney film. Digipac has a little wear. Light scuff on disc will not affect play.

Everything you'd expect from those roly-poly, TV-bellied creatures is packed into Teletubbies: Nursery Rhymes: animation, videos, singing, dancing, tumbling, and, of course, nursery rhymes. Each of the Teletubbies is introduced to the joys of old-time school rhymes: Po happily noshes on her Tubby Toast as the mysterious speaker rises from the ground to warble "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Dipsy and Laa-Laa tumble down hills like "Jack and Jill." Tinky Winky learns the fundamentals of "Pat a Cake." Kids will shriek with Dipsy as he runs away from the fuzzy pink spider that pops into place at the appropriate moment in "Little Miss Muffet," and they'll march about the living room with all four Tubbies to the "Grand Old Duke of York." "Hey Diddle Diddle," "Hickory Dickory Dock," and "Humpty Dumpty," and more are accompanied by much dancing and exclamation. The videos within the video feature a storybook telling of "The Gingerbread Man," and a smooth-voiced crooner intoning rhymes to a group of galloping kiddies. This third video in the Teletubby series--following Here Come the Teletubbies and Dance with the Teletubbies--combines the best of the TV series for entertainment that will have your kids squealing, "Again, again!" --Jenny Brown

A 1990 remake of the 1953 classic, this sweetly effective film, set in 1903, centers on the effects of the Boer War. Two young Scottish boys, Harry and Davy MacKenzie (Leo Wheatley and Charles Miller), orphaned as a result of the war, have been sent to live with their grandfather. Charlton Heston plays embittered James MacKenzie, who lives on an isolated farm in Nova Scotia with his wife and daughter Kirsten (Leah Pinsent). He's the town grump, making his hatred for the Dutch--who he blames for the death of his only son--loud and clear. This doesn't sit particularly well with Kirsten, who secretly fancies the kindly Dr. Willem Hooft (Bruce Greenwood, affecting the best accent--a Dutch one--in the film). Hooft reciprocates, but the couple can't act on their feelings for fear of what rifle-toting MacKenzie will do. It's to this physically and emotionally remote environment the youngsters come. When MacKenzie denies their request for a puppy, they "rescue" a baby (who they call a "babby") to raise as their own. Naturally, complications arise. Wheatley and Miller are darling. From the earliest scene, as they disembark, dressed in ruffles and kilts, they are simply delightful. They prove to be charming and unpretentious young actors as well. While none of the actors playing Scottish roles (including Oscar-winner Heston) quite get the accent right, this is a warm film that audiences both young and old can rally around, rooting for the very young--and well-intentioned--heroes. --N.F. From the revolutionary minds of Pixar Animation Studios and the acclaimed director of MONSTERS, INC. comes a hilariously uplifting adventure where the sky is no longer the limit. Carl Fredricksen, a retired balloon salesman, is part rascal, part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time -- Carl's front porch! The world's most unlikely duo reach new heights and meet fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, a rare 13-foot tall flightless bird. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realizes that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out looking for. Including the hilarious short film "Dug's Special Mission," UP reaches new heights on Blu-ray(TM) and DVD. "You will want to see it again and again," raves Christopher Kelly of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It's adventure that will send your spirits soaring! Product Measures: 0.61" x 5.34" x 7.5"
At a time when too many animated films consist of anthropomorphized animals cracking sitcom one-liners and flatulence jokes, the warmth, originality, humor, and unflagging imagination of Up feel as welcome as rain in a desert. Carl Fredericksen (voice by Ed Asner) ranks among the most unlikely heroes in recent animation history. A 78- year-old curmudgeon, he enjoyed his modest life as a balloon seller because he shared it with his adventurous wife Ellie (Ellie Docter). But she died, leaving him with memories and the awareness that they never made their dream journey to Paradise Falls in South America. When well-meaning officials consign Carl to Shady Oaks Retirement Home, he rigs thousands of helium balloons to his house and floats to South America. The journey's scarcely begun when he discovers a stowaway: Russell (Jordan Nagai), a chubby, maladroit Wilderness Explorer Scout who's out to earn his Elderly Assistance Badge. In the tropical jungle, Carl and Russell find more than they bargained for: Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), a crazed explorer whose newsreels once inspired Carl and Ellie; Kevin, an exotic bird with a weakness for chocolate; and Dug (Bob Peterson), an endearingly dim golden retriever fitted with a voice box. More importantly, the travelers discover they need each other: Russell needs a (grand)father figure; Carl needs someone to enliven his life without Ellie. Together, they learn that sharing ice-cream cones and counting the passing cars can be more meaningful than feats of daring-do and distant horizons. Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc. ) and Bob Peterson direct the film with consummate skill and taste, allowing the poignant moments to unfold without dialogue to Michael Giacchnio's vibrant score. Building on their work in The Incredibles and Ratatouille, the Pixar crew offers nuanced animation of the stylized characters. Even by Pixar's elevated standards, Up is an exceptional film that will appeal of audiences of all ages. Rated PG for some peril and action. --Charles SolomonStills from Up (Click for larger image)

Here are some more information for Baby Boy:

If you want to know how to make a baby boy, there are various tips you can implement which can help tip the odds in your favour. Many couples would love to be able to choose to have a son, particularly when they already have a daughter, or even more than one.
If you are checking out the internet for tips-a word of warning. Some are based just on heresay or old wives tales, and I would suggest that you give these a miss. However, there are some which have a basis in scientific fact and some of these are worth introducing in a co-ordinated and thoughtful way. Indeed, some methods are said to give you almost a 95% chance of conceiving a boy.
To know how to make a baby boy, you must understand the differences between male and female sperm and how this knowledge can be used to your advantage. Dietary information to help make the environment within the body supportive of male sperm is also essential.
Male sperm is faster and smaller than female sperm. However, it cannot live for as long and is thought to be less robust. Therefore, once the exact day of ovulation has been determined (it is best to use an ovulation predictor kit to avoid any errors) then you should aim to have intercourse on that very day and the day afterwards. The reasoning behind this is that to make a baby boy, the male sperm need to be given the best chance to reach the egg first. Having intercourse a couple of days before the egg is released means that the longer-lasting female sperm are still around by the time the egg is released, whereas the male sperm will have perished, so you should avoid this.
If you want to learn how to make a baby boy, then what you eat is also important. Male sperm are best supported in a mildly alkaline environment so eating foods which will create an alkaline pH level is recommended. Such foods include those high in sodium and potassium such as apricots, bran, raisins and nuts.
If you would like to see tried-and-tested, all-encompassing methods which will help you to conceive a boy baby, there is an excellent guide which is based on scientific rather than anecdotal principles. It includes all the information you need to successfully choose your baby's gender and has been proven to be 95% accurate.

Baby Boys Names: Spectacular Must Read Tips to Help you Choose Well
One of the most important decisions you'll make for your child will be its name. You've got the extraordinary opportunity to decide what a person is going to be identified as for their whole life, a name certainly doesn't define who a person is or what they may become, but it undoubtedly will effect them however slight at some point in their future.
Yes, it's a serious responsibility and your baby boys name shouldn't be considered lightly (or confirmed after a confrontation with your mother in law), but remember it's also a lot of fun too! This is your chance to bestow upon a special person the name that you've always liked, or one you've found that has that certain ring to it. Consider these tips when choosing a name to ensure smooth sailing for the years to come.
Consider the Surname:
The babies surname and how it matches with the first name is vital. Unless you want your sons name to be the topic of conversation around the water cooler it’s a good idea to really think about this one.
Don't Forget the Middle Name:
Is your child going to have a middle name? Or two? Thank goodness for middle names, if you’re tempted to be a bit creative when choosing names but your other half doesn’t quite agree, then it can easily be settled by being a middle name. However many people feel committed to a middle name already, the fathers name, or one of the Grandparents names are quite usual. So if you already know what the middle name is going to be take this into consideration. You might want to avoid first names and middle names that rhyme…just a suggestion.
Does it Rhyme with Something Less Than Appealing?:
Bullying is bound to happen, especially if you’re a boy. There’s just something about the male brain which just itches to be aggressive and to take things out on their peers. You can of course help my not giving young and creative minds something easy to twist into the new playground song. This is where the first and last name combination is imperative. Even grown men are especially good at recognising a potential bully magnet, so run it by some friends and family and ask them to do their best.
Will It Be Shortened To A Nick Name?:
That is there nick name going to be? Can the name be shortened? Can you handle it when your Mitchell becomes Mitch? Do you like the name Joe instead of Joseph? Make sure you like the shortened version before you commit. Because, chances are, that’s what your boy will be called throughout his entire life or at least until he’s 80 years old and it becomes more appropriate to use the long version.
Pronunciation:
Is it relatively easy to pronounce? There are some people in life that have very unique and beautiful names that can only ever be pronounced by people that speak French.
Spelling:
Is it relatively easy to spell? You might think it great that your sons name has a silent “j”, but he’ll never get all of those hours back that he spent spelling out his email address to people.
All things in consideration, you’ll know the right name when you find it. It will just feel right. Generally, stick to whatever feels right to you and your spouse because this is your special little man. And good luck for the future!
